Skippy!
I'm in a wonderful mood, & I try to avoid argument, but this is not even close.
For starters, "Flying Scotsman & "Mallard" are both LNER locomotives, (the railway equivelant of Argos) whilst King George V is GWR, ("God's Wonderful Railway"), which is more sort of Harrods. Game over, really.
Then we get to hue, & colour. Blue. BLUE?
No self-respecting locomotive should ever be blue. Thomas excepted.
I don't wish that we ruin Alex's lovely thread, but please, do be serious.
And if we are being serious, no, they are not anything like as wonderful, or iconic, as 6000. I see that Loco in exactly the same way that Plenners sees NUFC.
Don't forget Gordon. Nothing wrong with blue there either.

Sounds like sentimentality overruling objectivity there. Can't deny the engineering achievements of both the LNER engines.
Besides, GWR going standard gauge was like Al Fayad buying Harrods. Used to be posh, but now just panders to the masses
.
Doh. Beaten to the Gordon reference.

I've just checked your hendon mob herbie, what's going on?! Not a score since March 2011, nothing 5figures since November 2010?
Surely you can't back track and blame it on variance? After all you preached a year ago when you first started posting!

Then I got to thinking a bit more about it after seeing you won a £2k pot off Nick last night thought I would come and see how you got on by the end of the night. To be sat with 6 mates for a high percentage of the time can only ever end in tears as you just can't all make a living from the game. There simply is not enough Leicester /Donny fish or whales with till like Walster or Neil to provide a decent long term income for you all. Playing big pots with mates of equal ability (I have no idea out of you, Mitch, hicks, Stato, the toms, Simon, pj and the others i dont know h as any edge) means that the money just gets pushed round the table falling into the rake box. Taking it to the extreme only 5% of players are gonna make a long term living from the game which is less than 1 person on two tables in Dtd.
Funny enough I said more or less this to Alex Friday at the club ,IMO they need to do a few road trips now the cash games slowed down a bit at the club

Lol fml over and over again. Started to hit home how well I've run for ten years. I can't blame variance but would put it down to initially suffering some beats and then changing my style of play which meant I played badly IMO . My bankroll becomes my life roll in one year things start to go wrong with business / investments/ guys I stake (lol unbelievable phone just rung and Rick117 just rang to say he won a ukipt last night .. Spooky) and I'm only 6 months off being in Sean's Shoes. But on the flip side I'm only 5 days off being in your shoes

Gordon, ffs, I give up on this thread.
There I was, trying to bring some culture to it.
You'll have to cope without my input now, I'm officially throwing a strop, & sulking. I'll only Post on grown-up diaries in future.

I can't blame my kids ever because when they came along it meant I stopped hanging around casino cardrooms five nights a week but it means I often can only play twice a month due to family commitments. Since my mum died it appears I have adopted my sisters 2 for 12 hours a day also but hey Ho this last 5 years of being a stay at home dad have been the best 5 years of my life. I would not swop that for the world and I am so grateful poker had allowed me to do this.
I do have a leak in my game and that is AJ. Get married to it because this is Alister James (5 in July school councillor and on the anti bullying committee)

But I also have some run good in these two Jake and Toby

Will look for the bluff cover featuring the other jake n Toby

Say there's 6 regs and 2 fish. The fish each have £1k and are probably 80% to lose it. That's £1600 between 6 regs = £266 each night on average. That's fine tyvm.
More commonly, there's 3/4 strong regs, not 6. I think, Jason, you're under the impression that Simon Deadman, Andy Hulme, Nick Hicks, Neil Giblin play those cash games every day. They don't. Simon almost never plays anything higher than 50/1, Andy grinds online 95% of nights, Nick and Neil both play online most of the time too, and probably come in once a week on average.
The only person I play with pretty much every day is Mitch, and in the last month, Peejay. Sean most of the time too. Mitch is basically my only long-term competitor in the games and although he's very good
at flopping sets
, there's enough liquidity in the games for the both of us. The proof is in the pudding... I see PJ as a long term fixture now too, but no-one else really.
Tikay, I will be sure to go to the Railway museum, I'll get a photo to prove it!
Before I became a regular at DTD, I was playing at Gala notts most of the time. I loved playing there, although I occasionly got spat on which was rather unpleasant, the games were easy. After my retirement from Gala, my win rate started to plummet from playing in these games. Granted I didn't run great and was making the transition into stepping up stakes so perhaps wasn't playing optimally but I inevitably started to doubt my abilitys and questioned my place as a regular in these games. I just became so accustomed to bet bet bet whenever I made a strong holding and rarely bluffing but all of a sudden I found myself having to balance and use my brain. Having to think in a poker game, terrible right?
The games just seemed terrible and not good value to me at first because I expected everything to come easy. So I worked hard on my game and managed to string a couple of result together and realised that although these games regularly featured players who had an 'edge' on me I could still be a consisted winner. I'm not gonna deny that the regs make it easy for one another when competing for pots but there are definetly enough 'decent spots' on the table to make a living. As long as we keep our egos out of the way, I.e. avoid the 6bet bluff vs one another, then the DTD games are deffinetly strong enough for the regs to make a consistent living. As long as the fish don't go broke
