Prague Day One

9am start meant yesterday was a semi-write off. We touched down at 230 and got settled in. We're staying at Hotel Corinthia, a 5 star hotel and casino, with cash games 24/7, comps every day, the gsop, wpt not to mention the gym, pool and sauna on the 26th floor. The rooms are really nice and it's gonna be a pretty sick place to stay for the week.

I'd had about 3 hours sleep so an afternoon nap was really needed. Got up in time for the 8pm comp which was a 400euro turbo. Awesome structure, 10k chips, 15 minute levels. 29 entries - perfect. I love comps like that, over in 4/5 hours even if u win (I imagine), not much thought required, it's obv really crapshooty, but 3/4 of the field had no idea about stack sizes or push/fold strategy so felt it was a really good value comp. 4k and change ftw, I was psyched for it.

The whole stable was playing it so inevitably clashed horns with a few of them. After losing most pots when we were deeper, my skill prevailed in the 10bb stage, doubling up twice (Comedy guy raises and I shove 15bbs with KJ he's like "bad hand, very bad hand....ok I call!" with 92o lol). Held there and found AQ vs Mark McCluskey's A7 to knock him out and go to 21bigs (average) with 13 left and the sole Brit survivor. Then lost T9ss vs K8o for 8 bigs then A7<QT for the rest and it was over. One of my favourite tournament experiences of the year though. It's every night at 8 so will play a few more hopefully.

Didn't fancy playing cash for some reason, went back to the room with Keys and Thigh and chilled out there for a few hours until 2/3 am when we went to bed. Body clock used to 5/6am bed so didn't like the 9am start + nap + early bed time so annoyingly I woke up at 430 and couldn't get back to sleep. Grinded out 400 hands on bwin, losing a couple hundred then headed down to the restaurant at 630 for breakfast. Still pretty wide awake I happened to stumble across a cash game and decided to sit for a few hours.

Based on the spread I witnessed earlier on and the fact it was 7am I was sure the one table they had running would be a 1/2 or 2/5 sort of affair so I sat down in an empty seat, got out my wallet then got told the game was 25/50 sighhhhh. With my tail between my legs I faded that and went back to the room.

Thigh's birthday tomorrow, epic night out in store...

I like fillet blue but do enjoy a rib eye obv done a little longer. My wife likes hers tuned to charcoal.

Any pictures of the full team Alex? Only found out Simon was with  K n K this weekend after sharing the table with him.  He has to be one of the pleasantest young men I have played with and could one day be up there with Julian Nick and George.

I like fillet blue.

A man of good food taste, if a little suspect in terms of dress sense.

Prague Day Two

Me, Stato, Mitch and Thigh headed to the 26th floor of the hotel to check out the spa zone, and ensure we were fully relaxed for the day ahead. We had a swim in an indoor heated pool surrounded by glass windows so you could see over the whole of the city. Was pretty awesome. We had booked in for some massages. Two masseuses between four so we did it in shifts, Mitch and I going first. I got the Thai one and that came with a few surprises. Despite some extremely close shaves with the party zone, I managed to keep Grandma in mind and keep my cool, and for the most part, really enjoyed the experience. Walking around afterwards, I could really feel the benefits - it was amazing.

Live Cash beckoned after that, the hotel casino had two 2/5 games and one 1/2, I sat in a short handed 2/5 game that was 3 handed for a while, not a great game so I booked a small win and stood up and went to the hotel to relax and get ready for the big night out.

We were going to the Hilton for drinks in this super swanky bar "cloud nine" or something, overlooking the city. It was soooo cool, can't remember being in a cooler bar before, really enjoyed it. Had a nice cocktail and faded the flip for the tab. Good times.

Keith was still in the EPT and was due to be finished soon, so we headed to the Hilton's main restaurant. One of those rare pleasures, an expensive restaurant that you really feel you've got your moneys worth. Slightly regret my choice in main course, I can't remember really what I had as by this time, the drinks were in full flow, but I remember an AMAZING cut of meat with some dumplings. Everyone raved about their meat too, we were all extremely satisfied. I had a word with the waiter and he managed to organise a cake for Thigh, who turned 22 yesterday. Several scoops of mango sorbet later and we were really for the bill.

With a tip, the bill came about 400 euros, a few of us were fairly cagey at the start about whether to CCR for it. I was sort of on the fence, I was gonna go with the flow, didn't particularly care about just paying 50euros each, but once the first couple of fence sitters said "fuck it i'm in", it didn't take any convincing at all to join in. The previous biggest CCR I've done was in Prague last time, that was about 250, 6way, which stato lost. I abs love freerolling nice dinners like that, and 8 ways, it's pretty hard to lose. In fact, how could anyone lose 8ways?

Have I given away the ending with my tone?! I get heads up with sky poker's Lolraise, a new addition to the group, and there's 50euro in buyout money in the middle so we obv say, loser pays the entire bill, winner gets the buyout money so effecitvely gets paid 50 euros for eating. I would've felt bad if he'd lost anyway, so happily digged very deep into the pockets and paid it off. Sigh. That was painful.

Lost a four way taxi flip to get to the hilton as well - not running good. Things did not end there. We were down to 6 by the time we got to a club, and we got a round in, flipped for it, I lost again. Next round, I lose again. At about 100euro a round, it was getting a bit sick. I'd lost a 4, 8, 6 and 6 way flip in a row, combined cost about £600 and odds of 1151/1. Ouch baby, very ouch.

Everyone seemed to be having a really good night though, they were all in very high spirits for some reason. It didn't really bother me, if I cared about losing then I wouldn't flip in the first place. I loved every sweat and always love the feeling when I fade it and when you lose it's just meh, shit happens. I'd faded loads of CCRs recently so was probably due some run bad. But 1151/1?!?!

The night out was fkn epic though, and although can't remember much of it, I remember laughing a lot and just being very silly. Made it back to the room at about 4, sobered up and decided to try and get out of it by playing some cash. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Lost 600 in the first half hour, then made 1.5k in the next half hour. Sick swing, ending up 900$ in profit which = about what I spent on the night out wiiiiiiiii #outofit. Pass out in bed a happy, happy man.
