Even better Tony. Was going to wait for the official press release. I am the newest member of Team Eureka

Well I don't quite know what that means, but I gather by all the "congrats" it is a good thing, so I'm very pleased indeed.

Remember what I said, only a few posts before....

Whatever you decide, you are a good guy, & you'll be just fine, karma rarely fails.

It is as unpredictable as the beautifully mysterious swings & swongs of variance, but karma is truly a thing of beauty, & I live my whole life by it.

As I'm probably the only one who does not know what becoming a member of Team Eureka means, care to explain?

Lol @ you editing out the word "vagarious", more Prose from a Poshboy material, that...

Close, but no cigar - I edited out the word, or intended word, "vagaries", not "vagarious". I had intended to use it, but it did not seem to quite scan, or read, in the way I had intended, so I went back & changed it, as I so often do.

I try very hard (when not suffering from fatigue, but I'm well rested today, so all zingy & zesty), to write decent, well-presented, Posts, with a little care & thought behind them, yours seem to come out that way naturally, but to peeps like Tom & I, we really have to huff & puff to write well. Rather surprising then that in my case I write so lumberingly & poorly, but it's the trying that matters.  And alll my friends & detractors agree that I am trying.

Well I think it's a brilliant word, perhaps vagarious would've fitted better?!

Yes, extremely surprising scenes yesterday, I was railing avidly. The Cos that you knew so well, but was unknown to me, gave us a flash of his former being and Jason the badboy-turned-lollipop lady surprising us all once again...

In the airport now by the way, off to use my Tikay golden money Smiley

I wasn't even close...

Is it considered a bit fraudulent to spell check words/ check definitions before posting? I definitely do it to avoid looking stupid. And by avoid, I mean, reduce the chances of.

I even looked up lollipop lady to make sure it wasn't "lollypop"!

Not at all, quite the opposite.

Tom always does, I do when I'm not rushing too much, many others do, I'm sure.

I have no problems fessing up that I had to check, or did not know, that's coolio, but using an incorrect word, or spelling a "new" word incorrectly, is the ultimate sin. Well not ultimate, but you know what I mean. Don't want anyone tacking the piss, do we?

Absolutely not.

I should of called.

Please, these are the worst, let's ban these types.

Sigh at that reminder, "should of called" does my head in! It's the written equivelant of a baseball cap worn backwards.

I almost pulled you up this morning, but my nerve failed me.

You wrote "Him and James.....". That sounds SO wrong.

Him and James?

Surely you cannot construct a sentence beginning like what you did there?

Me too, I always have my Chambers' dictionary at hand as I hate it when I make spelling mistakes.

Ditch the comma.

Try to avoid starting sentences with a conjunction.

Overall 7/10, must try harder.

I shouldn't really have ended that sentance with 'of' either, that should never be done, but I couldn't find a way around it...

I'm off to catch my plane before someone else jumps on me...

Oh wait, just seen Tikay's posted again, uh oh...

I doubt I have ever noticed a Ralphy-Boy Post that contained a typo or spelling error, & you clearly take just that little bit of extra effort to present them "just so". People are more inclined to read a well-presented Post, imo. And surely, we only Post because we want others to read them?

Is your beloved Chambers Dictionary an Arsene or Thierry themed version? Jeeves likes to know these things.

3 ellipses in 3 sentences is also fairly ugly...

This is becoming a sickness, right, official signing off now. Have a good day all.

All this grammar and spelling talk kind of irks me, especially since it seems to crop up all the time nowadays.

Poker draws people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Several people who I'm sure can have very positive impacts on the forum may be dissuaded from posting on it because they can't construct a post like you or Alex and they seem to be constantly reminded of that fact. Not everyone was/is fortunate enough to have a good education - we shouldn't dissuade them by pointing out every error or make them feel inadequate by showing them a superior way of posting. This is a poker forum, not an English subscription fee training site.

It does not "crop up all the time", & I don't think it is "constant" at all, & I don't think we should be too shy or inhibited to discuss it. And not all of us had a good education, or in some cases, ANY (conventional) education, you may be assured.

It's all light-hearted, & a perfectly normal thing to discuss, in my personal opinion. I don't expect everyone, or even many, to agree, but that's no reason not to say it, is it?

A question was asked, in good spirit, & I answered it, likewise, & it developed from there, just a regular convo in my opinion.

Anyway, get back to your own Diary, & tell us some tales of Thai derring-do.

Is 'tacking' a new poker term or was everyone else too busy looking for ellipses and surplus commas to bother to point it out?

Neither, David, it alluded to a thread title which baffled everybody for a goodly while on Monday & aroused significant good-natured comment. Yet another failed attempt at humour on my part.

See here... http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=57625.0 Smiley

On the note of the Oxford comma there was a great sketch from The Mitchell and Webb situation that showed an editor of a grubby magazine unwilling to compromise on the presence of his Oxford comma in spite of it obscuring the nipple of the magazine's centrefold. Would be chuffed if someone could track it down...
