After a week of hype and hysteria following the BNFL Draft, it was strictly business when the Arkansas Gravediggers headed around the horn to open their season at the Retirement Dome.

Head Coach, Tal A. Villas-Boas had been bullish about his team’s chances in the week and had been lapping up the cries of many a hack, who had his fledgling team as underdogs against a more experienced and sophisticated outfit. The margin of victory may have been narrow, but the significance of a rookie victory on such a prestigious stage cannot easily be understated.

Nor, for that matter could “Tay-VB”:

“People keep writing us off. Just because we didn’t pick many good players. Just because we had better options available when it was our turn to draft. Just because we didn’t do enough research. Just because we don’t understand the game as well as everyone else. Just be...Sorry, what was the question?”

These high spirits seem unconquerable, but one has to ask what can realistically be taken from such a marginal victory against a team that performed below expectations, especially given that the Gravediggers must carry on without one of their star players in Shane Vereen. Reliance on third down specialists and Hail Mary hopefuls cannot be recognised as a recipe for success and it seems only a matter of time before the Arkansas bubble bursts. When it does – and there seems to be every indication that that could come as soon as this weekend against a powerful Broncos outfit – the Gravediggers could find themselves in a hole of their own making.

Any thoughts on a WR3 for a different league?

one of Edelman, S.Smith and Decker.

Currently I'm feeling Edelman with Amendola and Sudfeld out.

Definitely

Decker got shuffled out a bit even with Peyton throwing for so many touchdowns

With the Pats injury hit it should be Edelman for now

I withdraw my comment about ChipRich being a contender for 'Runs Like God'.

A few minor edits required:

Week 1 Report - Breaking News

Results:
Robbies Gould en Shower 99.68 - Landry's Losers 99.74

ChipRich 99.68 (0-1)  - Marky147/LEXUS (1-0) 99.74 - Last season's holder of the narrowest win title (a sneaky 0.16pt win), ChipRich, was on the receiving end of a sensational 0.06pt defeat to Marky147 and LEXUS, following a surprising late development.  The key to the victory was that he, ultimately, did an inferior job of avoiding late stat corrections, by selecting the notoriously unreliable Matt Stafford at QB.  The NFL have now deemed Stafford to have been sacked on Sunday on a play deemed otherwise at the time, resulting in a loss of 0.5pts from his provisional score and causing the biggest blondepoker Fantasy NFL sensation since records began (last season).  Fred Jackson for Steven Ridley (benched mid-game following fumbling issues) was clearly the selection route for him to have avoided such ignomany.  Contrast this with Marky's team, where selecting one of Dalton, Cameron or the Law-Firm didn't make the slightest bit of difference to the final result.

Following the news, Team owner Marky147 was overheard saying "This LEXUS dude is the greatest roster-bitch I've ever had.  Just look what kind of score I'd have ended up with if I'd stuck with sharplea!"  ChipRich, on the other hand, told waiting reporters "I'm abso devastated, obvs.  It's times like this that make me jealous of Sheriff's Fantasy week!"  Close friend, Brent Horner added, "I told him not to attempt it.  I did warn him, but he just wouldn't listen.  No-one can challenge LeKnave to a 'run like God' contest like that and escape unscathed!"

Reports are, as yet, unconfirmed that Mr Hare was last seen heading for a small cupboard with a box of provisions muttering "Happy place, need to get back to my happy place."

YTD Records:

Lowest Winning Team Score: (2012 Record: 64.76 - B Side's - Nakor)
1) 67.68 - Budd Dwyers Disciples (Week 1) vs Vegas Venoms
2) 93.46 - Johnny Football's Autograph (Week 1) vs Sheriff's Stars
3) 99.74 - Landry's Losers (Week 1) vs Robbies Gould en Shower

Highest Losing Team Score: (2012 Record: 137.52 - Bobby1's Broncos - Bobby1)
1) 122.28 - Longy's laughable losers (Week 1) vs Stapleton Atheists
2) 101.10 - MANAGER RETIRED (Week 1) vs Arkansas Gravediggers
3) 99.68 - Robbies Gould en Shower (Week 1) vs Landry's Losers

Narrowest Winning Margin: (2012 Record: 0.16 - Robbies Gould en Shower - ChipRich)
1) 0.06 - Landry's Losers (Week 1) vs Robbies Gould en Shower
2) 3.10 - B Side's (Week 1) vs Virgin Autopicks FTW
3) 7.98 - Arkansas Gravediggers (Week 1) vs MANAGER RETIRED
