Lost 4 lb this week will post pic later, 9lb in two weeks which is really pleasing.
Downside being went to the gym yesterday and was getting some weird pains in the left side of my chest and same region in my upper back so not sure what I've done there..

Had that, you have probably pulled/twisted your rib. It's horrible in that particular location because it feels like your heart.

Does it also hurt when you raise your hand up above your shoulder?

No thats ok, can do shoulder press movement with no pain at all.
Only been to the gym three times and had the pains in my left upper back the first time I did any Cardio on the cross trainer, felt like I couldn't get any air in my liungs followed by sharp pain in upper left back area, after just 10 minutes.
Did a good session yesterday still very unfit but tried my best, then got home and had a weird shooting pain every half hour or so  in my chest and then on the night I got this sharp feeling in my back.
Doesn't feel like a muscle pull.

Hi all! Ive just read a few of these posts and to lose weight is simple, you need to lose more calories than you put in (food & drink lol). Ive been 13half to 14 stones in weight for the last 20 years and its down to exercise. Do any sport: eg golf, run, cycle, gym, swim or just watch what you eat. Ive always played football and run 10k roughly a week and can run under 7 mins a mile comfotably. If you cant do this just run a mile a day at any pace then walk for 5mins rest then repeat or sprint for 20 seconds then rest and repeat five times. It might hurt at first but believe me when you get use to this you will get stronger and it will become fun. If you stay determined and dont give up the weight will fall off AND eventually you will be able to eat WHATEVER you want, trust me on this and remember exercise is to enjoy!!!!!!!  also if you go down the gym remember to do a few leg weight exercises to keep the muscles strong and dont forget to stretch before and after training   thumbs up

how tall are you?
hi, im 6 foot tall but have a small frame so im statistically overweight lol BUT.... ive done weights for 20 years to stop looking like peter crouch/ michael jackson etc lol, now i look more like an smaller and older version of david haye

yep, thought so, lol. it kinda amused me that you were saying how easy it was then came out with a weight you've been at for 20 years that would probably make you overweight, at least if you use bmi. on the whole though your post made sense
thanks, i used to do a lot of medical studies (until when those guys lost their fingers when one study went wrong years ago) and due to my height and small frame my bmi was 23.5. Its now around 25 as when you get older your metabolic rate slows down, thats why i do more cardio now to keep the weight stable. Its hard work but i enjoy it and thats the main thing  Smiley

The pain is probably due to using muscles that havent been used to being used (muscle memory) and the pain in the chest is common as the heart is pumping faster due to the exercise. I get pain in my lower back if i run too fast for too long so just take it a bit more easy and you will be ok, you will usually get a two day ache but after that you should be ok. If not take some pain killers and believe it or not.... if you exercise on top of your pain after a few days ache it will go away as the muscles are growing and the memory is still kept so you will grow with more strength. The key is to trick the body by doing something different every time you train to make you body rip up. Hope that helps mate  Smiley

Next reward in the bag - just had an amazing sports massage.  Cost less than my standard takeaway order, but much better for me and much more enjoyable.

I brought a 75mi one off Groupon the other day which I need to book in, can you choose between Swedish/Sports/Deep tissue.

Any advice as to which to choose anyone?

They are all fairly firm massage styles.  It will largely depend on how much pressure you like, and what sort of shape you are in.

If you haven't had many massages, I'd say take the sports massage and definitely let the masseur (masseuse) know to apply more/less pressure as you prefer.

Deep tissue can be a great massage, but if you aren't used to it, it can leave your muscle group (normally wouldn't be a full body massage, just targeting one or two areas) burning for a few days.

Well done everyone so far some excellent results long may they continue

15/01/12

MP MRP
300g Chicken Breast
200g Lamb Cubes
2x Pitta Bread
Choc/Banana Shake

Protein: 206.5g
Carbs:     88.5g
Fats:        41.2g

Cals:       1643

Stuck to plan yesterday and just ate some of those biscuits I ordered while I was watching the NFL last night. I'm not sure of the calories in them as they're not listed, suffice to say they're typical of biscuits with lots of carbs and fat though Cheesy

I'll weigh myself again before I go to Ireland to see how it's going and then again when I get back on Monday to see what damage the weekend has done. I'll try not too drink too much Guiness and stick to Gin/Tonic or Vodka Diet coke as they're only about 60calories a drink.

Anyone know the calories in an egg? (medium if it helps)
Quick look online got me confused - found a site where the calories changed depending on cooking method.
I thought an egg boiled, poached or scrambled would be the same assuming nothing else added.

I found this online and seems fairly spot on with what I'd expect.

Based on one fresh egg, the calories in an egg are as follows:

One small egg contains 54 calories.

One medium egg contains 63 calories.

One large egg contains 72 calories.

One extra large egg contains 80 calories.

Of a large 72 calorie egg, 55 calories are from within the yolk, 17 within the white which is also where the protein is.

Me and Matt often have omelettes as they are high in protein and therefore good for recovery after gym session. I usually have 5 or 6 eggs, adding no milk, butter, salt etc but I throw away around 4 of the 6 yolks.
