So here we go again. Another tourney report for a UKIPT. I am a serial casher. Whoop de fucking doo!

In all seriousness I am not taking these runs for granted. To keep cashing in these 600+ fields defy variance and I know it's gonna sooner or later catch up with me and bite me on the bum which is why when I fall short of the real money each time it hurts more and more. I'm gonna try and type up as much as I can while the hands are fresh because otherwise I'll never bloody do it.

Brighton. Lovely place. Again the plan is to drive up Friday morning for a couple of nights. I pick up Dan (Ward) from Market Harborough at 8am and set off. Despite only getting a few hours sleep after watching Harry Potter with Esme and Kieran (it is awesome, going with Rio to watch it again tomorrow) I feel surprisingly fresh. It's my turn to be designated driver and for some reason I just don't like driving long distance. I mean Brighton is only 3 hours away but I consider that 2 hrs and 30 mins too long for me. Maybe it's because I've always slept long journeys. Any type of travel and I'm asleep within 5 mins and up 5 mins before we get there. It's an uncanny talent I have.

We arrive at the hotel around 11.30am and we see if we can get an early check in. Unfort it's not possible at present but ask us to come back a little later and they'd see what they can do. Parked the car outside which is 4.70 a day. Quite cheap for Brighton I think so we're pretty pleased with ourselves. Head for brekkie on the sea front. It was a beautiful, hot. Sun shining, sky blue, sea gleaming. This is the life.

Head back to hotel who allow to check in shortly after 1. Quick shower and we walk up the seafront again. The venue is just a 10 min walk up. We arrive just after two with tourney in full swing. I sit down at my first table which looked fairly mixed.

Seat 1: Tightish guy but seemed to know what he was doing
Seat 2: cockney- hilar bad and didn't mind saying what he thought in pots. More on him later
Seat 3: Again tight but very loose with 20 bigs or less
Seat 4: Oldish guy- very bad. Serial peeler
Seat 5: Chris Dowling. Never played with him before but has had some pretty impressive results on this tour. Very good
Seat 6: David Rudling Smith- Rudders's son. Has a good future in the game if he can learn some live rules Wink
Seat 7: Me
Seat 8: Will Fry. Haven't played with Will much but I know he's decent.
Seat 9: Spewy guy who peel/played too many hands
Seat 10: Tightish guy but listening to him at the table he knew what he was doing.

Table played pretty loose mainly due to seat 2 who wanted to play every hand and try bluffing every pot. Him and seat 9 got into a pot where Seat 2 c/raised turn multi way on an   board and got one caller in seat 9. He then bet 2/3 pot on a   river and was called pretty quickly by seat 9 who turned over Jacks to scoop. Seat 2 did not look amused, waited a full 5 mins before then saying to seat 9 in the thickest accent ever "So Wat did you put me on in that hand then to call with Jacks?" Everyone smiled. Was a true live tournament moment.

I was keeping out of the shenanigans. It was going crazy. Will Fry limped as did seat 9. Cockney makes it 225 at 25/50. Chris dowling calls. Back to will who now makes it 1650. I'm 99% confident Will doesn't have anything here and when everyone folds sure enough he shows the 63 off suit.

I'm on around 12k having seen a few flops but not really connecting. One hand I peel an utg raise from Chris with 108ss. Cockney calls as does BB. Board is 972 rainbow. Checked to me I bet. Cockney calls. Turn is a 6. Weeeeeeeee. I bet again knowing Cockney can't resist. River is a 10. Bollox. Least I can polarize my range here (or basically turn my hand face up to anyone who has a clue) I bet full pot and he snaps. I'm pretty annoyed when he turns over Q8. I look at the flop again and shake my head slightly "I was floating you on the flop" he says. I just laugh and shake me head.

Cockney opens mp and c/off calls. I peel KQdd and board comes   three clubs. Cockney bets and I call.   and he bets again. I call again. River is   and I check and he now fires 2k. It's pretty much a sigh call for me cos I don't think I can ever fold this hand to him. Having said that it's pretty likely he has it this time and sure enough he has the Ace King. I slump back a bit and look at my 8k stack at 100/200. The grind is on....

So I blind down a little at 100/200 and call one bet with 88 and c/fold flop. Start of the hand I have 6.5k. Will has busted and been replaced by a friendly Northern Irishman who is chipped up. Chris raises utg to 500 and I look down at dem aces. I decide to peel to try and get some action. I don't mind going multi way at this stage and 3 betting his utg raise with my raise looks ridic strong. Hopefully I'll get a squeeze behind too.

Irishman makes it 1500. Perfect. Folds to Chris who calls. Even more perfect. I jam after a few seconds and Irishman re raises. He has AK and is drawing dead on turn. This is how I do this. I cooler people! Back up to starting stack. I open AQ utg an orbit later. Seat 1 3 bets me to 1650. This is pretty tough spot and I'd be happy to fold but I felt like I picked up on something and 4 bet to 3600. I know I'll get slapped by I kinda did this without a plan. I don't do it often but when he folded a puffed out my cheeks a little. Had he 5 bet jammed I'd have had 12k left and might have folded. Yeh I know! 4 bet folding AQ. That's like so bad. Turn hand into bluff. You're an idiot blah blah blah. Well FU. It's AQ. AQ can die imo. Should just open muck it.

Few hands later I'm in cut off and open QQ. irishman 3 bets me from button. I 4 bet yet again and he jams. I call and he has JJ. Cooler people. This is how we do it! Q on the turn and he's dead again. No sweats either! Who says it's never easy? I'm now up to 40k and flying. I chip up to 65k with a variety of hands. Hitting flops, turns and rivers hard and also winning a ton of pots with no showdown. Then comes the huge and inevitable spew.....

chris dowling is a great player and a family man like us. played for 2 days with him in ireland and managed to get him to 3 barrell a jack high flop with 10 10 (4 handed) to give me half the chips in play on the final table. he kept saying "you aint got number 1 son Alister James have you" i kept promising him i did not. he was devestated that i showed up with Toby Jason (10 j) number 2 two son. i snapped his shove and he insta mucked and stormed off but had shown the guy next to him.

I say spew but I did have two black kings. Obviously it would be too much to ask to chip up 100k that easily? I have to ride the Bedi rollercoaster and it truth, I wouldn't have it any other way. TBF I rode the blackpool big one in this pot and it's nobody's fault but my own.

I have shown a tendency to open a variety of hands so when I get kings or a big pair I'm usually playing a big pot with them. It's just inevitable with my style of play and image. Having said that I am when i open to 650 at 150/300/25 and get 3 bet to 2400 by the big blind who is playing 50k (new to the table, fairly stationy. Limps weak. Opens/3 bets big hands) I decide to pot control and peel in position. I'm not too happy getting it in pre. Having said all tho wise words I play the hand like a fucking idiot who doesn't know what a pot is never mind pot control. The board comes down 863 and he checks. Now when he 3 bets I thought he had a fairly tight range inc. AK, KK, QQ and possibly JJ. So when he checks my brain insta thinks "I have the best hand here a ton of the time" Cos people NEVER 3 bet aces and check flop. All the money finds its way in on the turn and yes, ofc he has aces. When the smoke clears I am left 12k and am mentally kicking myself in the bollox. WP George. Couldn't just check back that flop and get value on later streets from QQ or even AK could you? U fucking moron.

However, in spots like these this is where Jared's talks and his book (sorry Barry) have really helped me. It is amazing how just one hour in my life has improved both my game and outlook on life. Whereas 4 weeks ago I would be ignoring the fact I played the hand badly, the predominant thought in my head would be "He has aces. OFC he fucking does. Why wouldn't he? I have kings so he obv has aces. What's the point? I run bad anyway. Let's just donk these chips off and fuck off back to the hotel"

I smile to myself thinking of what my reaction would have been like. The posts I would have put on facebook/twitter/blonde about how bad I run. Shake it off George. 12k is HUGE in this event. I go on dinner break with Dan has chipped up to 47k. Pretty standard. When I come back I'm going to grind hard and now give up on this thing without some fight

So I go back with the plan to grind my 30bb stack. There's more than enough time yet. I abso detest grinding. I know some people live off it but I fucking hate it. And usually to compound things I get so many hands that I'd play had I still got the 65k. Like a slow torture by the poker Gods. Hands like  three diamonds or and  I hate mucking those hands more than any shitty AJ, JJ and 99.

Chris Dowling who is down to 11k having tried to bluff the same guy I donated to opens button to 900 at 200/400/50. I look down at  . In terms of Chris's range, I know he isn't superwide and probably not on the naked steal due to his stack and also due to Rudders jnr stack of around 80k. However I still know he's wide enough for this hand to be good a proportion of the time. I have a really awkward stack and mull over my options. I probably pick the worst one in fairness and call. Maybe it's fold>shove>call. Thoughts?

The board comes down J93 and I check. He checks back. I'm really unsure what to put him on at this stage when he checks back but I don't really care when the turn is a 9. I now lead for 1k and he flats now. I'm really confused now but think he had maybe K10, KQ, and some mid pairs. When the board pairs the K I decide to check. I really felt that even though I had a king, there's a strong possibility he has one too. Plus if he does have mid pairs it's going to be tough to get value from him anyway and maybe he'll decide to get me off a jack by turning his hand into a bluff. He pots it for 4.5k and I jam. He calls off with Q10. Bit of a sick cooler but really did not think he had Q10 due to his check on the flop. I have 24k!!!

I'm still not going to play too many pots. Rudling jnr is running the show and I'm happy to let him think he is. I'm just letting him. At this stage I've decided I'm going to wait for a hand to 3 bet him and let him level himself. MWAHAHAHAH. Like the riddler in batman he's going to be so confused he's going to spazz with A10 when we finally get it in. poor lad. Has no idea what I have in store for him.

Unfort I have no idea what seat 9 had in store for me. Rudling opens at 200/400/50 from utg+1 to 900 and I look down at QQ. HAHAHAHAH. Thanks for the double up buddy. I 3 bet to 2200 smiling inside and getting that warm fuzzy feeling (no not that one) when you know a plan is about to come together. Unfort seat 9 who had sat there for about 18 levels and not played a hand cold 4 bets to 5650. It snap folds round to me and I feel like I can't breathe. FFS. How can I fold QQ with this stack. I'm George2loose. are you fucking crazy? I don't think I've folded 66 in my life to an 8 bet let alone queens in this spot. I tank for an age. I know his range his tight. I go through an irrational though process "He doesn't know that you know that you're waiting for a hand therefore he has 82 off" or "this is a really good spot to 3 bet for him cos Junior has a big stack, I know he's opening wide for a big stack and he knows I know that therefore if he knows that he can cold 4" or "He has been folding for 19 levels to set up this very play, he 74 suited. SHOVE!"

Eventually I muck. I need to lie down. WTF is this about. Two hands later I open 825 with AQ utg. Junior is gobbing off about how much I love to raise utg. Immediately Irishman makes it 2700. Back round to me and I now have roughly 19k left. I look at the clock in 6 mins I will be back to 30 bigs. I tank tank fold and he shows aces. I'm PHIL HELLMUTH. I can dodge bullets baby! I proclaim how half the room would have went bust with that hand and open limp the next 7 hands in honour of my hero.

I'm in the big blind next hand and gu who stole all my chips opens, button flats and I look down at  . Perfect squeeze spot. I call and check fold the  . Again not something I do but as Colin Young would, I went with my gut. Really felt like someone was trying to bust me. I grind like a trooper for 300/600/50 and meet up with Dan at the break. He has spun down to 15k too having lost with a set against a straight draw. Time to spin up those 20 bigs!

The most honest reports on here.

Great stuff George, and congrats on another cash (which is no mean feat in a field of this size). You'll have to teach Herbie how to do it.
