I haven't played with you at all Alex but I think the most pertinent point is that berating players is not going to help you in the future.  If you went to a nice restaurant with a girl you were trying to impress and the sommelier came over and when you ordered your wine he said to you "ha!!! you obviously know nothing about wine...this is the worst possible choice" you would be hugely embarrassed and probably never choose to go to that restaurant again and the sommelier, even though he was right, would have done the worst possible thing for the restaurant.  Similarly when you embarrass players by saying how badly they played their hand they are less likely to stay and give you the money back and in the future when they see you at the table and they have a choice they may decide to play another game.  You have lost a customer and there is  enough natural wastage in the game with players going broke as it is without losing value through things you can change.  Just tap the table and say nice hand and think about how much you earned from paying the hand the way you did from an EV perspective because at the end of the day every hand played against losing players is a hand where you are getting paid.  It could be so much worse and you could be sat with £1200 in a £1-2 game with Mitch where you are effectively working for DTD again ;-)

Think you should prob just buy shaun a beer and apologise, even though shaun's response wasn't the best line it seemed fair enough.

Alex I like you so hope you don't mind my honest view..

You're out of line more than anyone else here and being uber competitive all your life doesn't make it ok to conduct yourself badly, particularly when it is your living. When my boss gives me a shitty task to do, I have to smile, pretend I can't wait to get stuck in and get the job done as best I can with a smile on my face (whilst reading blonde on and off obv). That's the way you gotta look at it when you get a beat, because there are shitloads more coming your way. Just say nice hand or stay quiet and play on. Even just step quietly from the table for a few mins. I know it's a few incidents, but ultimately those are the ones that people remember.

A few ppl have complimented mitch on his behaviour at the table. While it pains me to be too nice to him, I have to agree. To balance my rim rubbing I will call him the chinger (chubby-ginger merge) for the remainder of the post. He's likely one of the biggest cash winners at dtd and as shaun has alluded to, a lot of people will know they are hugely -ev to him and doing money but will continue to do so because of how he conducts himself. Your bottom line long term can be affected a lot by one or two incidents.

There's also a lot of dodgy people in an around poker, saying the wrong thing to the wrong guy could lead to getting beaten etc. I know of someone who's face was slashed (years ago and before poker was so mainstream tbf) for berating someone.

Kudos to you though for not really arguing and accepting it's an issue that you'll deal with.

I laughed alot at alot of points in this thread. I'm not getting into the bitching, whining and name calling, but I'll give my 2 cents.

Iv known both Alex and Shaun for quite a long time. I can safely say they both have clashing personalities.

Alex is working so hard on the points raised. Your a great guy Alex, you know your faults, your working on them. Grace doesn't come overnight (it's took me 20 years getting battered at everything bar swimming to gain what bit I have lol).

Shaun, your a nice bloke, I enjoy chatting to you and have always considered you a friend. You always stress that your an old man stuck in your ways. You can't call someone out on a public forum like you have mate. You've called Alex out for being immature and childish, yet your post is as much so. You tried to make out your doing him a favour, yet all your doing is attempting to poke fun. This isn't the best place for you to try it tbh.

I think Shauns made some good points fwiw, but in the wrong way. I think Alex is more than aware of the issues raised. A callout on a public forum isn't the nice way to go about this. All it needed was a quiet word...

After all this praise for me in this thread, surely a sponsorship is on the cards!

(in before McDonald's etc etc)

I think Alex has deffo got a mardy streak in him, but probably as hes not really used to losing/playing for amounts of money he currently is and is so desperate to prove he can win long term and do this for a living. Outside of poker ive got to know him quite well in the last year or so and is deffo a good guy at heart who can handle AT LEAST 3 beers on a night out.

Having to report losing sessions & explain each big hand you play on a diary in a public forum prob doesn't help being frustrated over losses etc.

With regards to the Shaun stuff, I'm sure he didn't mean the slowroll as hes not that kind of guy, but it looks like you both enjoy each others action.

Other things i would like to reply about;

-LOL @ Stato_1  Ged HU4Rollz
-MBN 4 Trickett & Ivey comparison
-Honeybadger, do i know you?
-Costas you are paying £18 too much for haircuts. xxx

Alex apologies for the £2 gag. Unfortunately you got caught in the crossfire of a hand history with Shaun from years ago which had come up in conversation earlier on in the day. Ftr I do peel 55 and 22, and against you (based on the hands you played in this session) I probably do check raise AQ. You got your chips in good and got unlucky. However 95% of the time that I ch raise I've got the nuts. I think you could have got away from the hand. You'd invested £59 into a pot that ended up costing you £260. See you soon!

Redarmi, cos - I've not been accused of berating players, nor do I do that as I understand all the points you've raised and agree with them. I've been accused of taking losing badly, being mardy, ungraceful etc. I don't berate ppl. I don't know what lil missc is talking about when she says something about shouting at players. I don't believe I have ever done that. If I have it was a long time ago.

Lol @ rub down. No better feeling than to lose a pot and then get told by the winner that you played your hand bad!

Ok I was wrong then, I thought u wouldn't call with those hands or c/r aq. I'm hesitant to suggest you might just be saying you would cos I said you wouldn't but I'll just leave it. Pretty sick rubs though!

I don't really know either Alex or Shaun well, but they both seem to me to be decent blokes who'll I'll happily share a drink or two with.

The calling each other out in public doesn't help either of you, and of course you can defend yourself from criticisms that have been made - but going on the offensive and retaliating with criticisms of your own is probably not the best approach.

I think next time you're together at DTD, a handshake and a beer will probably be the classiest course of action and let what has happened previously be history.

See you both next weekend, and you should both feel free to get me a beer a well if you want Wink
