Ahh, how lovely.

And can we see Victoria's engagement ring, too?

Glad you caught the Northern Lights.  Will have to try again myself soon.

Tomorrow I'd highly recommend tuning in to http://www.dusktilldawncasinonottingham.com/live.php to watch the cash game I'll be in.

It's a £5k min buy-in 5/10/25 game with the following lineup:

Sam Trickett
Rob Yong
Taffy
Martin Frey
Mitch Johnson
Keith Johnson
Richard Berridge

and poor me battling it out with those heavyweight sluggers.

Expect the straddles to get out of hand quite early too, depending on the seat draw, so it's going to be a huge game with loads of action guaranteed. I'm pretty excited.

what is your strategy for tonights game?

you know all the players well, so that helps?

is it a bigger game than you would normally play at dtd? or in london?

Yeh I've played with everyone a lot, except for Sam who I've played almost never with. Sam will be a big threat, not just because he's very good, but because this will be a small game for him and that might make him put loads of pressure on and play really aggro.

I reckon this'll be the biggest game I've ever played - even though on paper it's not. I've technically played at bigger stakes, but it's always been a bit more sensible with less action and not as many straddles as I expect there to be tonight. My regular games in London are this size (a bit smaller perhaps), but I suspect tonight will be much more crazy.

There's just so many action players tonight. I suspect Rob, Berridge and Sam will buy in for the most, and there'll be some serious battles there. Taffy also buys in deep, he'll be heavily involved too, but my impression is that he's more involved for the fun of it, rather than the serious competitiveness of the other three. That'll be a really interesting mix.

Keith, Mitch and Martin will play more solid, and try and find a good spot in the midst of all the madness created by the above four. I'll be in that category too I imagine!

It's hard because the viewers all want you to play crazy aggro and go batshit, and when I've watched the 1/2/4 I've often thought I'd provide much better entertainment and play really crazy if I played on there. But now I am, and it's not a 1/2/4, its a 5/10/25/50/100...I expect I'm gonna find out that it's not that easy to just rofl about firing away £5k bluffs for the viewers entertainment!

thank you

over and above the "shot taking" element and hoping to have a profitable night, do you think there are any long term advantages to appearing on live streams as a cash game player?

i know you play far wider now than previously when it was a small player pool in a provincial club, but did you consider potential upsides and downsides for your ROI of people seeing your game in action?

Can't think of any long term advantages of being on a stream though, pretty much a negative freeroll. Since it goes on youtube after, I expect regs from London to watch it  at some point and yeh won't be good for me. Having said that, I'll play differently tonight than I will vs them, and don't tend to play too exploitatively vs the good regs anyway, so even if they saw me pull some crazy move tonight, it likely won't be that useful info for them, GTO is GTO etc...

Cliffs: EV of playing tonight and supporting DTD in their new innovations >>> giving up some free info.

So the game was a load of fun. I played one huge pot early on - £900 3 ways with AA vs Trickett (AQ) and Taffy (88), comes 982ssx and I bet ~£1400, Taf makes it £4k with £2k back and obviously it all goes in.

With friends like Skalie and Giblin, who needs enemies!

That was a £16k pot. From there I treaded water for a few hours, but won 4 or 5 medium sized pots with some well timed good hands holding up, and ended up a small winner (<£2k - nothing in that game - there was a £30k winner and £30k loser!).

This was the sickest hand of the night by far though...£26k pot...(Start at 1hr 55m if that link doesn't do that)

Think it might be a weekly game now, on a Tuesday night...

Sigh, had a pretty frustrating session. No cards rele all night and grinding out fluctuating +-£50 all night. Then called £60 river bet with A9 on T94K5 in a 3bet pot which was good for a bigish pot. Should've quit then cos was really tired. I then found a great spot to cold 4bet 67 from the small blind vs active internet kids button 3bet. Check shoved a T85 flop and didnt get there vs middle set for £350 pot sigh. Defo shouldve quit then, but stayed to tilt off £140 all in pre with 55. Not a good session. But shouldn't've been as bad as it was. Need the disicpline to walk away when I'm not in the right state to play, and usually I can but sometmes not. I quite like my move with the 67, unforunate he flopped a set ofc, and also unfortunate not to get there. But was tilted by his called with 88 pre, (£42 playing £160 total).

5 years on...

Thought you recovered really well from that early hit.Its easy to be 'in control' when you are winning but to take such a hit so early in such a game ( live stream etc) takes a bit of resilience. Thought you played really well after that and to come out ahead was well deserved.

So I stuck around in Nottingham all weekend for this 24 hour cash weekend. We had a great night out on thursday but come friday it was down to business. 7pm Friday until 3am Sunday with just 2 hours sleep in between. It was brutal! I played some 5/10 holdem, some 5/10 plo, some 5/5/10 ROE, some 5/5 holdem and even some 1/1.

Results were pretty bad, I lost at almost every game. The level head I tried to keep on the streamed game was hard to maintain on such little sleep and it affected my play for sure.

Games weren't great, but a lot of fun and the buzz around the club about these promotions was fantastic.

PJ (who I've been backing lately) took an early lead in the "spin a hand" promo (52 sections of Skalie's wheel, each with a different card, you collect cards and best poker hand plays Rob HU Deal or no deal for £25k). He span the (which also won him a £1k cash prize Cool ) and which was looking good, but there were so many people with hands like TTK75 (Mitch) or 4 to a flush who had a load of outs to beat aces, we thought it was very unlikely PJs aces would hold up.

So he was grinding all weekend on little sleep also, sweating each wheel spin, anti railing everyone, trying to get spins himself to improve his hand. Even people with a hand like A3 had three outs to beat him as AA3 would beat bare AA.

It got to 2am and the last spin was a 4am and they announced double spins, so even more chance of getting beat! If you got certain hands you'd get extra spins too - quads (1) straight flush (2) or a royal (4). And all the people in the club with any remote chance of beating PJ stuck around till the death. Never seen the place so busy at 4am on a Sunday!

Anyway, we fade spin after spin, and amazingly his Aces held. Deal or no deal tomorrow, streamed at 920pm! There's hope yet...
