So what kind of hourly win rate are you getting in Live games?.....you keep records?

Lee

I'm not sure, most of it was from 2 years ago when I was a way worse player than I am now. But you can see from Alex's blog the win rates that are achievable/standard with good players.

My hourly that I kept records of was for 6 months where I was winning at a completely ridiculous win rate. £50+ at 100nl/200nl playing very regularly.

Now I simply don't have the time.

Burn out? You do seem to lead a very busy life, with poker taking up a lot of your spare time.

My guess is that a break from the game would re ignite your passion for the game and coaching is simply something different from grinding like a mad man, so it is new and fresh.

This

I have no idea how you find the time to do everything you do (Same goes for George)

I'll he honest, a lot of the motivation for it is clearly selfish... But mate I can't wait for me to get to 50nl and get hold of you properly for some coaching and to start making some real moneys together.

I hope youre right, and I can beat 200nl.

Lets get there and hopefully you will be back crushing yourself as well.

Yeah, I'm also starting to take on even more responsibilities at work, and after a chat before Christmas even significantly more immediately and potentially even more more in the long term future. No regrets though, I love the working life, I'm extremely passionate about what I do and I'm very motivated to make 2013 a huge year for my company.

But I'm just stupid really, I spent the last 2 hours trying to work out if I have enough time to make supernova elite playing purely from 8pm onwards in the evening and on the weekends around my job and family. Cheesy

If you asked me about 3 months ago what I wanted to do in 2013 I would have said I wanted to be the best mid stakes player in the world and make a bunch of money, now I'm just not motivated for it, no idea why/what happened, but over December/Xmas I played v v little poker, probably 2 hours from December 20th-Today.

Very weird, no idea what the plan is for 2013, I have been coaching a bunch actually, in the past I always didn't enjoy coaching because I just wanted to play. Now I just want to help and teach, it's weird. It's also hard to teach people and be the best poker coach in the world if you don't know game dynamics much. Most of the people who need coaching are at NL100/200, I should probably play a bunch of every stake just to understand everything and to make sure what I'm saying is right.

Again no idea what I want to do, I posted last years outcome of poker in the other thread:

pretty ridic year

had biggest tourny score of life (50k+)
had best winning months of my life (multiple 20k+)
lost by far the biggest 2 pots of my life with very high equity in live games (xxk+ Tongue)
lost aa v 66 on a66 in a wpt
kk v ak in gsop
aj v a10 for big pot close to money in ept
came 10th in one of the biggest sunday millions of the year with top set when i was 2/10 vs 1/10

think i improved as a player to a ridiculous level and so many opportunities to have a "break through", can't be sad, but has made me a little demoralised moving to 2013.

Probably biggest rollercoaster year I will ever have Cheesy

I really, really feel confident playing, but just need to change my mindset a little bit.

Anyone has any advice? Smiley

Real life stuff intervened?

Were you serious about posting less on Blonde, seems a shame

Yeah, very serious, especially once im into everything and in a proper regime. This year is going to be very busy and I spend/waste a lot of time on Blonde, its the first browser I open up in the morning and I read almost every post.

From maybe Christmas until New Year I wrote around 100+ posts that I then deleted and didn't post I just asked myself "really, do I NEED to post this" a lot of what I post in the past is controversial, causes problems/arguments simply because I just post whatever I feel and this is kind of reflected in my post count. You can see I have 10k posts or something which is more than most, if they posted everything they were potentially considering then they would probably have a similar amount.

For example, I just wrote a big paragraph now to go under the above paragraph and deleted it, it would probably have been very controversial and caused 3 pages of back and forth. In the past I would have been like "wte, I'll post wtef I want" but now I'm just old and can't be bothered with the aggro Cheesy"

I'll still come onto blonde and read the usual threads but I want to maximise all free time next year and I can simply do in 30 minutes a day on blonde what I spend hours doing. So no blonde until 11pm every night and then 30 mins or surfing seems to be the +ev decision in this case Cheesy

So my only real goal for 2013 is to simply be the best in the business.

If this is mid stakes cash, cool
If this is coaching, cool
If this is zoom, cool
If this is rush, cool
If this is just simply and solely at my job, then cool
If this is backed for MTT's, then cool

But whatever I choose which will probably be destined by middle of this month and in 2013 I will be the best in the business <3

edit:

Oh and big commitment towards football in 2013. That is something I will keep too.

We have 3 dogs now too which is a lot and love all the time I can spend with them, they are all very needy and demand a lot of love, and very happy to give it!

edit edit:

I also want to spend some considerable time with trading Cheesy

www.tradimo.com  would be such a fool not to take advantage of this, the best beginner trading info in the world and the experts sitting literally next to me whom I can ask anything I want!

As a chum I would say don't do it, it's not worth it.

As a work colleague I would say you are out of your goddam mind, don't be so crazy.

But as someone who gets a rise out of people doing stupid things to themselves

But don't do it.

Two very similar, yet very funny stories Cheesy

1)

One reg who I have a lot of history with and we kinda hate eachother, but like eachother at the same time sent me this message on Skype.. I'm doing like 3 things and not really taking much notice as I'm half asleep, but I basically realise he is really into the hand and thinks its good when its probably (from first glance) pretty bad. He tells me its vs a reg that I know as his second line to me, with absolutely no reason to lie...

[30/12/2012 20:35:49] Jason: http://weaktight.com/5364344
[30/12/2012 20:39:41] Patrick Leonard: wth? Cheesy
[30/12/2012 20:39:57] Jason: what do u think
[30/12/2012 20:40:05] Jason: vs _x_x
[30/12/2012 20:40:51] Patrick Leonard: call/fold >>> all in
[30/12/2012 20:41:14] Jason: im not shoving for value
[30/12/2012 20:41:50] Patrick Leonard: i know
[30/12/2012 20:42:04] Patrick Leonard: but hes not r/folding
[30/12/2012 20:42:09] Jason: why do u think its that much worse than calling
[30/12/2012 20:42:10] Patrick Leonard: dont wry
[30/12/2012 20:42:15] Patrick Leonard: i understand the concept
[30/12/2012 20:42:25] Patrick Leonard: just in this specific spot tis really bad
[30/12/2012 20:42:43] Patrick Leonard: because hes def not improved to 2 pair
[30/12/2012 20:42:54] Jason: im trying to fold flushes and straights
[30/12/2012 20:43:03] Patrick Leonard: yeh he isnt folding f/straigts
[30/12/2012 20:43:05] Patrick Leonard: although
[30/12/2012 20:43:09] Patrick Leonard: he doesnt have many rstraights
[30/12/2012 20:43:35] Jason: i wonder what you would say if i wouldve sent u that from his perspective
[30/12/2012 20:43:38] Jason: vs 3bet river
[30/12/2012 20:43:40] Jason: with 3rd flush
[30/12/2012 20:45:22] Patrick Leonard: that means nothing though
[30/12/2012 20:45:27] Patrick Leonard: what you would/should do
[30/12/2012 20:45:31] Patrick Leonard: and what others do
[30/12/2012 20:45:34] Patrick Leonard: is completely different
[30/12/2012 20:46:01] Jason: no matter what
[30/12/2012 20:46:06] Jason: I thought i could fold his entire range
[30/12/2012 20:46:13] Jason: maybe ksxs
[30/12/2012 20:46:15] Jason: not
[30/12/2012 20:46:16] Jason: probably not
[30/12/2012 20:46:30] Patrick Leonard: kxss and qxss is the same hand
[30/12/2012 20:46:48] Jason: yeabut he has to have a frequency
[30/12/2012 20:47:05] Patrick Leonard: he doesnt have to
[30/12/2012 20:47:09] Jason: yea true
[30/12/2012 20:47:10] Patrick Leonard: people dont do what they should do
[30/12/2012 20:47:19] Jason: _x_x is a good reg
[30/12/2012 20:47:31] Jason: okayisch reg
[30/12/2012 20:49:13] Patrick Leonard: yeh
[30/12/2012 20:49:15] Patrick Leonard: but good regs
[30/12/2012 20:49:21] Patrick Leonard: dont necessarily care about freuqencies
[30/12/2012 20:50:38] Jason: thats good for us
[30/12/2012 20:51:54] Patrick Leonard: not realy
[30/12/2012 20:52:00] Patrick Leonard: best players dont care so much about frequencies
[30/12/2012 20:52:02] Patrick Leonard: bad regs
[30/12/2012 20:52:05] Patrick Leonard: concentrate on it too much
[30/12/2012 20:52:17] Jason: no its like
[30/12/2012 20:52:24] Jason: he has to have a callingfrequency
[30/12/2012 20:52:28] Jason: by gto
[30/12/2012 20:52:40] Jason: and its 1 comb Ks9s or something like that
[30/12/2012 20:52:47] Patrick Leonard: yeh but gto doesnt matter lol

Yesterday, I then get a message from another grinder, who used to have mutual hatred from me, like always arguing in chat box and just general huge rivalry that actually gets on ok with me now.

It might not sound funny, but I found it hilarious that the two biggest villains I have in poker both send me the same river spot from each others angles both thinking that the other one is terrible and one of them lieing about who the hand was against which is pretty absurd too.

The second guy sent me a graph from "today" it was a 35 hour session online where he had played 27000 hands in one day and had made 10k Cheesy He isn't very good but it just shows how much these guys really #lovethegame

2) This one is probably a litle better, so thanks for those who have stayed around for this..

Yay and nay. My day to day work is in no way connected with Tradimo.

However the way the company works is that everybody gives feedback to everybody about everything and people are very open. So for example, I would look a the site and say to the guys, I think this, this and this is bad, or this would make something better and if they agree they will implement changes. This has happened with a few of the things already.

Etruvian, the group brand which owns the "verticles" PokerStrategy.com and Tradimo wants to launch more verticles in the future, I spent a lot of time seeing how Tradimo launched. It was a 2 year process and for such a big thing like this it doesn't happen over night, so I spent a lot of time watching how things worked behind the scenes from a business point of view and I think I learned a lot from that. So much so that I would be a lot more confident in working with a start up company in the future or even helping Etruvian with a future verticle.

I don't get it.

You started off 'crushing' heads up, then stopped.
then you crushed 6 max
Then you crushed Zoom, then stopped
Then last summer you won 50k in a comp..then stopped playin comps!!

then back to 6max you win 30k in Sept, 35k on October....(you musta won >250k in 2012)

Now you are thinking of giving it up altogether!!!

What the hell is going on!!!

Won less than 250k in 2012 Cheesy

Like I said, I just lost motivation, for the most part of last year I played mid stakes and during Scoop I played a lot of tournaments (50k in Sunday 530 and 10th in Sunday Million)

My lifestyle doesn't suit anything to continue playing. Ideally, tournaments would be perfect, but when I have work at 10am its hard to grind until 4am every night and with tournaments you really need to put volume in.

Heads up is dead, nobody plays anybody decent unless you play higher stakes.

6max is only the real game that you can play and Zoom is good because it helps with volume. But when you have had a decent year its hard to sometimes be motivated for grinding NL200.

I'm obviously not thinking of stopping altogether Smiley I'm just trying to find something that suits me and my lifestyle and hopefully something I can be motivated for.

Play live cash at weekends.

Pleno you won £50+ per hour playing live  (a phenominal win rate...absolutely phenominal)

Yet you did this in 40 different casinos with limited or no player info!!!! fantastic

AND

you did this before you were a good player!!!!

(and you must have beaten some of the highest rakes in world too!!)

Live cash - thats the answer!!
