For those who follow Alex & his motley crew, you may be interested that M8itch Johnson (along with DTD's skalie) will be appearing as guests on tonight's Sky Poker TV Show, 10pm on Sky Sports 2.

Feel free to abuse them via Twitter. Be nice to Anna Fowler though.

Sarah Champion won't be on the Show, but here she is with a random.

Keith Johnson Stag Do - Amsterdam - Trip Report

So Keith's stag do happened over the weekend. 24 of us (about 10 poker (Stato, Mitch, Giblin, Evil Pie, Deadman, Ben Dobson, Steve Warbs, PLinton oh and Tom High) and 14 non poker people) descended on the Netherlands for a weekend of silliness. I had never been before, was amazed at the Red Light District, what a bizarre place to exist in the 21st century.

The theme: The Apprentice.

We were split into two teams, and Lord Sugar (Keith) and Nick (Best Man, Rich) gave us tasks, we had to nominate a Project Manager, organise ourselves, complete the tasks and then the losing PM would have to bring two back to the boardroom and Lord Sugar would fire one of them.

One task was to recreate Marco van Basten's goal in the final of Euro 1988. Here are the two teams efforts. Vote for your favourite in a separate thread here: http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=66072.new#new

The original (lol):

The best man had done an amazing job organising all this stuff, one nice touch was a spread betting book, where everyone had been priced up according to how well Keith thought they'd perform, and you could take over/unders on people. You got points for the usual drinking stuff, and winning tasks, negative points for going home early, refusing shots, chundering etc and of course, getting fired. So that was pretty fun, trying to encourage people you've backed overs and discourage people you've gone unders.

Basically the weekend was just an absolute riot, full of laughs and with a great group of lads. Can't wait until the wedding now!

Had a couple of requests for more gory details in my cash game reports, and since interaction has been minimal I guess I'll give it a go. It's always pretty sensitive but last night was pretty exciting so here goes...

I'm playing every night at the Palm Beach in London, probably the nicest casino I've ever been in. The cardroom just has 3 tables, minimum 5/10 stakes.

I've played 5/10 for a few years now but only sporadically and was always a shot until the last few months, so I'm quite new to the daily swings, so keep flirting with biggest losing / winning days and it's very exciting though also never easy on the emotions taking that step up.

I've had a few bad sessions lately and found myself playing badly after a bad start at this level, so when I got stacked at about midnight last night and the lineup was pretty poor, I decided to quit and go and play smaller somewhere else.

I heard about a very big 1/2 game at the empire which is just down the road (for London) so went there.

I couldn't get a seat right away so played a regular sized 1/2 while I waited. In London you're playing different stakes all the time so it's really important to be able to adjust very quickly and play A game regardless. Important not to worry about being 3k down and "getting out of it" in a 1/2 game. I played for about an hour and it didn't look like I was going to get a seat in the good game. I got a text saying Palm game had gotten better and a 25/50 was starting which would take away the best regs and leave the 5/10 soft.

So I went back.

And played the 25/50 game.

I mean I had won £90 back in the 1/2 game, so felt I was ready to step up to 25/50!

It wasn't intentional lol. I actually sat in the 5/10 game while the 25/50 was getting started but kept looking over and thinking, wow that looks like a good game! I texted a reg who was in the game asking him to let me know if it was worth a shot and before he even had a chance to reply I'd stood up and sat down Cheesy I think I'd overheard one of the superstars say something that made my mind up.

Then as soon as I left my seat in the 5/10, said superstar decided he wanted my 5/10 seat and we swapped over!

And once I played one hand I now can't move down to the 5/10 for two hours! So I was stuck there, or it was back to the 1/2 game!

So I got amongst it. The 100 straddle was on a lot, and sometimes the 200. It was a big game, and I only bought in for the minimum (5k) to try and run it up.

I didn't really get involved much, but it was really fun and lively with some good banter and was about level at 5am when they called for table charges. At 5am they charge double so this would be £60 for the next hour, and I had to leave at 530 to pick up Victoria. So I said no ty, goodnight, as did most of the others.

Then the floor said we could play half an hour instead and pay half price, so everyone agreed to that.

As you can guess, I then played a big one.

Open   £175, bb 3bets £525, I 4bet £1500, he jams £6k effective, I sigh call.

"Twice?" I offered, he snap declined saying he would only run it twice if it was an £150k+ pot. OK then.

So arsehole clenched, I sweated the board, without knowing what he had. He had already warned everyone that he loves to slowroll and if the pot was £20k or less it's fair game he had said!

A rather awful   runout. Not confident.

"Ace high" he announced. Sweet, a chop! Oh no, I forgot about the slowrolls...

"Me too, Ace King" I said.

"Ace Jack. You're good" he said.

Wait for it...

Please don't slowroll me...this is one of the biggest pots I've played...

MUCK.

BOOM!

That was pretty fkn exciting and I left abs buzzing. Pleased I'd manned up and taken a shot, not sold action, not pussied out when the game wasn't as good as I'd hoped and got out of a hole and won nicely for the day.

Loving London!

Over the last couple of months I've watched all of Game of Thrones - obviously absolutely loved it. Best show ever maybe? Can only think of Breaking Bad that comes close. We'll save that debate for the TV show thread though...

To fill the void I signed up to Netflix and getting into Narcos, Gavin and Stacey, and Derek.

Derek is my favourite at the moment, but reckon Narcos has serious potential. Gavin and Stacey is decent but nothing special.

Poker wise it's all cash cash cash at the moment. I'm skipping Berlin and also skipping Malta. I think that's the way I see 2016 going too. WSOP (shorter tho), EPT Barcelona, and EPT Prague being my only trips abroad - though I really fancy going to Monte Carlo for the cash games and to play the Grand Final there.

I think as you become more settled somewhere and start to build a life and especially when there's great action on your doorstep it makes going away that bit less appealing. It makes Victoria happy too.

I'm really excited about Keith's wedding on 31st October, and then the WPT in Nottingham after that, and then trying to book a little holiday in Iceland for straight after that. Hopefully, I'll have earned it.

Reading your hand histories actually give me a sweat. Not quite clenched arse cheeks like you mentioned yours were but certainly enough to brace myself a little bit.

I absolutely love Gavin and Stacey, apart the actually characters of Gavin and Stacey themselves.

Good luck in the continued shot taking Alex!

OK here's one from last night that got the juices flowing...

5/10/20, theres a limp for 20, reg raises £100 CO, I call on the button, the bb, straddle (both regs) and limper all call so we're 5 ways.

two hearts (£500) 4 checks to me, I check. I think there's some decent reasons for checking here with 3 regs in the pot, but on balance it's probably better to just bet.

(£500) bb, straddle both check, limper bets £125, reg folds, I raise to £325, bb folds, straddle cold calls, limper folds.

(£1275) straddle leads for £525. I put him allin for £2025 total.

I think he's really strong here a lot, often has a backdoor flush, but usually it's a small one ( type hand) and it's a really tough call with a small flush (which is still a bluff catcher) here. And obviously my hand is the nut bluffing hand and caps him at a hand like K4hh. Obviously for every hh combo we have to assume he has the same cc combos as well ( etc) and doesn't have to be bluffing these very often at all (or have other weirdly played sets / two pairs) to make this a profitable bluff.

If he never folds a small flush or is never bluffing or is never bet/folding a set or something (all of which perfectly feasible that he doesn't!) then it's obviously terrible. I only need him to fold just over half the time, and if I'm not bluffing with this hand, then I'm never bluffing, so I thought on balance it was a good spot to go for it.

Results?

He called

Didn't get much of a sweat unfortunately, would've been interesting to find out what he would've done with a baby flush.

Fun though Smiley
