Currently weigh 15st 12.

I'm looking to lose 7-8 pound by 1st Feb. Don't know if this is too much- could do with some guidance.

If I don't achieve this I will donate £5 to charity for every pound I'm short.

I'll continue to set monthly goals

2lbs is the recommended amount of weight to lose a week, so its a good target.

Why such a short term goal? I'm doing the same thing, specifically because I want to fit into a specific suit at a posh do I'm going to at the end of the month.

Mainly cos I don't wanna skint myself if I fail. Plus whenever I've gone about losing weight before I've set longer term goals and because of this I've fallen off the wagon sooner.

This way I'll hopefully see the benefit of living a healthier lifestyle month on month

So will you set a new goal next month? Not a bad idea if so

Thanks for feedback all. Nothing worse than setting a goal that you quickly realise is essentially unachievable....so am going to set a revised target of 50I which I reckon I,should be odds on to hit.

Still think you're being overly optimistic unless you're already pretty good at them.

Odds on is certainly a huge stretch. If I were a betting man I'd happily lay you a small fortune.

It's certainly achievable but don't put yourself down by saying you're odds on. Without having a clue about your fitness levels I'd say 10/1 was even very tight.

Did you see the Blonde 100 press up challenges? Zero success out of quite a few starters.

1000 push ups every week for a full year is insanely difficult.

You know this subject matter infinitely better than me Matt so great to have your input.

I certainly don't have a great starting point and am probably making overly optimistic forecasts based on a selective memory of some relatively progressive numbers last year.

I will see how I go over the next couple of months as suggested and if I reckon a fun target is possible or I need motivation I will post in here with how i'm getting on.

Cheers, Ed

We're just in the process of moving from a house to a bungalow, so it is on a 'stock clearance' at present and there are lots of 'ifits' too....

Once we move in a couple weeks I'll definitely do something again this year, hopefully successfully this time and I'll have to work out exactly what.

I might include some form of 'Bodyfat' target, I think that's  more important than weight anyway and a very good indication of things.

Most importantly, as well as eating better I definitely need to start exercising more too before my body totally packs up!

Looks like a big team again this year and hopefully everyone can do as well as they did last year Smiley

I can not believe for the life of me I have not opened this topic before, especially when I have been trying to lose a few pounds.

My background:

Height: 5'9

Weight: 11st 11lb (As of NYE)

Thoughts:

I am generally not really fat, but it shows a little and I seem to have a bit of a 'baby' body, so trying to improve body, tone up and increase muscle on arms. I am also looking to lose a stone, which to be fair, would be happy to lose it over a year, but seems a crap target, so we will go for 3 months & lose 4 pounds at the end of each month.

Targets:

- Lose a stone in 3 months.

- Lose 4lbs for end of each month.

- Tone & muscle increase by end of 2013.

- Very better diet.

- Flatter stomach

Target not met?:

Miss monthly target - £10 by each lb missed.

Miss 3 month target - £15 by each lb missed.

Miss yearly target - £50.

If I do not create better diet over months - £25, then another £25 if I still do not do it. June & December reviews.

All of course to charity.

How are you going to measure the 'create better diet' and 'toning' goals?

If I were you I would consult with some of the proper exercise nutters on Blonde (EvilPie and Kinboshi spring to mind) and think of some specific gym and diet goals, like eat X amount of protein per week or bench press X amount by this date.

room for a medium-sized one?

No massive diet plans for me, but after getting in fairly good shape over the last year or so leading up to the marathon I've fallen off the wagon big time.  Weighed myself for the first time in months the other day and I'm heavier than I was even before I took up running.  Looking to lose around  stone over the next 2-3 months but cutting out fattening snacks (been far too many of them over the last month - especially since I discovered I make the yummiest xmas cake in the world), eating regular, healthy meals, and having my main meal at lunchtime with a lighter meal in the evening.

Exercise wise I ditched my car a couple of months back and got a bicycle through the cycle to work scheme.  Due to the cold weather/dark nights/failing to get out of bed on time it's not had anywhere near as much use as it should, but I invested in some new padded knickers today and will be back on it tomorrow, cycling just under 16 miles most days.  Also going to sign up for a few running races in the spring, and start training towards those too.

starting weight (1/1/13) 10st 4.5lb

Not enough padding in your knickers already eh?

Hmmm, want to add some exercise elements into my challenge for this year. Local half marathon is just over 8 weeks away, I have not done any exercise whatsoever since end of August.

Probs looking for advice from boshi here but what time should I be aiming for to complete a half mara in 8 weeks time. I know it is nowhere near enough time to train for it so would just be looking to get round it sorta one piece!!!
