Well this was a surprise, typical bloke when it comes to details though!!!
There's actually 5yrs difference, an important fact imo!!
Though George may have felt he was 21 he was 24 & we had been together a good few years when the “I think I'm pregnant” conv happened ....... I'm delightful when pregnant, regardless of what he says!!! :p
Re mixed relationships, my parents welcomed George with open arms, he has a special place in their hearts (you all know him, how could they not?!) Besides I'm their baby & they can see we are very much in love, that's enough for them. very importantly Esme & Kieran adored him too. However I fully understood Georges mum un dads reservations, I think we would have them too if any of ours came home with this tale to tell,though maybe not for the same reasons. A partner with a ready made family ..... Not ideal!!

Hello Mrs Bedi!  It always surprises me the reaction some families have, one of my best friends has been seeing a girl for a good 2-3 years but she still cant be mentioned in front of his parents because he'd be disowned because she's not Gujarati. It's incredible how strongly they feel and how instant and severe their reaction would be. Very hard for white people to understand. More stories pls! |

My then 26yr old daughter seperated from her husband (and father of her three children) 2 years ago and since then has become attached to a lad who was 18 at the time. He loves the three children and has been far more involved with them than their biiological father ever was.
The children's acceptance of this new father-figure was crucial in The Boy (as daughter calls him) being accepted by us all.
The only downside was that he reckoned he was a Gooner... we've knocked that out of him now though and his main proclaimed loyalties are to his hometown team, Wolves.

georgy porgy, what's the reasoning behind indian families not liking interracial relationships? from my experience they seem to be against them much more than anyone else though that could of course just be down to sample size
TBh I think it's more cultural than religious. Religion comes into it but it's more about what other families might think. Bringing shame to the family etc- spose I did this with some style. Very similar for the Gypsy community George. So difficult for "Outsiders" to be accepted. Likewise for the vast majority of the Jewish community. |

So I visit my parents a couple of days later- my dad is out. My mum is beaming. My brother happy but Im on edge knowing that my news could tip the balance again. My mum isnt stupid she senses something. A tear trickles down my face. This should be happy time. Im about to tell my mum shes going to be a grandmother.
The words trickle out- quietly "Shelleys pregnant" My mum hears it. My brother hears it. They both understand what this probably means. I get up to leave. My brother is upset- he says he wont let this happen again. I walk back to Shelleys. I get the call Ive been expecting. My Dad doesnt want to see me. He has no son as far as he is concerned. Im numb. The family Id just got back had gone once again.
