Who is this mythical Mike character I keep hearing mentioned?
@ Woodsey. It's been many years since we played together. At that time I was building a roll and had no choice but to play extremely tight 'survival poker'. Things have changed - I am still on the tight side of course, but I
have
been known to drop the shoulder once in a while! Why don't you come play some time when I am there? You can bash me up, run me over, and show me how proper poker players do it!

Just messing with you as you well know
Maybe I will sometime, but I'm pretty bored with live poker these days and just can't be arsed sitting there for hours on end, bored shitless, twiddling my thumbs. Now if I could still win whilst getting hammered on a couple of bottles of rose wine like in the old days I'd probably jump at the chance
sadly I'd probably struggle whilst still sober
Is this how you generate your new fish these days btw?
Believe it or not, I'm going to the gym right now instead of player poker on a Friday night

I've only played cash at DTD a couple of times. I usually favour the Broadway for the PLO. On the 2 occasions I did play I did notice, more than once, winning players get up and leave the table to join another 1/1 or 1/2 game. This bothered me for the simple reason that they could only join the next table with a maximum amount of chips, effectively locking up a win and safeguarding against losing their entire stack.
Is this common practice at DTD? At Broadway they operate feeder tables and you can only move to another table with your entire stack. You can also only drop down a table if you have an hour break from the higher game. These are probably the main reasons why I prefer to play PLO at the Broadway.

Some interesting points from both sides ITT.
I agree with most of the points Alex made. Its up to a pretty small amount of people to do 'the right thing' to keep the games running. They arent set rules, but its something the regs should be aware of.
Maybe the answer is to start all the games with a 1 or 2 straddle max so everyone knows how big the game can play and not feel like theyre sat in a different game at 12pm, than they were when it started at 8pm. The problem is, this is usually how games get good. People start tilting, chasing their losses, re-load to cover the guy they have the needle for etc, and maybe this would resrtict this from happening a little. If later on, all the players in the game agreed the straddle cap should be taken off later, that would be ok if everybody agreed, without anyone being pressurised into doing so.
The games longevity is much more important of course, so if this would mean that more people played, and more games ran for longer, then it can only be a good thing. This should stop the players feeling the need to move down because the game has 'became' too big, and then you would probably have reason to be a bit annoyed at somebody whos just dropped down to 50/1 after taking a few buy-ins out of the game.
Re: the seat move thing: There are some people who like it be in X seat, or like you say, want to watch the football etc so in those circumstances its fine. But there have been times when people get a seat in a game and the whole tables moves round one seat. If it happens to me, it just makes me laugh, but when its obvious to get position on a weak or tilting rec player, it can be embarrassing, especially if its very obvious they have seen it happen.
If this has become a major problem (I dont think it is, but ive not been playing the games as much in the last few months), then either have the Vegas style, 'first move' chips, and draw for seats at the start of games, like we always for when starting a £2/£5 game.
Finally, ive not really got a problem with people finishing for the night and going for a drink in the bar with a friend etc. It is a bit funny when a player gives notice at 1am that they have to leave soon with their £1k profit because they have work in the morning, but then sits in the bar getting pissed and basking in the glory til Sinclair chucks them out at closing time. But youve got to just kinda laugh it off, difficult as it is sometimes as you hold the door open for them on the way out of the club after doing your bollox.

You haven't addressed all the moaning and peer pressure that 'Mike' has been accused of multiple times itt. What do you think Mike would say to defend himself about this issue? Hypothetically of course.

You're basically asking why i moaned at you for not following the rules you have now realised that you should have already been adhering to.
What needs explaining, other than your previous naivety?

To be fair, they were moving to try and get a seat on our table as they recognised value when they saw it

Obv I wasn't talking about people leaving tables I've been on.
I'll have you know that I have a 100% winning record at DTD for cash.

No I'm talking about the dropping down stakes when the game gets too big and uncomfortable for somebody.
It's pretty out of line that Mike moans at people and pressures people to play in a game that they're uncomfortable with. Even if it is in his financial interest, there's a line.

How do you enforce this though?
At 1am when Absolutely Massive Little Mike asks, 'Shall we get the straddles on guys?' and 7 players agree and the one guy doesn't want to, as if Mike and his friends tall anon and co are often not gonna give them some shit for it.

That was a good game
Stayed there until
I stacked everyone
the table broke
Yes I enjoyed that game even though you did make that great call against me
