Never been there but heard heard everything from fantastic to dire about Turkey. Seems like a place you can do on pretty much any budget but you get exactly what you pay for.
Why so much hate Guy?

4G Tony although apparently that's not enabled here yet
Thin as a thin thing.
PS - Good decision.
PPs - Don't suppose you watched last night's Show on 865? We discussed, at some length, & several tiumes, the weekend's events at DTD, including your splendid bink. Then they uploaded THAT photo onto the screen. I nearly died......

I had a family holiday to Menorca at about that age and loved it. Lots of pools, lots of sun and lots of ice cream and you can't go far wrong imo.

Not too bothered about nightlife. Mainly want a pool, a beach, some places to go/activities for kids. Decent restaurants etc. Don't mind it being touristy

Lets just say i dont like it!
I agree it was a little sharp, and I could of added some more info as to where I think you should go.
I think what you (George) need to decide is what you want from a holiday. Many European (beach-type) destinations cater well for the british. This, of course, is both a good and a bad thing depending upon what you are looking for.
I personally cant stand chav fest beach holidays, with bacon and egg for breakfast everywhere, and chips and beans for tea. Therefore I would avoid those types of resorts (I am going to throw Benidorm out there - I am stereotyping as I have never been, but I have been to enough bad places as a child to make a fair assessment as to what it is like).
That said Im not a "France" type person for the polar opposite reasons of the above.
I have no idea of the cost of family holidays, but I would look at Florida (Disney etc). It wont be cheap but is def a trip of a life time for the kids at their age. Im sure as a parent you will get a kick out of them having fun as much as you needing your own R&R time. You could do a week in Orlando and a week by the coast (Tampa).
There a loads of good all inclusive holidays nowadays, given the size of your clan this could be a great option. I would always choose the best possible resort for my budget all inclusive, but they can be great.
I would do it this way:
Set budget
Decide on type of holiday (beach/activity/city/sightseeing/culture whatever)
If its just beach/chill out, holiday resort, I would go for the best deal I could find in a reasonable place (I dont mean cheapest)
obv if its something else it automatically narrows your choices for you

So the family have all had a treat includIng me and Shell with his n hers iPads. We are now looking at booking a holiday. Somewhere in Europe. Kids ages are 14,14.7 and 3. Any suggestions?
Turkey is a very child friendly country. With it being a relatively new holiday destination the hotels are generally new built and most have water slides (almost theme park like)
The food is always fresh and healthy, a great climate + there are a lot of good deals avaliable(loads of fake goods on sale at a cheap prices ) . Although a muslim country you wouldnt know it as a typical sterotype as all the locals are very helpful and friendly.
Heres a link to the place I went with the kids through Thomas Cook..Its bang on the beach
http://www.thomascook.com/destinations/turkey/antalya/side/paloma-oceana-resort/
Just to add balance, I wouldnt go to Turkey if you paid me

Turkey is great as long as you don't scrimp on the hotel, so read reviews first and definitely go 5* (4+ at worst IMO) Been to Marmaris 3 times and still think it's a decent place to go overall.
When going out of season, Cape Verde was good to get weather in Feb or late in the year without time difference, but nothing much to do outside all-inclusive hotel.

Just for clarity my chav fest description was not aimed at turkey - more bad spanish type resorts

We've been Florida around 5 years ago. Would love to go back but not atm. Wanna go somewhere a little more local so Europe it is.
Just asking for general advice really cos I know a lot of you jet set although understand it's mainly for nightlife/piss up
