Day Two

So we have 17k at 400/800, average is 35, we need some luck! Table was tough, full of aggro scandis.

  • Dream start, a raise and 3bet in front of me and I squeeze out AK in the blinds, shove, 3bettor calls with 44. Win the flip - 35k.
  • Same guys raise and 3b each other, I find AQ this time, cold 4 shove again. Gets through - 40k.
  • Raise in the hijack, two weak players in the blinds I thought would fold a lot/play bad post, so I wanted to attack them, think it's a pretty bad open cos A4o is pretty shit, but there we go, did it anyway. Both blinds peel and the flop is and I cbet 2800 into about 5500. The big blind calls. Range entirely Kx and pocket pairs I thought. Turn is a , he checks I fire again trying to get him to fold all his pocket pairs. I bet 6.3k into 11.1k, he calls...sticking with the same sort of range, probably Kx and 66-99. The river is the . I'm giving up on a lot of rivers, but this one is perfect. I can easily rep AJ, hearts, AA, KK, QQ, A5s and KQ, KT. I overbet jam 30k into about 23k. He has about 35k, so it's pretty much allin for him. Just don't think he can call with a K or 66-99 and he can never have hearts (I have the ace). Overbets tend to be given a lot of respect as well, people almost always have it when they overbet the river, so I just thought it would work so often. He didn't think for too long before giving it up, so I didn't have to sweat that much! Was exhirlirating though - really fucking loved the adrenaline in that moment! - 55k
  • Open AJ, get 3b, I 4b jam 32bbs effective, he folds - image is REALLY mental now!
  • Win a pot with QQ, took a nonstandard line to induce, worked out nicely, up to 75k. It's going amazing!
  • Lose KJ <AJ vs a shortie, then lose a ghey pot with 99, opening utg get three callers, and have to bet fold 872hh. Really sucky spot, but the guy who raised me was a rock, he defo had a set, TT/JJ or a two overs+fd sort of hand, never ever in good shape so pretty happy that folding was best. 4b folded A4dd vs a guy new to the table, thought I'd get some respect vs him - I'd raised utg+1 and had an ace blocker so thought it was a pretty good spot, he jammed though sigh. Down to 35k.
  • Get coolered for 32k AQ vs AA bvb, down to 3k Sad
  • Spin up my 3k into 20k - loads of fun, almost back in it! Then A2< KJ seals my exit Sad

Was close to the money, but no cigar. Really enjoyed today - feel I got my moneys worth as yesterday didn't really play any 'poker' just folded for 8 hours pretty much. Really feel I played my best, and was really in the zone all day. The big bluff was the highlight, felt like Isildur in the moment lol (confirmed saddo). Sigh@ no flag - austria is pretty niche, but not meant to be.

Gascoigne still in though oioi!!!

Can go skiing tomorrow now though can't wait!!!

Awesome day skiing today Smiley

Felt so good to be back on the slopes after a year or two off and experience the rush again - loved it. Keys and Stato weren't interested so I used Keys' package deal and Gascoigne got one from someone else so we freerolled the whole trip. Ongame really looked after us - transport to and from the hotel, free skis, boots, lift passes - the whole shebang. Very impressed.

The skiing was decent, VERY cold, -20 at the worst! But we were well prepared (shout out to my buddy Stef, who runs the cardroom at Alea, Nottingham - he lent me all his gear for the week so thanks very much to him, do support his cardroom, there's a new schedule out from this month http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=56579.msg1501726;boardseen#new)

We had a couple of hours to kill before the bus back, we somehow managed to stroll into a posh hotel, got totally lost and ended up in the spa! So unfortunate. We had an awesome couple of hours relaxing in the sauna and the steam room, then had a doze on the sunbeds overlooking the mountains - total bliss!

Needed it really, I find tournaments really draining and mentally exhausting - don't enjoy them much to be honest, but they're like crack, can't really stop playing them! Also, been knocking it in recently on cash, not had a winning day for like 2 weeks it feels and coupled with bricking all the comps out here - the poker's not been treating me so good and I find losing mentally tiring too!

Curry tonight to finish off the trip, hopefully the snow back in England won't cause the flight to be cancelled!

Weather messed us about a bit yesterday, delayed for 5 or 6 hours in the airport Sad bit annoying.

Got back at 730pm having left our hotel at 8am, long day.

Just starting to watch Season 1 of Entourage, heard great things about it - looking forward to getting into it.

A couple of weeks on the grind then we're off to Thailand. Need to make some money in that time. Ideally. Stock market's been doing well though so that's all good.

In a bit of a rutt atm, lots of things going through my head, lots to think about.

Surprised to learn that comps at DTD now have a "no deals" policy...very interesting development. Almost all the nightly comps get dealt shorthanded so this will annoy a lot of the local players and staff who have to stay on later dealing/running the comps.

Such a bad decision. I see very few reasons in favour and many against the no deal policy

Think Rob was pissed off coz he paid Frankie £100 to do a stint on the live feed and Mitch all he could eat whilst I'm the booth ( which for the 5 minutes he was learning to use the equipment came to more than £100).
