21st Nov 2011 - Get married at 10am at the Little Chapel of the Flowers. Hopefully (if it's on) play the Venetian Deepstacks at midday.

You know you're on a poker forum when no-one picks up on this bit. Surely playing poker would be the last thing on your mind at this point!

He'll sure get to play this...let him dream for now.

lol that's why poker players should only marry other poker players - if the Venetian Deepstack isn't on - they will just find another tournament to play instead

I'll be stunned if they will find another tourney to play. Pokerplayer or not, no chance that Joobs will go for playing poker immediately after the wedding. Even if she doesn't know it yet and thinks that it does sound like a good idea ATM, or probably a "what the hell" idea, the closer they'll get to the day the less the idea will appeal.

I got this offer from Groupon yesterday:

Today's deal: Celebrate The Big Day In Style with a Hotel Wedding Package including Full Hire for up to 70 guests with a Finger Buffet, Three-Course Dinner and a Luxurious Room for the Newly-Married Couple at The Brook New Bath Hotel, Derbyshire for £2,000 instead of £5,000

I didn't quite know what to make of an offer like that.

Stunned, Boldie?

I'm loving this particular tangent...the whole poker playing on the day was HER feckin' idea!

I'm ignoring most of the 2011 new diaries but shall be watching this thread intently as I am also engaged and just starting to realise the financial enormity of the situation, please post any money saving tips you find along the way.

Will do mate, and good luck with your own preparations.

Money saving tips so far...well Joobs decided she wanted a dress from 2009 that was discontinued - so the bridal shop reduced it by about 60%. £1200 to £500, nice.

i'm willing to bet that they've already consumated the relationship, so no need to put off the after wedding pokerz imo.  Also pretty sure that Joobs will want to play in her dress!

Hell of an Omaha hand we had tonight Adam

Top set, you vs my top two, flush draw and gutshot straight. I hit it all on the turn. You rivered the house

What a game.

I reckon Duke will be organising the Stag night - and that thought is actually terrifying me!

Spent some time recently planning the reception over here when we get back.

Believe it or not, take out the flights and this is the most expensive thing on the budget for said wedding. We plan to have an intimate meal with families mid-afternoon, then an evening do for friends and other relatives with some entertainment. Continuing with the gambling theme, the entertainment is going to be a along with some fun casino tables for people to play on, and we're gonna offer some prizes for people who cash out the most at the end of the night. No matter what we do though, we're looking at £2,000+ it seems for this, which makes me laugh considering the whole Vegas trip for 2 weeks is coming in at £4k!

I suppose it doesn't help that we don't get back from Vegas/LA until 1st December...

Oh, some of you may have noticed that Joobs is offering a "Cocktail Masterclass for 6" in Leeds on her FB. Offers accepted by PM please. All monies go towards the wedding fund.

I'll let her explain that one in more detail Wink

The best wedding stories are the one where the groom gets stood up at the altar.

You can do it Joobs Smiley

Good luck to you both.
