Just to give you a target in the cooking stakes Alex, whilst playing online tonight:
I'm cooking a roast chicken accompanied by roast potatoes, peas and gravy(from the chicken jus naturellement).
I am only two-tabling though errr make that one.
Ha!
Did a two-outer come strolling along smoking a pipe?

Read this like an overly long book..
Read the first few pages, got an excitement over the fact that its something fun, shipped to the end.. read back a few pages to get the picture now..
Few things are in order, no idea how long ago they are never looked at dates.
1. Well done at the bink.
2. Where do you play? DTD mainly? I live in Birmingham, and know people in DTD but dont drive, I heard the rake there is insane?
2.1 may be easier to answer, i play 1/2 and 5/5 Live..
3. What kind of things did you have to give up when it came to poker pro? I'm grinding online, playing live, having a long term relationship and also a close family, as well as still at university.. I live with my GF also, so its hard when she has to be woken up at 7am all the time.. ITs always good to wander how other people do it.
4. Do you do anything other than poker?
5. How old are you?
6. I play SH online, and only recently started playing Live.. Tips?
7. Maybe we're have to skype for number 6

Thank you

DTD is 90% of my volume yes. The rake is not insane, perhaps slightly higher than other places (1/2 is 5% capped at £10) but you get more than your moneys worth with the quality of the club in every respect
2.1 may be easier to answer, i play 1/2 and 5/5 Live..

I gave up a normal life...I gave up uni/getting a degree and all that goes with that...Hours is the main thing - the best times to play are weekends and evenings, so the hours are very antisocial for maintaining relationships with people in the outside world or "muggles". It's resulted in 95% of my friends being through poker and I've had problems with relationships with people outside of poker because of this
4. Do you do anything other than poker?
Whilst poker is very much the main part of my life I enjoy playing the piano, going out with friends to dinner / cinema / going out etc, used to play football but don't so much now (just watch
) also for the last 6 months have taken 3/4 days off every month to fly to see my Belarussian friend in various countries for a total poker break which has been really good. I play 32 hours poker a week on average
5. How old are you?
24
6. I play SH online, and only recently started playing Live.. Tips?
Patience, concentration, be sociable and enjoy yourself, win/lose with class, discipline, know yourself, don't bluff
7. Maybe we're have to skype for number 6

It's APAT weekend this weekend, which means I'm putting in mega hours at DTD.
Played the "hiroller" at 6pm today, was a £275 buyin
, and got a brilliant table with Thigh, Bedi and Gascoigne. I lost every pot, ended up shoving 7k from MP at 200/400 (so 17.5bbs) with AKs and the sb decided to call with
! I made a flush, he made a full house. Wins. Was pretty funny tbh.
Then had a really long grind on the 1/2, in a pretty fun game. RBC Mike and GHolden were in the game, in fact, I realised at one point that I was facebook friends with everybody at the table, including the dealer - which felt like a first! (for a fullring game anyway). Wasn't that soft, and was really aggro at stages.
There's one guy in the games a lot these days who has been my nemesis for a while. Really annoying! Calls all my bets and raises, and just seems to hit every flop and always screw up situations for me. Ie. I make a good read vs someone and c/raise or 3bet light or whatever, he's always just right there behind me cold calling! Has been getting really annoying, and he whacked Gascoigne, so I told Ian I'd get him back.
And finally at 3.45am after 10 hours of play, I finally got him. Caught him bluffing, which I was super proud of because it's really hard to catch him without the nuts, then found the hand I'd been waiting for. Playing every pot and 3betting half the opens on the table was getting pretty tiring without any premium hands, so it was a relief to finally find Aces, in a spot I'd never get credit. 3bet pre and got 3 big streets from our friend on an easy Q44J7 board, which was a real nice pot to end the night. Was really satisfying session - was +/- £200 for like 10 hours and then heatered right at the end for a nice +900 session.
Need to breakeven or better tomorrow to lock March 2013 as my 2nd best ever month, gonna put in 12hours+ session I think, legooooo.

I drove home to Cambridge after the game last night to spend a few days with my family over Easter, and I think I need the break to catch my breath after last night!
It was one of those high-octane fly by the seat of your pants (ridic phrase btw, what does it even mean?!) sort of games, where you just need to hold / and be able to put in thousands lighter than normal.
For example, the biggest pot I won, I got in £1700 at 1/2/4 with QQ, and held vs what was either 77, 88, 99 or TT. The betting went him open to £20 from the bb on my straddle, I made it £100, he made it £400 and I shoved and he called.
I had won £700 playing £1/1 before this game started, so was feeling great before this pot, and after it I was on cloud nine....
Then I lost it all back
Really sick hand, all started with one loose preflop call for £20...
I'm involved with the might
and see a flop of
and I made the first (or possibly second bad decision of the hand) by not donking the flop, in a spot I definitely should've done. I checked to the preflop raiser (a young guy from scunthorpe who seemed a very very good player - from scunthorpe I know right?), who cbet £50, Berridge peeled and I raised to £210, to bluff out the young guy (who would know I have a massive hand to raise when Berridge has flatted) and to get it in vs Berridge who only had about £1k at this point.
Anyway, unfortunately the young guy flatted and Berridge folded, and we saw a turn.
, pretty interesting card. Have so many outs, and a really strong range, have to continue here - I bet £370 into about £550 and he calls. Getting a bit sweaty now...
River
- really sick card. I make a straight but the bdr flush gets there. Decided to check. He is deep in the tank. I really don't wanna have to call a huge bet here. He cuts out about 6 pinks leaving 4 left on top of his £1k plaque. I'm thinking, that's OK I can call £600 no problem.
Then he slides the plaque in, with 475 on top of it...So the bet was £1475 into about £1300.
I didn't see how I could fold at the time. Now I have no idea why I called. I think the only hand he can have for value is AQss or KQss. My hand looks like a set, but I basically have the same as a set now anyway.
I hate my call now. He knows he's not repping much. I just thought he'd think I couldn't call that bet with a set. I'm folding my whole range on the river if I c/fold a straight there. Urgh I dunno. Thoughts? He was the only player at the table I could consider calling there for £1475. The only person I gave credit for bluffing / turning something into a bluff. Potentially could have QQ as well going for thin value (optimistic).
Also, a tiny part of me was thinking, which I know is dumb, but I'm only human - I'm still winning like £600 if I call and lose, and if I call and win, I'm winning like £5k...That didn't really change my decision much, I would've called anyway probably.
Anyway, he didn't have a hand I expected him to have. He had
...had to double take the board to see what that was...but it was indeed a higher straight...
Was pretty gutting, but to be honest, a really sick part of me loved it - the adrenaline of being in such a big pot, having such a tough decision (my biggest ever river call by some way) and even though I got it "wrong" and lost - I felt pretty happy that being involved in moments like this was my "job", and didn't really feel too bad.
I played a few more hands, then decided I needed to chill for 20 minutes to make sure my head was in the game. It was, I was feeling fine, went back, won £400 more then the game broke and I left winning £900, which is pretty good really. Happy.

Pilots flying without instruments had to judge things like air speed, climb rate, pitch, yaw etc by the changing pressure on the part of their anatomy that was in closest contact with the aircraft.
Hence, "flying by the seat of your pants."

Interesting field to say the least. Play of the night, fake all in vs Mike.
