Just started this 100freezeout at DTD. First hand iso  and backdoor straight flush. Knock someone out with a river check/shove. Very next hand open flop Two Clubs and get it in vs . Turn straight, river flush. 3x average already. Lol runlikegodaments.

Robs 37/6 heads up record is against some of the best on line and live players in this country. With Rob being Rob it is not very often you will see his blog bringing up hands that Rob has actually won. He tends to post about the ones where he losses or thinks he has made a mistake. This blog is one of the exceptions although it does question if the call is a bad one.

http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/blog.php?profile=4

This villan happened to be a mate of mine and this was the night Alex spoke about when i had turned upto play the £5/£10 but ended up playing everything else. We arrived too late and the game was already full. As my mate is known for being an "action player" the table agreed that they would make the game 9 handed if he sat with £5 grand.

Everything had just about finished when this heads up game started and i was fortunate enough to be able to watch from inside the Vip room. me being me i cant sit still for more than 5 minutes (unless playing). So after stroking Robs dog and chatting to kerrie i was pretty bored and probably fell asleep.

During the hand in question i looked up to see a crowd of 4 or 5 guys starring through the glass (usually they have the current running through the glass so you cant see in). Thats when i heard my mate say "all in". Well me being me and as subtle as a brick i immediatly jumped up for a better look (what a dick). I dont think either he or Rob were bluffed into thinking that i really wanted to go for a piss but at the time it was the first excuse that came into my head. I went and stood out side with the former lap club owner (James iirc but probably aint that coz he is Iranian). My mate had insta shoved according to the crowd and they all thought he was strong and Rob cant call. They were saying my mates got "it" but intrestingly none of them could say what "it" was lol.

Rob does not emphasise how long he contemplated this call for. He must have played this hand through his head and and out loud for a good 5 minutes before making the call. As Rob pointed out my mate looked increasingly more uncomfortable the longer Rob thought. When Rob called and the cards flipped over you got the  snap change of mind from the rail who said things like "oh easy call, your mate had to do that move to win the hand and oh a £4k call means nothing to Rob". I shook my head and said Rob made the call because he thought he had won the hand. Pure and simple he knew he was winning and nothing else.

After chatting with Rob outside about his car and former arab owners as soon as i got in my mates car i asked him about the shove. He told me that he had played the hand strong because of the flopped/turn draws. He believed that his Ace high may have been good on the river but felt for sure that Rob would pass all marginal hands and would need an abso monster to call. He said he looked confident with his shove , because he was, but within seconds knew that Rob had him beat as Rob started talking. i said he needed to work on looking cool because he was shaking like a shitting dog. I asked if he felt sick at losing the hand and he said " no its ONLY 7 grand. What really hurts is losing the game and that i ALMOST beat one of the best heads up players i've played."

good luck Alex rooting for you

Nah Rob's really good - he puts you in all sorts of horrible spots and keeps the pressure on 100%. Horrible player to be oop to and it's going to be very tough.

You only have to win 40% of the time to break even. With his aggressive style you should be able to get it in flipping or a slight dog reasonably easily. HU matches should be pretty easy when getting all the money in as a 41/59 dog is still +EV for you. Smiley Depends on the stack depth though obv the shallower the better for you in this one.

Did a quick bit of pokerstove work for a rough example.

If (a big if) he's shoving a range of TT+,AQs+,AQo+ only, you should be calling with 88+,ATs+,KTs+,QJs,AJo+,KQo

Throw in just two air combos, (for the sake of argument the  and  three diamonds) and your calling range should widen to 55+,A9s+,KTs+,QTs+,AJo+,KQo

Nice to see Rob is looking out for ya mate. 1K is definitely (obviously) out of your roll and watching you spunk it all off would not be cool.

Its a one off....

For what its worth getting 3:2 on my money I'd happily punt a big %age of my roll on this sort of game

I wouldn't get too excited about this though, Rob makes a habit of offering games that he never actually plays

Predict an upswing to finish the night level. Most posts start with a loss but you normally claw it back champ.

I myself can confirm it's not too cold out to be bouncing naked on the trampoline in the garden.
