Yeah sorry rich lol, I'm def trying tonight as my friend has txt me so the usual takeaway/ps3 zombie night has been cancelled so having a pop 2nite
That's the problem with early Reggin or I've found in the past, have a set or really big hand to the flop but some guy shoves on a draw or just a bluff and manages to win somehow. Think online more than live we do remember the bad beats better than the hands we win.
10 gtd tonight so I'm going to try see if I can pull it off, u not trying it 2nite rich?
Plus these Monte Carlo satellites 50seats gtd live at the club looks good
The thing is, you shouldn't be too caught up in the results of these hands. If you play those hands 100 times, you'll win them 70 times (as an example) and those times you'll reach the add-on with more chips than if you entered then. Someone called my all-in 4-bet with AQ (I had KK), and they hit their A. This was in the second level of the comp. So I had to rebuy this time, but more often than not, I'd have had the double up there and would have hopefully gone on to use the chips well. So I want the call there, as I'm a favourite. I have to accept that I won't win every time though, and if I want to avoid this variance, then I'd be better off late-registering (and missing out on the opportunity to accumulate chips).

Had the same convo with Leatherman plus the added utility of being in for £60 (when we dbl early) instead of £90

Which is also the reason I don't rebuy right from the start. I think there's greater return on aiming to get to the add-on with just above average chips, rather than getting there less often, but with a massive stack when we do (whereas the opposite might be arguably better for a normal MTT?). If you can get there for £60 instead of £90, then all the better.

Kinboshi is completely correct ITT, the 'mathematical' play is to late reg, rebuy and addon, you guarantee yourself at the money stage with a reasonable amount of chips. However for the majority of the stronger players in the field they are rarely going to 'waste' the rebuy and instead would hope to get to the break with more than 40k. I myself played 2 or 3 hands before the addon stage, one of them being KK vs JJ for a big double, so I got to the addon with over 50k. The main problem people have in these is that they look at it as a 'shot' to get in for £30... which is completely incorrect. If you're not viewing it as a £60 comp with a single rebuy then you're making a mistake before you start.
Other than that, the other main problem people have in these is that they 'call' way too much.
This may seem strange but on multiple occasions I folded AQ and even AK last night preflop to shortie shoves in certain spots (vs UTG or vs MP) - BECAUSE the key to these is stack preservation, you want to make money from other peoples mistakes.. The way you win these is to not get to showdown.. but to steal a lot and be patient so you can steal enough in the later stages to make sure you get a seat. I know I only got my seat because I won 1 flip (standard) when short and I made one really good resteal which actually doubled me up without being called.
Hope this makes sense.
Oh a much more important note, congratulations Rich on the baby.. hope you're all healthy and everything is going well. Having been the 'older' brother I know its a confusing time for Max but including him like you have has to be the best thing. See you soon mate and best wishes n love to Petra and lil'uns.

My only fear of coming to DTD at the moment is the amount of beers I owe people and want to have with others... I'm a lightweight at the best of times, but theres easily 15-20 heros I know will be there.

Yeh great points from Boshi an JB
Late reggin worked for me Monday reload and Addon is a must having a Token is nice 40k at 300/600 puts you in top 50 and by then the comp has normally got rid of 15-20% of the starting field.
Would do the same in the Monte 50 seater although there's no Addon.. So ideally I'd like a token straight away reload..

Enter uptill the end of level 8 so 7 mins from now and you can have 30k for £60 or 40k for £90 at 3/600/75 with 45odd left and 10 seats, this is not as good as the mega sats but for £60 you gotta spin.
