I've never understood all this bullshit about eating a steak rare.
Personally I prefer it rare but if someone wants it cooked 'til it's more or less charcoal what's the problem?
Surely if that's how someone prefers it then that's how it's best for them?
Same with people who bang on about raw fucking fish. I find it absolutely disgusting and prefer it cooked, preferably surrounded in greasy batter next to a plate full of chips and mushy peas.
Does it make someone a philistine because their taste buds find raw fish or rare steak revolting?
Seems very weird to me.
Thank f**k for some food sanity.
Is Soulville that classy that you'd only go if you have a comma day?

I LOVE SUSHI a bit like I love steak but I can understand it's not for everyone. If I was one of those Sushi haters I wouldn't ask them to grill my sashimi for 10 mins on either side because it's just wrong, a bit like a non rare steak.
It loses flavour when it's well done and that's not how it's meant to be eaten!
I won't beat you in an argument on this one, I'll leave it to Sean and Alex who are better with words to explain why I'm right and you're wrong.
I also wish to say that the only person ever who should be allowed a well done steak is sharplea and I'll buy him one next time I see him (prob a while!) for his understanding and great steak attitude!

Unfortunately their steak credentials went through the floor when they mentioned Soulville Steakhouse.

Theres loads of reasons why you shouldnt eat steak well done. A pretty good reason is if you work in a restaurant kitchen and you overcook a steak by mistake you keep it on the side and just reheat for the next person who orders it well done. Also a kitchen will often use the older cuts of meat as they figure if youre ordering a steak well done you dont have very good taste buds. The main reason though to have it rare/med rare is cos it tastes better that way - fact!

If you grill sashimi for 10 minutes it is no longer sashimi it's just cooked fish.
You haven't ruined your sashimi you've just made a completely different meal.
As for steak losing flavour that's bullshit too. It doesn't lose flavour it just changes from one particular flavour to another. If you prefer the flavour of rare steak then the flavour has become worse, if you prefer the taste of charcoal then it's become better.
People just get a bit gay about food sometimes because they think it makes them look sophisticated.
Basically whatever you like is best for yourself and there's no way anybody can sensibly argue otherwise.

Taste is subjective though, what tastes shit you you tastes good to me and vice versa. And from my experience the lower quality cuts of meat often just end in pies, stews etc.
And the best chefs can make great dishes out of the poor cuts=cheap to make, and that why they make a lot of money.

Sigh. I've only been once, and it was 3 years ago on my first date with Hannah lol. It's the only steakhouse in Nottingham that I know of and was alright.
Where is the best place to go Matt? Open to suggestions.

These are merely reasons not to order steak well done in a restaurant not neccessarily a reason for not eating a well done steak.

Unfortunately I'm not a steak connoisseur so I can't really help.
I've been to Soulville though and I really enjoyed it so if that's what you like then I'd strongly suggest going there.
Not sure if Cos would approve of a steak place where you can get a side order of onion rings and there's ketchup on the table but if you enjoy it then surely it's got to be a good thing?
