Anyway, I'd better scarper, sidetracking Alex's Diary won't do.
I'm just trying to help him fend off all the hits Greeky's Diary is getting. Be a shame to see Posh Alex drop down the View Ratings.

do you ever speak to Richard Herbert Marky? He started playing some more live stuff a couple of years back and ran into him a couple of times. He has a cracking sense of humour and I sent a couple of lads his way who were at uni but wanted to chase the dream.
I know Rich/Strummer very well, came down to Dorchester for the £30 rebuy my old man had at his club back almost 10 years ago now!!
Strummer used to come down along with Skalie, Sealey and a few others from up north. I had mates that flew over from Sweden and Tenerife for it too, lot of travellers for a £30 tourney
I still speak to him, although not as much since he left Badbeat andwent back to work. Now he just plays the odd bit himself on the side I think and does some sportsbetting too.
I often clashed with Skalie in the early Ladbrokes days. I didn't know him personally back then, but he was always fairly robust in the chat box.
I stumbled across my old player notes for him the other day. They consist of one comment. "C**T."

IIRC, Bengt Sonnert came 3rd(..?) In the Poker Million the year Helen Chamberlain lost to Tony Jones.
Probably, I don't recall.
He was a cool-looking dude, I know that, & the girls were all over him.

Poker bot/robot mate, pkrbt. Used to play with him and Eric 123 at LHE back in the day before NL took over. Not surprisingly they buzzed up the stakes pretty quickly.

Jeff Burke was a quite extraordinary Online cash-game player.
He was the wrong age to be respected, but jeez, I have met very few people who
really
crushed Online Cash Games, but Jeff was one of them.
Chris Smith has always been a good friend of blonde, as it happens. We had dinner on a few occasions, trying to broker blonde-based deals etc, but they never quite came off. He always said, repeatedly, "if blonde are ever in trouble, come see me & I'll try & sort it".
Richard Herbert? Wowzer. Think the last time I saw him was at the Monte Carlo Millions, in 2005, in which he finished 7th.
That was the day that Paul Jackson & Phil Ivey played that amazing hand.
In the same final were TonyG, (then a Shareholder in blonde) Marc Goodwin, John Juanda, & a Scandie I have not heard of for some years, but he was "The Man" back in the day, Bengt Sonnert. (Sp?).
Yeah, that was just after Badbeat started, they put 6? Players in and managed 2nd, 3rd and 6th. I remember Bengt put a sick beat on Strummer

Bluescouse was the blog you could not wait to be restarted following the breaks. Would love to know what happened to him, hopefully for his sake he never returned to playing. Shame, great read.

He was definitely one of the most consistent and never had a losing year for Badbeat!
Chris is a really great guy, the story behind John T's WSOPE entry was brilliant and typical Chris. He had bought John into a £1k sat for it in London, but due to miscommunication John didn't play.
Chris called him and said something to the effect if 'ill just buy you in, I'm not wasting another 1k when you don't turn up for the tournaments'
He rest is history and I'm sure he was happy with his share of over £500k
I take it you've been to Ricardo's a few times then? When I went for my interview to become a trader back in 2005, Chris came on the phone to tell me to pack a bag. When i asked why, i was told not to ask questions and just do it.
I got to London and took a taxi to the offices No1 Knightsbridge, where his main company Manro-Haydan was based. The interview was quite short, at the end he informed me I had been booked into a hotel over at Lancaster gate and dinner was at 8, great guy and such a character!!
Monte Carlo was used by Chris and John to put the company out there and I suppose that worked out better than expected!
(Apologies for derailing your diary Alex)
