Fantastic listening to this. I got the book and going to read pre vegas.

Really nice listening and everything you say I do exactly the same. Like every single word so similar.

Jared gave some great advice, but I think you were the real star of the session mate. Funny, honest, really opened your heart out and I think a lot of people will benefit from listening to the video because what you said will be so familiar to them.

Great listen so far, its like he is speaking to me just through Sayid from Lost.

Now time for a decent bink to get me back on the same level.

Good work.

This is an amazing listen (does the last part follow?)

It kind makes me want to give up the game! Im not sure if that is the right emotion! I dont mean completely, but I mean not trying so seriously anymore!

Sigh!

Funny you say that, working with Jared had this effect on me. I'd say I had similar tilt issues to George and Jared cured them for me, but he also made me question what I really wanted out of life and I realised that playing poker wasn't as big a priority for me as I thought.

Now this could have been Jared awakening me up to my true goals in life OR it could have been he woke me up to the harsh realities of variance. I'm not sure, but the net effect has been tremendously positive in my life overall (I've lost weight, I read more, I see my friends and family more, my work life has improved, I have other hobbies and interests outside of poker, and I enjoy playing much more when I do play).

It could also be that the doing the book with him just burned me out a bit. I know for one I am happier and I guess thats the important thing.

Barry thanks for your kind words. It has opened my eyes and I will be sitting down with the family to set our goals not just mine.

However I can say that my desire to succeed in poker still burns bright- I just have to have more realistic goals. Have crossed getting the triple crown by the end of the year and extended it to mid March 2012

I hope people benefit from listening to what Jared had to say and also the honesty I put into the session. I forgot it was being recorded and knew that I'd get the best out of the session if I was honest with myself.

I think I might need you to book me a session with your shrink after tonight's exit...

Going to try and update this a little more often but keep poker related stuff to a minimum. It's boring anyway

Rio's birth.

So we start at wicksteed park. Me, Shelley and the twins (we never call them that) go there to celebrate my birthday on the 5th August. Shelley is heavily pregnant and we have a great time. Esme and Kieran couldn't be more different when it comes to rides. She is a daredevil who would probs go on anything whereas he closes his eyes on the merry go round.

Anyway, 3 days later I'm buzzing. Its the first game of pre season. Before being a fat over eating poker playing bastard I used to play footie for two teams on Saturday's and Sunday's on the left wing. I was like Ryan Giggs with no first touch and tackling skill of Paul Scholes. I'm fast asleep- look over at the clock. It's 8.30am iirc and I smile just thinking about playing. It's only then that I notice Shelley walk in

"I think it's started"

"What has?"

"Errrr the labour?"

"U sure? It can't do. I have footie today."

"Must have been that walk- let's go to the hospital"

"Doesn't labour take a while? Might get to play still"

I get the look. Women are so unreasonable. I think the kids must have been at their dad's or we got Shelley's mum to come round. Really can't remember.... anyway we get into the car and make the journey to the hospital.....

So I drag myself out of bed and get dressed. the whinger in me thinks "FML, first day of pre season and she has to have the baby" (this is actually a lie as this was pre poker so I didn't know the term FML- in fact the term FML probably hadn't manifested itself, I probably didn't even say sick back then. Wow- I never used to say sick. Sick. I digress)

So I get dressed and we drive down the hospital. I can't remember for the life of me what we did with the other two. I think they were either at their Dad's or we dropped them off at Shelley's parents. I drove bleary eyed to the hospital and they checked Shelley in. For anyone who has never have kids- everything takes so bloody long. I mean you have to wait 9 months for the baby and believe me that last month is THE longest month of your life. That last month is longer than the previous 600 months of your life. It just drags.

So when the day finally comes you think- yes it's here! My baby is going to be born. But that takes fkin ages too. So we're sat in the hospital. Shelley is nowhere near giving birth and all I can think about is "I wonder if I can make the game" Obviously I do not utter this at all. Shelley is regulating her breathing- gas and air on standby.

Fast forward almost SEVEN hours. And still no baby. In fact we're not close to a baby. Rio being the awkward bugger that he is has decided he's not going to come out easily. The nurses say his head isn't where it should be and it could be sometime.

4.45pm.

Possibly the most traumatic 15 minutes in my life.
