With exes for travelling to trips etc, surely u need to aim higher next year than 50k? I mean if u go on 4 trips a year and spend money on meals, hotels etc, thats a decent chunk gone. New years aims have to got to be to play online more?

everytime I go on a trip with my mates to a poker place I do my nuts EVERYTIME

Alex is a bit more sensible than me and you though dave so perhaps a £15k yearly budget for hotel/travel expenses isn't too unreasonable. providing ofc this figure does not include vegas. Tongue

15k is quite a lot more than I'd budget for that - dont BOC that hard!

4 trips a year sounds about right, each one costs about 1500 I reckon. Prague flights were 100, 5* Hotel was 350 and nights out and meals didn't come to much over 1k. So 1500 per trip, and spend a decent amount of each trip actually playing poker so would hope to cover/almost cover expenses.

The costs involved with Vegas just seem ridiculous, not sure about that yet.

Will do new years resolutions soon and will defo include playing online more.

Why do you think Vegas is "ridculous"?
Once you get over cost of getting there it's cheaper to live n eat than Europe
Just 24/7 in your face gambling if u resist it / be sensible it's a great place to go lots choice poker wise if. Want a day off there's plenty to do

Sorry Alex, think you're being a bit naive there.

As long as you aren't being like Flushy are not planning to live it up, then Vegas can be done pretty cheaply.

Best tip I can give you if there's 3-4 of you: Fly to Los Angeles direct from UK and then hire a one way car and drive it, or if on your own, jump on Southwest Airlines to Vegas. As Vegas is a premium destination, flights are over £100 more pp. In the current BA sale, Vegas is £579 return. LA, on the other hand, is £429 ffs! A Southwest flight on top of that will be about $50pp. Note the $ sign.

Hotel wise, for a first timer who theoretically just wants somewhere to shit, shower and shave, any hotel on the Strip is good enough. You don't need to go to Wynn/Bellagio/Encore/Cosmopolitan. Just suck it up and stay in Flamingo/Harrah's/Bally's for the time. You'll barely spend any time in there anyway (unless taking Hannah) so look at spending as little as possible.

Food wise, again just go to medium restaurants and buffets. Joobs and I just went to a buffet once a day and that filled us up for the whole day. Or do what some people do, play @ Venetian in cash and get food comped from Grand Lux.

Drinks - just make sure you're gambling.

Dont see any point on trying to save $$ on hotel when u can share with someone and pay less than £50per night for the best anyway. Vegas is expensive if u want to eat well, drink well and live well, if food/nightclubs arent ur thing then it will be cheap

I agree, personally. I'd fly to LA though, spend a couple of days at the Bicycle/Commerce, then fly to Vegas (and fly direct back obv)

I got flights direct to manc and back for about £1k in the summer, which is completely negligible if you're there for 6 weeks - it's basically £20 p/day onto your overall costs, you don't have to stress with connecting flights/changing at diff hotels etc.

I think it's important if you're there for a decent amount of time not to skimp to much just to try and save a few quid (providing you can afford it) spend a little more and live slighty better whilst you're out there as it's really challenges your temperament does vegas and morale can be seriously challenged at points, so having a nice place to stay and eating nicely is actually quite important imo.

I am a life nit, but unless you want to spend a few days in LA the extra £100 is well worth the convience of flying direct. The flight is long enough as it is, without the ballache of changing flights and the extra hours that takes.

Having said that I would actively encourage to do a bit of travelling while out there, the west coast of the US especially California is a great place to do non poker related stuff for people of all tastes.

Ive flown indirect before and wouldnt ever bother again unless your on a really tight budget.

Would be up for going LA for a few days and driving over tho, play some cash, do touristy stuff, Lakers game etc then hire out some beast of a car and get the tunes blasting as we head to Vegas.

Suprised your still a bit undecided about Vegas! I know how much u like our other trips, none even compare to when the series on and your just bumping into people all the time and have loads of people to do fun stuff with. Also good to meet loads of new people you will see on the UK circuit, making them trips more fun too.

Very much this

If you're going to be playing long hours almost every day (which when you see the games you're going to want to) then you can very easily justify the extra cash for a sweet hotel room.

This summer it seemed pretty stupid at first to stay at the Bellagio for 5 weeks but if you play enough cash at wherever you stay to get the poker rate then it works out alright. If you're gunna be playing cash then you're not really saving by staying at Harrahs/Ballys/Flamingo because its only the Bellagio in walking distance. If you decide you want to play at The Rio/Venetian/Wynn you're gunna do your nuts on taxis anyway and probably end up wishing you just swallowed the extra cost.

Really?

Harrah's is right next door to Venetian and Wynn. Caesars and Bellagio are over the road. Easy walking distance IMO.
