When you decide you want to work on part of your game, how do you go about doing it?
Say you identify you are 3betting in the blinds more than you ought. What do you do next and how do you measure success?
I probably do this different to others.
If I play a hand I think is cool Ill send on skype to about 3-5 people who i respect and get their opinions. If they like the line then I will find myself in that spot again maybe 3 or 4 times and then I will confirm to myself if I like the line and it becomes part of my game plan.
Generally people lose or breakeven because they lose from the blinds heavily. Of course as you have to put money in the pot and fold a lot you lose. Generally you try to keep it below -60bb 100 which you then compensate with winning from the other positions to hopefully somewhere between 61-65 for a good winrate. -40 is considered very good afaik.
Over the last month Ive constructed a gameplan by accident, ie Ive just started doing things and its became my gameplan that ive now thought about what im doing and Im very certain about it, my combined loss rate is -30bb now over 150k hands which is a small sample but still a good indication. Id never share my gameplan on a public forum but its very far from GTO and its different to how any other reg plays but it plays into my strengths that ive worked on over the last few years which is generally being able to play lots of difficult spots post flop.
I never do actual leakbusters I just get feelings in game which make me not feel 100% comfortable and thus question myself and I try to copy the hand instantly and send to a friend. Example...

think its important for this reaon to have these in c call range?
[01:18:35] x: whats ur plan on a

turn or something tho
[01:18:57] x: i would usually just c/f flop but could well be too weak
[01:19:20] Patrick Leonard: i think we should never ever fold especially with bdfd
[01:19:31] Patrick Leonard: otherwise on any kind of broadway card we have no continuing range
[01:19:36] Patrick Leonard: and just get barreled all time
[01:20:23] Patrick Leonard: on any run out
[01:20:29] x: yeah thats very true
[01:20:35] x: but lots of cards we're screwed on
[01:20:56] x: feels really dirty to just c/c and c/f turn
[01:20:58] Patrick Leonard: well we just fold on the ones we brick
[01:21:06] Patrick Leonard: we need some range where were folding turn
[01:21:10] x: and do people bluff 3b a lot here btn vs HJ
[01:21:16] Patrick Leonard: like we should continue on 50-60ish% of turns
[01:21:21] Patrick Leonard: yeh all time
[01:21:26] Patrick Leonard: stopped btn v co as too obv
[01:21:29] Patrick Leonard: so ot vs hj
[01:21:32] Patrick Leonard: as utg still strong
So now from a hand I wasnt 100% sure on, prob about 90% I write to a few friends on skype, confirm my initial thoughts and reiterate a though about button tendancies and will now be automatically in my brain for future spots.
