I personally loved the updates. They made the comp feel more special. Like it was high profile.
I obv don't know how DTDs finances work but they've had overlays in the last 2 deepstacks. So had blonde been updating and the event got just 2 extra runners as a result then the updates have paid for themselves. Even if that's not the case then DTD seem happy to put overlays on and generally add value everywhere. An extra £650 every month to help give their flagship event that extra quality seems like great value imo.

Bank transfers between Ireland and England are a proper pain in the backside, but I'd be willing to stump over the £60 for the year next time I see Tighty or Tikay.

I know this idea has been flogged to death but I love the idea of having like a PayPal donation button on the update whilst it's running. I'm sure tons of people would donate cos it's so easy to click one button and donate rather than pissing around handing over bank details and so forth.
There has been some reluctance from Tikay in the past to do this but I will be having words for sure.
It's only when the updates are acutally gone that you realise how valuable they are to people. Something is very missing from the DTD 300 by not having them.
Also I think solo updats are just plain wrong. From having done about 20 of them in the past I know how bloody hard they are even with 2 people. You can't police 30 tables alone, you miss so much and the banter between the updaters is usually great. You get to a point where you just the post the minimum and the obvious cos ur so knackered running around like a nob.

pretty much sums it up CF your post.
The same 200 odd punters play the deepstack every month and they make no difference to whether there is an overlay or not. Its the casual punters which affect the overlay. The 50/50 type guys who are marginal on entering. I think the updates have an impact on enough of these to easily justify them being funded by dtd. But its their money and they can spend it how they like. Just surprising to build up such a loyal once a month comp feel via blonde over 18 months then just jack it in.
However people starting threads saying lets all pay £5 a month to help promote DTD's event via blonde are not helping imo. Let nature take its course. Stand back and see what happens over the next few months and see if the last 2 overlays were because of xmas (january) and pokerstars event (feb) or whether there are because of the lack of blonde updates.

We have been down the Paypal donate button for years but for some reason Tikay is totally against it, have a word Chili, he listens to you (maybe).

How can TK be against a paypal donate button but blonde are OK with people setting up standing orders?

The other angle which has never been mentioned is the amount of people (again marginal punters who are not 100% to play the event every month) who are staked into the event either via blonde forum staking and/or private staking. IMO having the dtd300 updates on blonde would make staking an individual far more likely as the stakers can easily follow their charge from home.
I have occassionally staked people into the event and i know i probably wouldnt do this now as the updates made it very easy to follow my charges compared to without them.

I think the question isn't Can we fund them, it's Should we fund them ??

my views from the other thread (gl at dtd thread) try to get the posts on one thread.
The numbers at dtd have def been affected by the lack of updates on here imo since they disappeared. Give it a couple of months of more overlays and the powers that be will realise the benefit of the updates versus the cost of another overlay. FWIW i think the updates benefit DTD much more than they do blonde. I know several people who dont play the sats for the £300 anymore because they know their mates wont be able to follow them should they bink a seat. Sounds sad but a lot of small players like their 10 minutes of fame if they play an event miles out of their bankroll i guess.

It's a valid question. I like reading the DtD 300 updates. I don't care about the event itsself in the same way that I don't care about the EPT. There are more blondes playing the DtD300 and I like to keep up-to-date with their progress...
On the other hand; If DTD is losing money on the 300 because they don't have the updates going on (not sure if this is actually the case) then surely that's DTD's problem?
I like reading the updates and don't mind paying a 5'er a month for them...I don't want to pay for DTD's advertising budget for this event though, it shouldn't be up to blonde readers to ensure DTD gets enough runners for this event. (if you know what I mean)
