Any chance we can bin the "Team Eureka" nonsense? Cant think of a single "team" in poker that hasnt made themselves look silly by trying to be a group/team whatever u want to call it. We can look back in poker history we had "The Crew" "Team Total Poker (my own stupid attempt years ago at this rubbish) " "The Hitsquad" and the forums favourite "The Firm"
Basically its just a joke, waste of time and reflects badly on those involved- and starts collusion debates when they woudnt be needed otherwise
All imo of course.
The Firm was totally different to "Team Eureka" just FYI everybody.

Ronaldo is one ofy favourite characters in that card room. Thinking about it I ain't seen him the last couple of times. Is he ok.
Dunno if srs but, banned/self-banned from DTD.
oh shit. No I am serious. I think he is a great guy, even tho he loses his temper pretty quick. Had a few decent chats with him about scumbags and him lending money to them. Supposed to have a pizza place with a decent reputation. He may not be every bodies cup of tea but then again neither am I
The pizza place is good I go there from time to time.
yeah I will pop in and see him sometime. Not sure that the popcorn chucked got enough love tho.
Good luck In Riga to everyone. Did Ian end up going?
pretty sure banned after his last blowup...
Think he got 'slowrolled' in a really strange spot.
Think he hero'd someone down with like K2 on Q9254 or something... and the guy was like "you're good.."
Then saw his Ronaldo's hand and pulled his own back.. exposing J4o or something...
He went mental... and Sinclair (or other bouncer) quickly sorted it out.

Ronaldo is a great guy can be a little fiery/passionate at times which is a massive shame because he is an absolute pleasure to share a table with.
And can confirm Pizza Italia is very good.

This is the first time I’m posting so with the risk of being lynched I will post some of my observations.
I’m not a regular cash game player but I do play the tournaments regularly at dtd and have been for the last two years. There are a few reasons why I hardly ever play cash at dtd mostly to do with my bankroll and the time the games get going. But I witnessed something the other day at dtd that has made me never want to play cash poker there again. I’ll leave out names.
There was a PLO game going with a few regs and a few other recreational players Rob Yong was playing on the table too. Not sure what happened in the hand but two players were all in and around 2k in the middle and I was told that one of the players got extremely lucky, instead of the rest of the table staying quiet respecting the fact that someone just lost a lot of money another player who wasn’t in the hand gets up and celebrates. The player that won the pot then says “I enjoyed that it’s personal” a short exchange of words ensues I stand around because it looks like it’s getting heated and it’s not everyday you’ll see an ex boxer fight someone who looks like an ex con in a poker club. The players that celebrated were obviously friends and I have seen them regging the big games at dtd and the other player was obviously not friends with them got up and left. I’m not sure why this behavior was allowed and why none of the staff said anything at all, I was also surprised that Rob Yong didn’t even pipe in and tell the players to show some respect.
So all this stuff about the regs not being cliquey and showing respect to other players goes out of the window for me. Had this been the other way around and it was the recreational player that had won the pot and one of his friends got up and celebrated in that way the card room manager would have been called over. Now imagine that you were sitting on the Black Jack table and lost a couple of grand and the pit boss immediately celebrated, would you ever go back to that casino? Instead winning or losing at a casino the punter is always shown respect and in some cases gets free stuff just to keep them coming back.
I’m in the states so I will reply when I get a chance

Don't know if it is appropriate to mention this in Alex's diary (if it is bad form then I will delete this post)... but I just started my own thread, designed to house my long-winded ramblings. Rather than writing them in this diary, I have written my further thoughts on the subject of the DTD games and being a poker professional in this new thread.

Listen to me bigdick/danre, i dont look like an EX CON i am an ex con. Regarding the hand i was 100% out of order, you was taking that much notice that you didnt see me apologise more than once, shake the mans hand, then apologise to rob for behaving like that in the club. Ive played in dtd a long time and never acted like that before. If you have anything else to say about the matter please do not hide behind your laptop, come and see me in person. I will be in wednesday night.

Latvia day one!
Really like this place! Something really cool about this city, dunno what it is - I like the Russian/European blend - the buildings, the wide cobbled roads, the beer, the language, the cool wintery fresh air and the women oh my god!
Comedy start, there's two hotels by the same name - we explain to the taxi driver which one we'd like to go to - obv he still takes us to the wrong one so we look like mugs trying to check in to a hotel we don't have a reservation for. So we have to walk to the correct hotel, which didnt really bother me but the taxi driver had also managed to break PJs wheeley bag so PJ has to switch between carrying it in his hands, or bending down to wheel it on the ground which was pretty funny for the rest of us.
Especially funny when it turned out that poor PJ had booked the wrong hotel so got turned away at our one and had to walk back to the original one!
Poor Pauly J has been getting a hard time recently - he's the baby of the group - only 20, and this is his first trip away from home that his mum hasn't packed his bag for!
Anyway we had to sleep for some of the day to recover from the ridic early flight, then went out the check out the casino, seemed pretty small and certainly not well signposted - in fact it was so unobvious where it was we were unknowingly stood outside it asking for directions to it!
We didn't play, we found a steakhouse that looked and was lovely, but it was totally empty strangely. We had a great laugh over dinner anyway, and it was very tasty. I lost the flip sigh which was 245 euros 6ways - pretty steep for Latvia I thought! Pretty golden at flips in Vegas - barely paid for a thing, getting punished now though - lost like 6/9 of the subsequent drinks rounds too
Played some hilarious drinking games in some bar drinking "apple pie" shots (gross), "baby guinness" shots (lovely) and "red headed slut" shots (fun to order).
The night blurred away after those, remember hilarity occurring all night but not any details...
MIGHT play poker tonight - there's a turbo 165 sat into the main on which sounds just about bearable if its turbo enough!

One very quick point i will make which is more an observation by me than any sort of constructive point but...
One thing i have noticed occassionally is when quite keen slightly less experienced players come to cash tables like those at DTD i think a lot are slighhtttly put off playing because the atmosphere is a LOT more casual than they might be used to which appears odd when more money is at stake. i am 100% guilty of not being fully aware of this.
a good example of this at the big 500 i was playing a cash game and a guy sat down clearly not very experienced with live cash games. there was a hand between me and a guy iv k own for a while on the river the pot was £1600 and he had £65 left. i elected on the end just to table my hand and save him the last bit, i was winning he was losing etc pretty stnd. combined with the fact me and linton were fucking about a bit lead him to accuse me of collusion. i was a little offended but can actually see his point and it made me wonder how many players like hi have felt this way and not played again as a result.
And this after saying 'fun friendly enviroments' are what the game needs. i guess this needs to be very subtle, flexible and monitored all the time by the games regs.
Its so easy when youre so used to playing poker with people you know to remember to consider other peoples perceptions of your behavior. i know 100% im guilty of this but thats a result of mostly playing with people i actually really like.
trigg recently had a similar experience to this and someone not even in the hand got it declared dead.
Dtd is a million times to better to play poker at and I am really suprised how little aggro you find there. I can only think of a handful of times there has been any sort of kick off and if it ain't been me involved its always been Ronaldo. Gotta say that after Frankie, Ronaldo is one ofy favourite characters in that card room. Thinking about it I ain't seen him the last couple of times. Is he ok.
Been a playing In Derbys 2/2 DC recently
