How did you even get home without opening it? Mine was almost done before I got back to the hotel, which was less than 5 mins away.

Had a great day off Thursday with Petra and the kids and we strolled the few mins it is to the beach in the afternoon and sat for a bit with some cockles and seafood mix nomnomnom, I seriously love living by the sea in winter and summer and nothing beats walking the dog with him off the lead in the fresh air and dont really see myself living away from this area anytime soon.

Heres the wee man and cockles

Then the weekend consisted of up and down the M1 or the M11 as I had already built a 17bb stack to take to the Mini deepstack at DTD and having left work on Saturday at 2.30pm I had another stab at merging and managed to bag a further 106k but to get some brownie points had decided to drive back down to Essex to be up with the kids and then drive back up a few hours later so having finally hit the sack at 4am Max woke me up at 6.15am and one hour later this was us walking the dog to get the papers.

10.30 and we head back to DTD where we eventually finish 31st out of the 150odd returning day 2 players for £225 just about covering the buyins, food and petrol and maybe could have folded the turn vs Robert Bagley where in hindsight I dont think he is ever bluffing but obv dont have a time machine!

Punting wise I backed 2 losers across Fri/sat and both were punted off the boards  took 5/2 the night before and 15/8 in the morning and it returned a 5/4 loser and then backed another horse at 10/1 in a big race and then 8/1 which went off 9/2 fav and lost but gained a bit back on Moonlight Cloud yesterday.

Southend Genting Poker Series

The biggest poker tournament ever to be held in Southend (to my knowledge) is next week with the Essex leg of the GPS and I personally think it will be the worst attended one of the series but hope not as it's unlikely they will come back again if so.
It will be held here at the Genting Casino on the seafront which used to be known as Spielers or the Westcliff casino and used to be a leisure club many many moons ago and the unused swimming pool and squash courts are still located underneath, Tikay and any of the other oldschool players will remember we used to cramp into a tiny room with no aircon in a lower ground floor part and now the poker area is split level but still no good working aircon.

It will need a big London turnout to be a success as locally over the past few years when they have tried to get a monthly £250 there has only been 2 tables with no travelling players and IMO am not sure holding the event in the middle of August when the world and his wife from Romford are in town is going to the best time to hold it.

For anyone travelling down parking is limited on the front for Casino patrons so you are better to head along the front with the sea on your left and where the Arches restaurants are turn right and double back on yourself heading towards the theatre befroe following the one way system round to the top of the cliff where if you follow it along you will be able to park opposite the casino and it's 2 mins walk. For the baller players just park outside of the yellow bays for the caisno and take the £35 ticket that you will definitely get with it being a gold mine for the traffic wardens.

The Arches restaurants are ok along with 3 Italian restaurants side by side just above them or a bit further along the front there is a decent restaurant called Tolouse which actually used to be public toilets or alternatively if you head to Leigh on Sea you will find a better Broadway with little Boutique shops and bars and restaurants.
