Awww, that sounds lovely! Have a great time. If you haven't been, go to Parc Guell. It's a bit out of the way (a few metro stops from the centre), but it's so lovely. It would make a pretty romantic day trip.

You must go to the Xampanyeria.

As the name (for the Catalan speakers amongst us  ) suggests it's a Champagne (well, Cava) bar with a real Catalan twist.

Pretentious, calm and posh it is not. Great fun, heaving, reasonably priced and authentic it is.

Enjoy mate.

Tried our hardest to find this last night. Got to the street and google maps was telling us it was right in front of us. Couldn't see anything for the life of us.

Ended up having incred tapas and wine in a place close by.

I love this city. Trouble is my sleeping pattern is so fked from the live poker grind I've been on. Pretty hard to snap adjust from bed at 6am, up at 2pm to trying to be a muggle.

Have a good time, Alex. How does Victoria manage to get clearance to go to Barcelona, but not England? Seems strange given the various nationalities that manage to come to the UK.

Love Barcelona - my favourite City alongside Edinburgh.  We tried to find that bar on a trip once too and had no joy.

There is a really cool place in El Born region not too far from Las Ramblas which has beds and cushions instead of seats at each table and serves amazing Mojitos.  Sorry I couldn't give any better info.  It's down some very twisty narrow alleys and also quite hard to find.

Nice restaurants in Placa Reial and just a nice place to sit and watch the world go by.  Sagrada Familia is obviously stunning and well worth a visit and a climb to the top.

Avoid Poble Espanyol - really poor tourist trap desitnation.

Stadium tour at Camp Nou is really good even for girls I think.  I got a great pic of Patrick Kluivert arriving late for the coach to go to an away game.  I shouted 'Patrick your're late' as he got out of his car tucking his shirt in his pants and got him wheeling around and donning shades.

Definietly make sure you give CDLC a visit for dinner, definitely the best restaurant I went to in Barca.

Aside from the downswings, the unsociable hours are the worst thing about being a professional poker.

Playing online is better than live from that respect. I would stop regging a normal MTT schedule at 11pm and often be finished before midnight lol, rarely later than 2.

Whereas live, I play from 9pm till 330 at Dtd and then often move on to gala until 5/6 even 7am. That's when the games are, and the games are good, i enjoy them and I need the hours!

Going straight from that cycle to being on Barcelona trying to wake up early for tours or even waking up before midday at all, is like trying to snap overcome an 8hour jet lag. And although I pride myself on the talent of being able to sleep anywhere, I just can't sleep at night atm.

Today was an absolute disaster. This is our 6th trip together and we've had nothing but good times up until today but I really upset her today. I'd not slept much last night. Probably 5 hours of light on/off sleep. We got up at 11 and spend €26 each on one of those tourist bus passes things where you can see the whole city and hop-on hop-off etc.

I couldn't keep my eyes open, and it was a nightmare, I desparately wanted to, but every 5 seconds literally I was falling asleep. That's no fun for anyone especially not her, and she got really upset and made us go back to the hotel. I slept for a few hours in the afternoon and then we went out for the evening. She was really pissed off though (not with me, just at the situation) and we barely said a word to each other all night. She told me that she spends all her disposable income on our trips every month so to spend a day out of a trip with just 2 full days in like this, really upset her. I felt awful when she told me that.

I feel like this is gonna be the beginning of the end. We've never been "together" or in a relationship, always free to see other people or whatever, but whatever this "thing" is, it's hit a bit of a speedbump.

The most annoying this is, in a lot of cities I wouldn't really care. Vilnius/Riga for example, staying in the hotel all trip was just what I wanted to do! But I love Barca, it's amazing. I really would consider living here. If they had good live cash action with reasonable rake and non smoking Cardroom etc etc, I could see myself living here, learning Spanish, eating tapas all day, yes, very much so...

Gonna look into some serious medication for next time, if I get the chance...

You should pay for her expenses imo.

5 hours is more than enough not to be falling asleep!

Pretty embarrassing to be falling asleep anywhere in public, imo.

Sorry to hear you had such a mare today mate, but unfortunately the meds for that don't come from a doctor... Well, at least not on request so you can stay awakle on days/nights out. Definitely no good for poker either, they'll make you concentrate at first and then you just get edgy/agitated and make really poor decisions...

Not much you can do about it unfortunately, beyond taking a couple days off to sleep before you go on trips and that might settle your bodyclock a little. Definitely don't think you really want to be seeking medical solutions for a problem that is essentially purely a byproduct of your job and can definitely be resolved without medication.

Sounds like you're going to get a peaceful nights sleep anyway with the current mood, so get a good 8 hours and hopefully you'll be set for the rest of the trip. Maybe offer to pay for her flights on the next trip in the morning, that might settle things for the remainder of this one and get you back on good terms?

Probably muggy advice because a Football season goes on longer than my longest relationship Cheesy

If u have little or no sleep at all, yet need to stay awake for the next day, I suggest running a hot, I mean very very hot bath. Soaking in it for about 45 mins to an hour. U will probably fall asleep for about 20 mins of it, but after, u will feel like u have slept for 7 hrs, so will feel fresh again. 1 can of ice cold red bull before u set off and u will be wired up and ready to go.

Wouldn't recommend medication from doctors, prefer going down the herbal route. Agree with not playing for a couple of days before your trip, so your body clock is better, working out in the gym flat out before u go should get u into the right pattern.

Maybe you did not sleep because you was sleeping with someone? I can't sleep when there is someone else in the bed.

Therefore the dog sleeps in the kitchen now
