Wasn't at the desk last night, but every time I have been at the desk for an uncapped 1/2 the average buy in has been 1k whether half is pocketed for a later time I haven't noticed.
It was running so deep that the 1/2 players were priced out hence the 1-400 cap game but again not done the desk for a while

Jaosn it's kind of a contradiction to say its not possible to make a living at £1/£2 cos the game isnt really big enough then saying someone who is pretty much rolled for the game and has experience in it should get staked? Personally I think you should play £1/£2 on yuor own and not be too bothered about much else, maybe K&K would take your action at 2/5 and 5/10 @ dtd but Im sure they will both agree with me that it isnt really worth it as that game just isnt that soft imo and you're £/hour prolly wont even be much higher. IDK anything about £2/£5 at DTD but Neil's advice on it I would imagine is spot on... If you're running well and feel like a shot, sell 30-35% and go take a punt at a £5/£10 game in london when the games are good, or go with the team to an EPT and grind the games there, much better shot taking imo Also now would be a great time with less financial pressure to develop a game you can beat online, that way if live action ever dries up you always have a revenue stream. And obv great advice from Australia's number 2. Just because you're rolled for a game doesn't mean you are ready for the swings. But you'll learn that on your own no doubt.

All I am saying lildave is the game big enough to make a living off. I doubt it is but I don't honestly know. I ain't saying that he should be staked in this as he now has the roll for it. He does not have the roll for bigger especially when they are playing bigger. Maybe someone could work out how much money goes off the table in rake per hour in the £1/£2 and £5/£10 games. Then work out if 8 guys sat with say £500 in £1/£2 and after 6 hours of play what's left on the table. Then look at who is on your table say hi der to Julian, Mitch, Keith, Nick, Simon et al then ask who is +ev in the game. I don't want to start sounding like a troll , nit , ranker or abused as a child. I'm just trying to be realistic.
Without the additional income from a business/job/online then I think it's an extremely tough nut to crack. Making a living solely from live poker is not as easy as some think. Even if we put it as high as 20% (5% is usually the accepted figure) then only one player on your table is going to be that person.

You seem to veer from saying that you are making a living from playing one £300 tourney a month to saying you can't make a living playing £1/£2 cash. For what it's worth, the above 5 names don't appear on the same table that often. There are often 2+ £1/£2 games going each evening.

I certainly don't say I make a living from one comp. I still have an income of a 3 hundred a week from renting out the window round but they may as well just give that too Tesco direct coz my bill is £200+ a week down there. Poker is my main source of income but over the last 2 years I have been lucky enough to not have to go out 5 nights a week and can make do on a couple of tourneys a month. Although I ain't had a decent score since my mum became sick but I can't really blame that (let's call it variance) lol

Skippy I got some of the names from alex post a few pages back but on my phone so can't quote very well. I only see you guys during festivals and see plenty of cash tables but even if you have 2 tables running I would not want 2/3 of the 8 to be any of these guys and if we look at game selection then I would see Mitch simon alex et al climbing over themselves to get on the table. It all ends bitterly and we saw some evidence of this when alex was playing his pupil and Mitch wanted to play him. Mark my words if there ain't enough money to go round then mates will fall out.

I have a window business that pays my bills Jon. I have not had to work since my wife got pretty nearly 5 years ago and now have a four year old and twin 3 years olds. I used to play 5 nights a week prior to this but decided that I would rather bring up my family now. Oldest starts school in sept and twins next year so things may change but the games I used to play no longer get the runners/prize pools. I won't play £500+ events unless I win a seat tho unless I have permission from the wife

Still love her to bits as the mother of my kids but we ain't exactly talking. All my fault tho so need to try harder.
