All booked up for IPT Grand Final next week Smiley Pretty excited about it, love San Remo, it's so nice there. Got a pretty free diary until then, anything decent going on for the next few days?

Enjoying a few days rest after some serious burnout over Monte Carlo week. Had 3/4 hours of dealer dealt flips at DTD last night with Mitch and Stato Cheesy It was "dealers choice", so whoever was on the button, if you could explain it to the dealer, then it went - was really fun! Lost about 15 in a row then got a bit back but still did a chunk to the chubby funsters.

Watching the MC FT back again this afternoon, trying to improve my commentary tekkers and learn a few tricks off Trigg et al...

never had you down for a sleaze teacake!?

Only for Grantham Girls. Though Maggie beats Maria, obv.

You SHOULD have recognized the "ankle" reference, it was a famous political quote by an MP, who, I think, has now passed on to the Government in the sky. Tal, Tighty or AndrewT will quickly snap recognize who it was by.

Is this John Gummer's quote from the other day? He's now Lord Deben (not Lord Degen - great name for poker player, if it isn't already taken BTW) and commented in the Lords that she had lovely hands and lovely ankles...and she knew how to use both (or something similar)

I rather thought it was Alan Clark, but......

[ < > ] I also nailed it. And checkbox thingies.

Anyway, even it were not Alan - & it probably was not - it gives me an excuse to Post this rather splendid line from Wiki about Alan. You really should read his Diaries, they are not like any Political Memoirs you have ever read, they are really quite racy. In more than one sense.

....he had had affairs with Valerie Harkess, the wife of a South African barrister (and part-time junior judge), and her daughters Josephine and Alison. After sensationalist tabloid headlines, Clark's wife Jane remarked upon what Clark had called "the coven" with the line: 'Well, what do you expect when you sleep with below stairs types?', and referred to her husband as an 'S, H, one, T'

I've read one of the diaries- it's interesting to note that's what's left after his wife cut out all of the stuff she thought was too scandalous- goodness knows what's on the cutting room floor.

His wife's quite an interesting/sad character, I think- she married him when she was 16 (and he was 31*), so she spent her entire adult life until he died married to him, in what I'd describe as quite an abusive relationship, although I don't think she ever recognised it as such- it was just all she ever knew life was- your husband being an arse and running off with other women constantly.

* (OK so I looked that fact up on Wiki)

Will give you some feedback on the commentary. I was only going to tune in for 5 mins but ended up watching the whole final, the calibre of player made it very interesting actually. Anyway, I thought you were pretty articulate but placed too much focus on theory, so at times it was more instructional video than final table of a big event. For eg you were left wondering why Atkin didn't jam the A3 from the button 3-handed for some time. Then heads-up started, the culmination of days of poker with two good players and £200k on the table and no mention has been made of this match-up or building excitement for it. In fact a number of hands of HU pass by and Allen flops the nut flush with actionman betting into him but we are still grilling about the A3 instead. This side of things is obv a vital element but I don't think that should be the main focus of commentary for a mainstream audience. The best question with MC came from Tightend who asked Atkin how he felt in the KK hand, not theory, how he felt. Thought you were the best of the bunch, you just need a bit of Vicky Coren, but don't we all.

Thanks Mantis, I think you're spot on there.

I think when paired with Tighty, he covers all that side of it, the drama, the big picture, the emotions etc and I'm more there for the theory.

Definitely agree with you though, I get wrapped up in things and miss some hands / action.

Enjoyed the commentary a lot, probably the first final table I've watched properly, although it was interrupted by claypole phoning me every ten minutes!

Fk knows what eso was doing in there, did he stumble in thinking it was a bookies or something?

I was desperate. Alex kept insisting there was no such thing as reverse implied odds if you are good enough, and LilDave kept disagreeing.

I popped out of the room and saw Eso there, railing a minor interest on his tod

In a moment of weakness i asked him in and then we were stuck with him
