Sean i would like to get your opinion on why its a bad idea to tap the tank/feed the fish. A little random
but recently i have had strong urges to do these things even though i understand not to. Ego maybe!

Well done on the Monopoly crush i have a freind who is really good at the game he seems to constantly win.
Will have to challenge him then come and have a game with you boys.
You don't have a bad bone in your body Will

With some players, it really doesn't matter: the kind of player that thinks they're great, but are clearly terrible. The kind that try and rationalise their thinking and inflict it upon the table as if they're conducting a seminar. Sometimes it's good to disagree with these players, even if they're close to hitting the mark, because they will continue talking and revealing information. For the most part, you want to make players feel as welcome as possible if they're going to give you money over the course of the night. If you were running a restaurant or clothing outlet, you'd do everything in your power to get your customers to stay or come back and spend more, and the same principle applies here. Some are better than others at attracting the fish, but it's not hard to be pleasant and accommodating. Sometimes it can be tempting to preach in the heat of defeat, but your words either fall on deaf ears or somebody will take notes; and either way doesn't make you feel any better.

If I'm honest, it was originally ego that drew me to cash games. Back at my local, even though I was obviously terrible, I was miles ahead of the players I shared a table with. Now in a tournament, I only had one shot to prove to everyone that I was the best. One bad beat or one mistake was normally enough to serve as an exit, and I would feel utterly embarrassed walking out the door. In a cash game, I got the chance to reload and eventually my skill edge would prevail. I imagine you find yourself in a similar boat, you're a modest guy but you know that you can win against fish, and fish are abundant at the levels you/we play at. Get yourself in a cash game, leave your ego in the car, bring a few extra clips for backup, and smile at everything the fish says. No, not me... Oh okay...

I got myself into a hole again last night. Raise-folded a bunch, which is probably standard for anyone else on this forum, but I love peeling 3bets. In position, out of position, with no implied to factor in. I just don't like mucking after vamping up my VPIP. This might possibly concern me as a leak one day. So in this one hand, I 3bet pre with KQ and didn't get 4bet. I was so excited that I just moved villain all-in for a pot sized bet. He made a pair. And won.

Had a hand versus lucky Jay Liu, who I've been running pretty badly against of late. We played another pretty sizeable pot, where I peeled from the big blind in a four way pot. I check-3bet an board and got it all-in against Jay's top two. We ran it twice, and I picked up a bunch of outs when I turned a red 5 both times, but both times the river came a red T and that was enough to secure him all £600. I clawed it back when Alex and I ran a set into set, and I finished the night winning £18.

September so far: - £307

Am getting a decent amount of hours in so far, which more than likely explains why I'm losing. Alea reopens their cardroom today, so I'll be going down to show my support and scrape together another bowl. See you down there!

Just crushed boxed the first of many marathon Monopoly sessions. Commiserations to cambridgealex, JK, BMoney, and everyone's favourite non-Blonde: Andy Creasey. Got out of a ridiculous hole after going broke blocking the yellow Monopoly, and someone picked up the green set from JK and binked three consecutive orbits to clean out the table.

I didn't so much win a bowl as I was doing an absolute chunk. Managed to scrape it back in the second to last hand of the night where I checked from the big blind and flopped trips against a flush draw and got it all in for a £180 pot. This meant that, including my mincash in the inaugural Alea tournament, I lost £50 for the night. Absolutely hating poker at the moment, but I feel I played my best in the comp tonight. I know it's only a small nightly comp with a handful of runners, but I felt completely in the zone tonight despite getting very unlucky right at the start.

Though it's spooky how I've never run worse at anything in my life ever, it's good to have Alea back on the scene. Nice atmosphere, good dealers, great rake rate and rake-free deals, friendly and efficient valets. Love it. Hope to see next week's turnout make the guarantee

Is Alea gonna be much competition to Dtd cash games. Alex is moaning about Dtd closing early at the moment.

Rob Yong happened to be in the neighbourhood last night, and stopped in at Alea for some 50p/£1 cash. I heard Alex talking to him about this very issue, and Rob seemed a little shocked. Whether this will result in any real change regarding Dusk's closing time I'm not sure. I can't say for certain whether Alea will be genuine competition as such, but if enough people hear about it, I can't see why not. They already have a regular 2/5 game lined up, the rake is 5% capped at £5, I was very impressed by the standard of dealing, and the valet service. I know you're only really in town for the deepstacks, but you should have a wonder down sometime Herbie and see it for yourself.

Rob was class last night, said he'd sort it out so that the club never closed early, won 180 on roulette and gave it to the table in a 9way flip.

Lol. He did something similar with his £380 profit from 2/5 game at Xmas.
[X] i won the flip and dropped it in the dealers box.

Now Alister is at school full time we are getting the twins in a nursery 3 days a week so I may venture out more on school nights to play

I was also at ALEA last night and the dealers were excellent, but then they should be - every single one was ex-DTD!

Don't know how long they'll be doing the rake free for two players for an hour but it makes a difference if you're lucky enough to win it, and also to the dynamic of the game with the rake free players getting more involved...

Maybe DTD could copy it?

Rob's gesture was quality and I've seen him do it before. A 9-1 freeroll to win £180 is quite nice as you can imagine!

I was dealing that game Jason. First Rob said here is a tip for the dealers for Christmas and passed me around £400. In red (5) chips.
Then Rob said to the table "ok next hand who ever wins gets this (380/390ish) deal the cards out please".

Then Jason said if i win im giving it to Will. And won. Sure was fun putting that into the the tip box ;-) Fun times and very balla on
both your part and Robs.

Who are you Pyso? Should have introdced yourself! (unless i already know you lol). Your right, we are pretty much all ex DTD lol, but we're all old school DTD which is why I think we stand out so well. We were all trained by Matilde, who is the absolute best.
