@Tikay, most of the fascination I get from watching them is the psychological impact it often has on the woman. Stockholm Syndrome is really interesting to me. I wonder how many unfound girls there are in cellars right now though? What would you guess? dozens? Hundreds?

Two interesting numbers from the last couple of days

1- The FBI suspect there is close to 100,000 kids in America kidnapped and/or sold for sex. What?!!!?
2- Emma Watson in her fantastic he/she speech this week stated that the largest form of death for 20-49 year old males is suicide.

Both really, really surprised me. Concerning the latter, don't you think it's a little odd that so few poker players commit suicide? There have been a couple of cases, but really not that many.

@Dan, yeah seen it a lot of times, it kind of gives me the chills a little bit when I watch it.

what cause of death would u expect to be more common in men 20-49 than suicide?

road accidents
heart failure
cancer?
drug use

i really wouldnt have considered suicide to even be top 10, but maybe im just really naive with that.

Think the 20-49 male suicide stat was used because men are 3-4 times more likely to die of suicide than women?

Would have thought men more likely to die in road accidents but presumably road safety and advances in medicine reduced those numbers?

yeah exactly, Dan Morgan said the same "it says less about suicide numbers and more about the advances in preventing/curing cancer" kind of thing.

Still think its very surprising.

Suicide and poisoning leading cause of death for 20-34 year olds

Suicide and injury/poisoning of undetermined intent were the leading cause of death for 20-34 year olds, for 26% of men and 13% of women. Factors that could lead to these deaths include: traumatic experiences, lifestyle choices such as drug or alcohol misuse, job insecurity and relationship problems.

we're better at medicine but are having a mental health epidemic but its a taboo thing to mention so everyone pretends nothings happening. i'm just reading an interesting book (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Drugs-Without-Minimising-Harms-Illegal/dp/1906860165) which discusses what you are talking about and what i've just said and current/future laws that effect these things. highly recommend it as it's very informative and in places goes against what you'd expect to be the norm.

Suicide and 'misadventure' the two highest for the under 35 age group. Misadventure obv would include accidents/drugs.

Views on suicide and mortality around males really changed last 10-15 years. Was always the older age groups where suicide was prevalent.

Rates of people suffering from mental health problems remains stable, the difference is that people are better trained to detect it and it is far less stigmatising than it has been.
Over past 15 years there has actually been far more money put into mental health services than previously. This has obv increased detection rates/treatment options.

One negative has been the cost implications of increases to psychological therapies. It is very expensive to train/supervise psychologists with little output from them.
It stays well under the radar but the cost/benefit ratios to psychological therapies and community services do not add up. Hence why suicide rates haven't dropped off as they maybe should have.

In my experience 'legal highs' are far more dangerous/challenging to mental health tan illegal drugs. The effects are more severe both in the acute phase and longer term.

Frustrating day.

Woke up early, went to the gym, came back, played the 320 6max WCOOP, finished 10 minute (15 people) away from the money, was really sad, 500$ min cash isn't so relevant but just would have been nice to cash two wcoops in a row in terms of my bet.

Played the 200c afterwards and feel like I played super A+ game. I basically 1 tabled it for long parts and eventually came 50thish for 3.2k, decent cash and helps with the bets.

Not going to moan about the tournament, but rfhufuhuruf4uhfuuhfeupuepuepueuhuhfeuh Cheesy

Ordered some food, going to get a good nights sleep with a movie afterwards and then go to the gym tomorrow before a good meal with the Budapest grinders and then 500c and 215 08 starts which I'm really looking forward to.

85% sure I will move to Malta with Ingrid now, it makes sense long term for lots of reasons, professionally both for me and her, personally for her and most likely me and definitely way better for our dogs.

Refuse to moan about the last few days, but lets just say there was a guy at 1knl going all in pre with atc and span up to 17.5k Cheesy

Tomorrow is a huge day, WCOOP main event. So big, so important for my bets as a min cash will win it for basically everybody except 3 people Cheesy In my team bet with me, european and buckguy we're winning by around 35k against bryn, jdjt and westmenlo, so will be sweating that quite big too.

After Sunday I will take the next 6 weeks off online poker. I'm going to be putting a lot of time in at the classroom, looking deeply into PLO and getting more familiar with no limit. Hired a few coaches already and looking forward to working with them. Feel very confident with how I'm playing but speaking to people who have played the mid/high stakes games over the last 6 months when I've been playing tournaments seems like a good idea just to see how the tendancies are now. Battled a lot yesterday and went to bed really happy that I felt like I could jump back into 1knl and feel comfortable.

Ingrid and the dogs return on Wednesday and then its EPT London in October which will be really fun too hopefully.

Going all out tomorrow, playing a very high stakes session and will actually record it all. Will most likely make some videos over the next 6 weeks too, not sure how/where/what I'll release them as.

I haven't shaved in around a month and have the ott beard look going on, tonight I went for the shave before tomorrow and the razor ran out of battery half way through and I cant find the charger so tomorrow I have to venture out the house looking like half monkey half 12 year old boy. I really need to eat too and go to the gym but wont have time to do all 3 so I'm either going to just look like an idiot in the restaurant/gym or just go to a public toilet and shave lol, sounds pretty ridiculous but thats my biggest problem in life right now so cant be too bad.

Booking PCA next week which will be the first time I've been. Ingrids never been to a poker tournament with me before, so this sounds like a pretty good opportunity to do it.

One more stupid real life problem. I've been getting really cold the last few days, so today I finally found the radiator which is behind my desk and hidden behind curtains. Pretty funny conversation from skype lol

[27/09/2014 20:57:53] benwilinofsky: I have literally no idea what you said
[27/09/2014 20:58:16] benwilinofsky: IDK I feel like if I'm not emptying with AQ there my betting range on the river is way too narrow
[27/09/2014 20:59:07] benwilinofsky: like sets/QT/AA/KK/never bluff?
[27/09/2014 21:00:48] benwilinofsky: AA/KK are better checks than AQ as well, if we assume he gets to river with some amount of Qx
[27/09/2014 21:01:07] a.S.e High: sets 2p overs bd straight
[27/09/2014 21:01:12] a.S.e High: isnt that plenty ?
[27/09/2014 21:01:40] benwilinofsky: depends on how wide you peel turn and how many airballs I get to river with
[27/09/2014 21:01:48] Patrick Leonard: guys
[27/09/2014 21:01:51] Patrick Leonard: stop
[27/09/2014 21:01:52] Patrick Leonard: one second

[27/09/2014 21:02:05] a.S.e High: lol

[27/09/2014 21:02:57] benwilinofsky: what kind of radiator is it? Hot water or electric? Is there central heating in your building?
[27/09/2014 21:03:42] Patrick Leonard: it has pipes built into the wall
[27/09/2014 21:04:04] benwilinofsky: sounds like hot water
[27/09/2014 21:04:05] a.S.e High: you need to air it then
[27/09/2014 21:04:15] a.S.e High: its a lil more complicated
[27/09/2014 21:04:17] benwilinofsky: it's possible that it hasn't been turned on in your building yet, it is only September

[27/09/2014 21:07:40] benwilinofsky: talk to your landlord and put on a fucking sweater

So I emailed my landlord and she says the heating doesn't switch on till October 15th, wtf is that!

So goals for tomorrow

- record my session
- shave half of my face
- win enough money to buy a portable heater

Excellent. Like a bit of added humour.

The radiator expression, by the way, it not "air", but "bleed it". Air gets trapped in the system, so there is a little bleed valve, & you get a little "bleed key" to expel the trapped air. It is a most satisfying thing to do.

Interested to see you playing cash again. Cast your mind back to the turn of the year, & you were printing money @ cash, & intending to do the Supernova Elite (?) thing, or whatever it is called. You theorised how much you would win, it was a huge number, & I often wonder why you did not stick to that path. You did pretty good, to put it mildly, at MTT's, but as I recall, you used to win almost every single night at cash, night after night.

Anyway, it's a rare beast indeed that excels at both cash & MTT's, so thats a nice spot to be in.
