I reckon I must have put at least 4lbs on since I last weighed myself.

Question, I will of course weigh myself tomorrow at home, but think the scales at my gym are loads more accurate. If I weight myself tomorrow, then the weight at the gym is not too different, can I go with that as my starting weight? Obv will post tomorrow either way.

I think tomorrow will just be weigh in day for most of us with the real stuff starting on the 2nd. I know for sure I will struggle rolling into bed at 4am then getting up and doing anything but laying on the couch feeling sorry for myself and comfort eating. That said I am really excited with how the next 24 weeks are going to turn out. I reckon between us we will easily lose an average sized family.

I will post my weight in thread tomorrow, but won't be officially starting my diet untill I have managed to finish off all the Christmas goodies we had in.  I just think things are easier when there are no temptations about.

I will be weighing in when I get up 2mrw morning.  11:59 tonight will be the last drop of champagne / mince pie / whatever.

I'm a little OCD on things like this, I can't just phase things in, it literally has to be 12:00 and STOP!

I just wanted to let others know that I am kicking it off with a VLCD.  This means that the weight loss will be very fast to start with, then I will ease off onto a "halfway" meal replacement stage before finally getting back onto a conventional diet.  I didn't want anyone following a sensible 2lb/week diet to be deflated at my weight loss, that's all.  For those also toying with VLCD, I have done 2 of them now and this will be my 3rd and final time I do it.  If you had any questions on what to expect/how to cope, feel free to ask on here or on PM.  I learnt a lot about myself (both in food and non-food terms) along the way.

I will also be getting back into the gym, although I won't be pushing it too hard whilst going through the VLCD stage.  Most of the work will be improving tone and flexibility.  Swimming, yoga, stretch class if I can find one, power plate and some boxercise/spin classes.

Good luck to everyone, lots of win/win ITT.

Why wasn't the first or 2nd time the final time?

What's different about this one?

I might fail again.  But that isn't a good enough reason not to try again..  However, VLCD is probably not a great thing to put your body through multiple times, (but neither is it a great thing carrying round a lot of excess weight) so if this doesn't work, I will try again, but not VLCD.

First time round I was very focussed on losing weight.  I lost 6 stone in 11 weeks, kept it off for about 6 months and then old habits crept back in and I regained about half of it.

Second time around, I knew the weight loss would be a given from the first experience, this time I focussed more on the mental side of maintaining and learned a ton about myself; unfortunately some of that learning only came about from realisations as I was again starting to put weight on.

This time around, I feel more focussed than the previous two times put together. (and for context, first time around I spent 15 days in Vegas without food or drink, and I feel much more focussed now than I was then)  Part of this is that I am not just focussing on the weight loss or the maintenance thereafter; I have other goals that I want to achieve, so the weight loss just becomes an enabler for other goals to be achieved.  For instance, I am going to reward myself with booking an Upper reward flight on Virgin when I hit 2stone, I save myself some money ITT when i hit 3stone, I have a very special reward promised for 4 stone which will be highly motivational and I have plans for the end of 2012+ which won't happen if I return to my current size.

So, that's the difference for me.  I might not succeed, but I'm in a corner and I don't really have an option other than to come out fighting.

Not sure my body could take a VLCD straight away, the wife went on the Cambridge diet a couple of years ago and I tried it for a week with her and lost 1 stone 3 pounds in a week but I felt so ill towards the end of the week and was crawling the walls, It didn't feel healthy at all, possibly didn't drink enough water but as I'm even heavier now don't think I could do it.

What low calorie diet do you follow? I know i'll lose weight jut by eating sensibly at the start but might try another VLCD if the weight loss starts to slow down.

Anyway good luck everyone, hopefully it will be  healthier 2012..

LighterLife.

Pretty much a stone in the first week and then 1/2 a stone each week afterwards, altho ofc YMMV.

The first couple of days aren't great, (but not as bad as I was led to believe) got to get through it (mild headaches and a few hunger pangs for me usually) but then no hunger at all thereafter when ketosis kicks in.

Water is extremely important, drink plenty and regularly over the day.

Not for everyone, but it certainly isn't as harsh to endure as you might think ~ once you are in the groove there aren't any major problems.  Some socially awkward situations, couple of undesirable moments in the botty dept and that's about it.

Serious question Simon, what's the point ? How does this regime change your behaviours over the long term ?
