Just jammed 15bbs otb with KJdd and the sb who just won a big pot said "I hate playing the hand after I have won one and that this is probably the tightest fold he has made in 2 days". He folds and the BB then says well you must have had one of my outs and folds showing the As so the sb open shows 1010

Well it’s been really busy irl since UKIPT Nottingham week so haven’t really had chance to report much so apols for the Tl;Dr...

I drove up to Nottingham late on the Monday afternoon and checked into my hotel for a couple of nights before attempting to satellite into the High Roller and had sold a small package to my usual investors which included if they wanted the option of H/R satty, Main satty on Tues, Main weds and Friday if required and then the Nottingham Cup if we had bust the main we settled down for the first   satellite and didn’t require the reload which saved a carpet but didn’t yield a seat although the field looked a lot different to other H/R’s I have seen either on UKIPT events or even Sky events.

I played a bit of cash before retiring for the evening as I had a game of golf booked with Karabiner on Tuesday meaning I had to miss my outing for London/Essex in the footie and instead took a pasting at golf having only played 3 rounds in the past 2 years and Ralph expecting me to play off 14 with him off 12 it was hardly a fair match and I was well and truly hustled out of the same value as the winter allowance he will get in a few months time when the weather turns back Wink

I have to say though he is a member at a beautiful course called Wollaton Park of which you can see a couple of photo’s below with the last showing Wollaton House? Which Ralph tells me was used in the last Batman film made.

Pre golf selfie of me with all the gear and no idea..

In the Tuesday evening satty we fared no better than the H/R so I headed off for an early night before the main on Weds where I was hoping to get through on 1 bullet and on sitting down there were only a couple of players I knew being Typhoon, a Swedish H/r and a young mixed games specialist I played with in London and I had position on the latter two so set about trying to accumulate some chips.

I fluctuated between 20 and 40k and then bled for a couple of levels but eventually after sitting patiently found a guy who also managed to finished in the top 4 or 5 to get it in drawing thin with about 30 mins of the day left to bag up a decent amount for Saturday and headed back down South as I needed to work on Thursday and was also booked to have the beard off.

Friday afternoon I set off and having seen a status on FB that Vinny may be in London (it was just Gav messing around) I headed to Luton and though we may catch up but later he phoned me to say he was in Scotland so I stayed in Luton and went to the gym before playing Nirvana’s Friday night comp which was a fairly amateur mistake as I finished 8th at 4am on Saturday morning and by the time I arrived at my hotel again in Nottingham it was 6am and I slept till 11am before heading to DTD to commence day 2 which started on the feature table (no stream) and I managed to win a really big pot where I was all in 15 players off the bubble in an interesting hand (for me) with 67hh having opened the co and then called the proceeding 3b from a dutch guy in the sb to flop 632 with one heart and called his cb to see the turn which he again kept the lead on which now became an auto peel for us and after he bet 60% of my stack on the river I looked to see the river and value jammed to see him tank call 46cc with my playing and scooping a pot that gave us 400k with the avg at 120k.

I then got a table move back to Trevor’s table and found myself a bit card/spot dead but again found some momentum when making a good call with AQ high vs a guy on the button who eventually took my scalp on day 3 and then found AA vs Ian Bosleys 1010 in the BB where he jammed 25bb’s over my utg raise and we were back in the game but a bad last hour meant I was coming back for Day 3 with just over 20bbs.

Sunday morning I went to see my brother over in Borrowash as he and his GF had just given birth to a beautiful baby boy called Finlay a couple of days previously so I had become an uncle for the first time so it was good to see them and congratulate him for becoming a dad for the first time which I am sure would have made our Dad really proud.

I bust in 27th in the end later that day which was a bit yeah but sigh as for someone like me who pays 15 comps per year ranging from £300 - £1000 along with 5-6 smaller comps you can never guarantee a deep run so when you bust close to the life changing amounts of money it is always disappointing but at the same time 55% of what we cashed for is still decent enough to take home and it also means that in the last 3 £1k tournies I have played we have finished 11/1000, bust day one in a massive pot 5 mins before the end which would have given us a top 15-20 stack for day 2 and then 27/1026 but I would still dearly love a slightly deeper run.
I actually think my exit hand was a small mistake coming away and that peeling was by far the better option it is probably close so having busted I decided t snap late reg the Omaha comp in an attempt to get a double flag weekend and despite making all the usual Hold-em player Omaha mistakes I managed to get a decent stack just prior to the bubble bursting and then sailed into the top 3 before getting in all in vs Marcel Luske who eventually won it where pretty much any red card plus an oesd on the river would have given me 85% of the chips in play but alas it was black and not a straightening card so I bust out for just over a grand in that and headed back home.....

Monday threw up a few issues at work and with my investment ventures so despite being due to fly on Tuesday to Slovakia with Petra, the kids and my Mum I decided I was needed here at the start and the end of that week away so we decided that I would stay back and sort out the work stuff and they would go onwards so I grafted hard for 48 hours and then had a couple of days free before my time was needed again and after Vern had confirmed he fancied a bit of a roadtrip we booked up for Edinburgh for the £500 GUKPT and met on Weds evening for the standard Nando’s with Vinny, Fett, Jaffa and Jeff Buffenburger  and then having checked Vern and Rehfish into our rented appt which worked out at £27.50 each per night for 4 nights we headed over to play the side event which yielded a zero return but I scooped a couple of hundo on the cash after needless stack of vs Vern where I had the obvious set and him just a gutterball that never appeared and we were on form for our day 1’s.

The appt

My opening table wasn’t ideal and despite only having half the starting stack I was really happy to move to the table next to me which had a load of locals and Lee Taylor so if I could get a few chips I felt really confident of being able to build a stack on this table which was helped even more when I flopped 3 top sets although I lost a load of other annoying pots to bag up 50bbs for day2 and meant I was in Edinburgh on Friday with Vern needing a reload and Reh firing just one and no longer being a degen it was a walk around, a bit of mooching, a few coffees and then I went back for the Bounty Side event and a few beers on the evening whilst they were in the main.

I love some of the architecture in Edinburgh and there are some fantastic buildings and next time I go the family are defo coming up with me as even the drive from Newcastle into Berwick and then all along the A1 is fantstic with the heather out and a lovely shade of yeloow/orange it is the most amazing drive.

The early stages of the bounty I didn’t play particularly well and just spewed off so re-entered and then found some chips and decided I was going to try and win some bounties and build a stack which we did whilst handing out some severe bust outs to the locals and again sailed through the bubble to receive only the third different national flag on the Herbert but bust in 5th after getting coolered with “The Beltons” vs KK for literally all the chips in play.

I even met another doplleganger for me when I met my long lost brother Neil!

I felt really good on Saturday and despite chipping down I always felt that if I could chip back up we would have another run and although I was down to 12 bbs with about 40 left I managed to win a couple of pots before getting a gift double through and with Fett on the table who I run extremely well against (admittedly over a small live sample) I was back to average with 27 left when we got broken and I moved from a table I was in control of in terms of players to a table where I was the shortest stack despite being avg and also having to start over again.

27 down to 24 took ages and with 20 being paid I needed to find either a decent pot, double through or just win the blinds every couple of orbits which I managed to do before unfortunately finding AQdd and walking into AKo and I didn’t gettttttt so it was 23rd and no consecutive double flag weekends with not only that but the thought of a 6 hour drive home not being something to look forward to.

I actually felt a tad guilty as Max had really missed me and whilst he doesn’t understand “work” yet and what that brings to our family I think he took it really hard that I wasn’t there with them and he was upset when we skyped a few times asking to come home to see Daddy and when they arrived at Luton on Tuesday morning he ran through the gates and didn’t let go of his hug for a full 5 minutes but he was pleased to see a little hot wheels box set I had bought him for looking after the girls which he knows is his job if I am never around and all was forgotten.

Back in work now and hoping for some news on the restaurant but it's been pretty slow going so will update on this in the next few days...

It's Wollaton Hall and was built c1580-88.

Proper gothic architecture which is why they used it as the set for Batman 3. They paid the council a fortune to use it and had half of Wollaton Park roped off with security men steering the curious away for six weeks or so.

I was +8 for the front nine and +5 for the back btw so you only have yourself to blame for not turning me over a la Flushy. Smiley

So the bar/restaurant has been stalling and its been mainly down to a couple of the more cautious investors in the group which has meant we have a bit of competition for the venue and I think we are currently being kept at arms length by the landlords as they are trying to get a national chain interested so are not accepting our offer or giving us a timeframe to get the paperwork out.

I understand their position and because of a bit of procrastination with 2 investors who had pledged quite a chunk of money and then tried to reneg on their %'s and also how much they wanted all parties to put in we lost about 4-5 weeks and no-one wanted to sign the lease until we knew we had all the investment in place hence we are where we are at today.

Personally I dont think a chain will end up taking the venue as the 3 floor aspect is quite unique and we really should hear something this week as we are ready to press the button on the lease if we actually get another acceptence of the offer previosuly made but I have already been working on a contingency and will be investing in another business venture if this doesnt come off.

Last night I went to Luton as they had Day 1b of their 25/25 competition and a friend drove there with Verndog coming and a load of other faces old, new and from Blonde there too so having polished off a really nice bottle of wine over dinner and a couple of glasses whilst in the early levels I was loose enough to splash around and managed to solidly chip down to 13k from a 25k ss within a level and a half which gave me precisely one hour to find a double up or to take the re-entry option but finding a "Belton" on the river which gave me a bigger full house followed by running over the table meant I chipped up from 30k at the second break to 100k within about 30 minutes and then after Vern got knocked out he bought me some run good but also saw some classic Estation calls, turning quads and seeing the action go  me check, bet, 3bet me call and a rather sexy check raise on the river vs a vvv good player with 10high which got through to end up bagging 184300 going back on Sunday to 1/2000/200 and leaves us 4/45 so far from the first 2 day 1's and with them already smashing the 25k gtee having made £34k over the 2 days it should be a really healthy prizepool to play for tomorrow.

I had noticed a guy to my immediate left had his ipad open with my hendonmob up and was linking it to something on FB and 1 minute later I had a text from Vinny in Glasgow saying

"Someone has just posted your pic on a closed group on FB"

Me "What closed group is it?"

Vin "He's a bit of a fanboy"

Vin "your not in the group but I am and I'm having fun!!"

At which point I said to Phil next to me "Hi I'm Richard nice to meet you, my friend Vinny says you have said you are sat next to me on FB" and we started chatting and he was a really nice guy but obv Vinny had his few minutes of fame as you can see below Sad

Last week's poker was a bit of a non event in the end after making day 2 of the 25/25 at Luton with dbl average I proceeded to play probably the worst day2 I have played all year, probably in the past 18 months (luckily it was on my own dime) and from a seemingly healthy position just ironed out chips in the early day 2 levels before getting them back and at the early table break I was back above my day 2 starting stack which was still above avg and now we were down to 50 players with 23 paid so were still in with a shot when I got another table break before I needlessly gave away 60% of my stack in a hand that should never have cost me so much.

I'm always trying out different things in smaller comps to see how certain types of players react to shiz and have been deploying a limping strategy in various positions and against certain stack sizes and on this occasion from the button I was dealt 95ss and with the SB only having 10bbs at 12/2400 I chose to limp when it had folded to me and was folding if Johnny Vac in the SB (tighter than Vinny) jammed and the table chippy was in the BB with me being the effective stack at 70bbs.

Johnny made a comment about the limp and then folded and the BB who was a polish guy that had in my 15 mins on the table showed up with all types of hands raised to 3.5bb so we called and saw a beautiful flop of 673ss which he led for 5bb and I called to see a brick Two Diamonds turn and again he led but this time for 9bigs which I again called and think its fine, and the pot was now 88k.

The rivered and now the villain checked and I decided to try and bet my way out and bet around 47k but he snapped me off with 99 and I was down to less than average for the first time in 8 levels across the 2 days and then I got moved again and then quickly again and with 30 left needed to find a double through and then maintain to get itm and when Gavlar (Pizzled on here) jammed in early position I called off AKo but was at risk vs his 55 and managed to get there on J26J6 to double up to 20bbs and then found myself spot and card dead as the numbers got down to 27 before making a questionable ship with 14bbs folded to me in the c/o with 44 that I instantly regretted (I mean its never bad but...) and got snapped by QQ in the sb and didnt get for another deep run but no cash.

This week has been really positive and I should have some news on the Restaurant this week with a meeting booked to see the landlord's and a slightly different proposal in that I hope will be agreed and although it means the timeframes will move back when you consider the work and seasonality we would then not rush to open until the end of Feb 2016 to go through licencing and open at a time when people start to spend but also give us a full season as opposed to rush it open for  the end of the year but have to get through a difficult Jan/Feb when everyone tends to be tighter with their money.

Today see's mine and Petra 6 year anniversary when pretty much at the time of posting 6 years ago this happened

Our mini Wedding DVD.
It was an amazing day and as many who have been to an eastern european wedding will confirm these guys know how to hold a wedding!!

We had flown 35 of our friends and family out and they enjoyed a long weekend over with us having flown on the Friday with us providing a coach tour of Bratislava and a group meal on the Friday before the 16 hour wedding and reception that ends with the bride and groom leaving last and we left the castle where we had the reception at 5am that morning just as the band stopped playing.

We both observe the modern wedding anniversary gift list so last year was "Wood" (in before Vinny) and this year sugar so you get chance to think outside the box for a little gift and then tonight my mum is having the kids and we are going to eat here http://bourgeerestaurants.com/ which is a venue at the top end of the price scale in Southend and can double as a bit of market reasearch against the competition albeit not direct due to price-point.
