I'm so pleased that everyone is treating things in the Christmas spirit.
I followed the Blonde updates and the live feed too.
Big Well Played to Rastafish and each and every one of the other finalists. Speaking as someone who is pretty much quiet as a lamb when playing poker, even when playing at my favourite venue (DTD), i think that characters like Rastafish, Paul Skipper and Chinese Frankie really add to the enjoyment of live poker, so, long may the verbals and the chat continue.
At the same time, watching Jake and Alex battling it out with Rastafish and Skipper when four handed was a real education. Jake, in particuilar was superb, particularly considering how seriously card dead that he was for most of the closing stages.
Alex was superb too, and didn't put a foot wrong until his exit hand, although on most occassions his shove gets through, so a little bit unlucky. Either way, he certainly didn't look out of place playing alongside the best live tournament player in Europe.
Last, but not least, i thought that Simon's commentary was just fine. It certainly added to the enjoyment of the event for me.
I'm looking forward to the next one. Probably as a spectator, but hopefully, one day, as a player. After all, every fish has his day.
Happy Christmas, and Good Luck for 2012 to you all. Smiley

Hi All

Thanks for all the criticism, unfortunately i am just old school ( got lucky coming 4th in Malta WPT ), have no idea what you excellent players are up to with all these new terms and moves so i just tried to do a reasonable Job for 10 hours after working 3 x 12 - 14 hour consecutive days to work with our staff and provide the Monte Carlo.

I totally agree that we should get some players to share the commentary next time and as Rob says hopefully there will be many willing to do it. I think Alex would be good.

On a side note, i have had a word with Numpty and for a little chicken and rice and a bowl of water he says he will do an hour or two and agrees with Pleno he can probably do a better job.

Have a great christmas

fAeCES

Lol excellent post Simon. Will TRY not to final again next time and have a go in the commentary box.

Merry Christmas,
he is on about about Alex Hottiwell......iOH MY GOD is there no end to your arrogance and vanity Smiley
merry christmas

Was in my local casino the other day and was flicking through a copy of some poker mag. Simon Trumper was under section of worse nicknames in poker. Wasn't anything bad and said he was top bloke only the nickname Aces was too obvious.

Don't think Faeces is great improvement tbh.

It was a trial/pilot, so we were more interested in actually getting a picture of the web site that people could view - rather than the actual content -

pictures were excellent on the final, best I've seen on a live stream and lovely and stable. one thing that I've not seen mentioned though, the sound was out of sync for me quite a lot of the time by about a second

Only technical comment I have is that when there was an all-in and call, the screen was generally split between the 2 players, and no board-cam. Quite tilting not to see the board spread in those high tension moments - had to wait for the caption or the commentary to actually say what the board cards were.

Other than that, was well impressed with the hole card system. Presume this is RFIDs in the cards and readers on the pads in front of the players? Nifty stuff.

bolded is the reason someone else should do it, or he should have help/breaks.... its hard to commentate and get everything right at the best of times let alone when sleep deprived and running the casino the tournament is being held in....

also @ smashedagain..... i think your point about kids who played every ept/wpt/wsop and won once and think it is cool to come over the top with any 2... is beyond retarded, a high percent of the "crazy plays" usually have a high level of thought, and comments like yours take away greatly from the large amounts of work a lot of the better players in uk poker put into their games (young and old), im sure they don't care and most likely nor would i if the post wasnt in response to my post.... but i felt it needed pointing out that it was very short sighted and illogical post...

also @red dog, that analogy needs fixing.... bcos it isnt just a "free meal" with nothing to gain for them is it? they are gaining 10 hours of advertising, plus the subsequent word of mouth advertising from that all of which will to some part lead to an increase in revenue and popularity for them, any constructive criticism is being openly welcomed by the club (as shown by their presence in this thread) so i dont understand why anyone who comes up with some interesting, different or simple suggestions are being shouted down and being labeled as ungrateful idiots who should shut up and like what they are given, instead of trying to attempt to offer ways in which the service would work better for both dtd, trumper and the people watching.

I think Karl makes some good points tbh.  The idea that because something is "free" doesn't mean it is beyond criticism.  We live in a society now where many things are free but that doesn't mean the provider has no incentive to provide it.  They clearly expect some return on their investment or they wouldn't provide it and whilst Pleno could possibly be a bit more tactful in his approach his points are fair ones in general.

meh Lee I understand why people get erked by certain words

but everyone has their own ones and there are a myriad of words in everyday use that often are not meant in the way that people used to see them and which are not meant to be said in a spiteful way.

my dad who has probably sworn <10 times in his life keeps using the word twat now because I use it alot, he has no idea what it actually means. Similarly I could use the word gay to describe a happy frolicking scenario it wont stop it from offending Stu Hopkin etc.

Karls post is excellent and makes some brilliant points but to get miffed at a singular word is utterly pointless especially in the confines of the t'interwebs.

fwiw he could just be speaking french......

Its in our interests as much as DTD that they have an increase in revenue and popularity. If they gain then we gain because the games gets better and better. DTD's mission is to be the best poker club there is which means the people that use it will gain because DTD is constantly going to be improving.

I live in cornwall, im so jealous the people of notts have a club like DTD on there doorsteps
