hey man. get a grip. you dont have to get up go to work and get told you will be doing over time this weekend. ask everyone who has a job and 95% will say you have the nut life
"life outside of DTD/Gala is boring and tedious." this frightens me as there is so much more to life than poker. but i would start thinking about wsop next year now and make plans to ensure you are there in 2012 (unless the worlds ended obv).
I've had a few months with no job and whilst initially it's awesome it does get a bit boring after a while. Especially if everyone you know is busy. At least having a job is something to occupy your time

Since i was 12 I have only ever spent 6 months of my life unemployed during which time I played poker to pay the mortgage and other bills etc (binked a few MTTs, not grinding it out daily on cash like you sickos) spent 90% of my time drinking stella from 11am and playing PS3 or being on holiday. Now my goal is to get my roll big enough so i can live like that til the day I die. Its how i imagine Herbie's life to be.
Anyways my point is even though i personally would never want to grind cash for a living, having a real job is shit. Soak it up man. Soak it up for as long as you can.

Amen to that...I know this as I have a real job.

With regard to working, it obviously depends on what you are going to do. Clearly grinding out a living playing poker is more fulfilling and more lucrative than a fair selection of 9-5 jobs (although you have the offset of unsociable hours and uncertain cashflow).
I don't know Alex, but from the way he writes, his observations and background I'd guess that he has the potential to have a working career significantly above the standard 9-5 stuff, so it's a different equation.
Only he can decide on his path, but I don't think the "jobs are rubbish" line is necessarily the correct advice.
Keep up the diary though Alex - great read.

Excellent, the only reason I'm in this moldy little diary is because you haven't posted in your thread for a while, TBH

really enjoyed our HU session, but if you were only 70 up then we paid 27 in rake! ouch!
thought i played quite well for 45 mins - obv gotta win those showdowns (dont believe I won any when money went all in before river, but could be wrong)
the spelling mistake was initially an error on stars (not that i couldnt spell), i wanted just outrageous, but it was taken, i then tried outrrraaaageous - which was [ ] taken, but it wouldnt let me have it, im then mid delete and think - fk it ill thorw 76 on the end. unfortunately in the deleting process i forgot to add the "e". I saw my mistae immd after it said congrats you have an account.
I then thought it was kinda funny as I typo alot online - so kept it and rolled it on to most othe sites/forums etc
Did he stick his money in with top pair for metagame purpose while mid triple range merging? I know this is how he rolls
Fully agree with you about leaving Gal in the early hours, its quality must be said.

yeh it was fun, i had trouble in the first ten minutes figuring you out, and although I got there with in the FD vs your two pair for a double up, I still felt like you were "winning" but yeh I ran good after that hitting a lot of flops and holding in all in situations. You're probably right about me winning every allin, but there was only 3 or 4 and what do you expect if u keep getting your money in bad!

Thanks, yeh it's just a lull. Like I said, once the boys are back from Vegas and Hannah is back for good then I'll go back to thinking life is the nuts. Yes Herbie, way more to life than poker, that's why I'm missing all the nonpoker things I usually do when everyone's around.

oh yeh. this guy was a massive tool on our table. young internet guy, thought he was the dogs when in fact I thought he was pretty terrible. Seriously annoying as well, constantly asking me and giveyourcash what we had in hands and what we would've done if X,Y,Z happened. FUCK OFF! And he had the worst table etiquette ever, showed no class when winning and he was a terrible loser, constantly berating fish and being so rude. (in b4 rubs)
So whenever he lost pots me and Tom kept needling him and giving him some pretty epic rubdowns cos he was a giant bellend. was pretty comedy
