The milk experiment went pretty shit... quite literally
. It's simply impossible to drink that much milk and also have a life unless you know you'll be situated within 10 feet of a toilet all day! Back to wholemeal pasta and tuna tins instead and i think i prefer it lol. I've gotten into a nice routine of preparing my food the night before and making enough to last the whole day.
Feels like i've gotten back into a routine again with the gym too. Off on holiday next week and will put all manner of crap into my body during that time but it's only 5 days so shouldn't be a disaster. Will have at least 2 workout sessions before then.
Squat: 70
Bench: 40
Row: 50
OHP: 37.5 (for some reason i find this really hard)
Deadlift: 92.5
Gonna start adding dips and pullups into my workouts alternately as well. Will initially aim towards getting to 3 sets of 10 of each unassisted. Will see how i get on.
Would worry too much about the weight. Hardest lift imo as the most un-natural for the body in terms of everyday use. A lot of people struggle with the bio mechanics of teh lift so switch to a dumbbell variant. Might be worth trying that

Read through the last couple of pages, keep it up.
My pre season has gone well and I start in goal for my tenth tier side on Saturday August 8th feeling as fit cardio wise as I have ever. However, I am a little off in terms of flexibility and movement but I am getting there.
Feel as if I am getting to the stage I was when I was 17 and felt like a cat in goal confident of saving everything, I think I am 2 months of solid dumbelling to get there.
I have been exercising a lot more since I last posted, and have gained a stone, but I look as trim as I have been since the weight loss, so I am just going to put that down to muscle gain. I must naturally want to be a big lad then because 15st 10lbs is big at 6'4. I think I have more muscle to gain and fat to lose, but think I will settle at 16 stone when all is said and done.
Peter Schmeichel was around my height and apparently around 16 stone too which helps me mentally for some reason, knowing one of the best could do it with those credentials, so an amateur can't be using it as an excuse

well done Ant, sounds as though you are almost there in terms of where you want to be.
Personally am at a plateau in terms of weight loss, but have been getting good cardio in and have actively started to increase the kilos in weights workouts. Long, long way to go in terms of weight i want to lift, but have gone up a decent amount in a short space of time. Only problem is, as ever, squating. Knee and wrists hate it.
On the knee front, went back to the Dr after standard Hospital physio (i.e. crap) and get re-referred. Was expecting it to be 4-6 month wait, but got seen in two weeks in the private sector ( recently won a contract for MSK work).
Have to say the service was awesome. Saw a specialist who got me to do a few exercises/tests. sent me for an x-ray on site and was back in his room 20 mins later looking at the x-ray results with him.
diagnosed as hip/knee/foot goes outward slightly on bending and femur/tibia bones rub, causing the pain. Stated that quads are very tight (not unusual for someone who played as much football as i did when younger). Advised to get re-referred for physio, but not at the local hospital, as it needs specific work, not the generic rubbish that you get.

Cheers VegasLover.
Best of luck with the Physio. I like the sound of your current workouts as it sounds as if you are building up slowly. I hope you get the results you are after.

Pick virtually any Monday from the last twelve months and you would find me starting my diet.
I always start on a Monday and to be honest, I don't find it difficult to be good. Perhaps that's because I ate so much food over the weekend. You know how it is, have a final fling, get rid of all the crap that I won't be allowed to eat once my diet starts.
Tuesday I'm getting into the groove, eating well but sensibly, taking some moderate exercise.
By Wednesday I know I have it sussed. I'm already feeling the benefits, I have more energy and my belt is slightly looser. Eating sensibly is it's just so easy when your head is in the right place. I'm so excited I want to come on here, tell everyone how simple it really is and poke a bit of fun at those who are struggling.
Thursday I'm bang in the zone. I wake up feeling wonderful. I'm hungry so I have have a good nutritious breakfast, perhaps some porridge and a couple of pieces of fruit....
Then I have a bacon sandwich, some crunchy nut cornflakes and a mug of tea with some custard creams.
I know I shouldn't do it, I don't want to do it, I'm ashamed of myself, but I still do it. I just can't help it.
OK. I say to myself, It's just one slip, it doesn't mean you've gone completely off the rails, but even as I'm saying it I'm looking in the cupboards for something else to eat.
That's it. The floodgates are open. I gorge myself. I eat all the nice stuff first, and then move on to the 'meh but better than nothing' stuff, then on to the stuff I don't even like.
This goes on throughout Friday Saturday and Sunday. All the time I'm telling myself how useless I am and how it will definitely all end when I start again on Monday.
Sometimes I don't even manage to get back on the wagon on Monday, so of course I have to wait until the following Monday.

Haha, that was basically me for so many years. Only way around it was to rig the game so that I can eat as much as I want whenever I want as long as it is whole foods plant based, and to never dabble in those addicting unhealthy foods AT ALL that set you off. I think if you know you can't be trusted then never put yourself under that pressure in the first place. It is the only way out.
Very humourous anyway.

I say eat as much as you want, stay full and satisfied and do your health the world of good at the same time.
I empathise hugely with the post, it actually makes me squirm with pain about my own consistent troubles for years with being overweight and how lucky i am to be eating the way i am.
Go whole foods plant based imo. If you are hesitant or think its unrealistic, commit to it for a 3 or 4 weeks and then re-evaluate.
I got my mum onto it who's in her sixties and grew up in the west of Ireland on a farm used to killing sheep for meat and had quite a heavy dairy and meat diet. She grew me up on it as well. It took me a while to get her to consider it as it was going against her way of life, but I told her about how it could lower her blood pressure to normal, which had been a problem for about 5-10 years and also how it is surprisingly tasty.
Her blood pressure is now normal, and she has been on it for about 4 months (blood pressure had reduced dramatically within a month). She loves it, but is a little less disciplined than I having the occasional fish dish, she also dropped weight and talks about having more energy.

I will stop harping on about it, but all your weight troubles will be killed stone dead if you guys tried this.
Regardless, I know this will probably fail to change anyone's opinions and it is now going to be a life goal of mine to try and make this way of life as appealing as possible without sounding annoying which I know I am failing here with but sort of don't care at this point in time as I am raw with it haha.

Ha.
Vegan is seperate from plant based whole foods. You'll still get the benefits even if you abuse animals. The lifestyle will sort your weight out for good.
The one thing that fucked me right off was not being able to eat as much as I fancied and not feeling full when limiting my calories.
I'll find a way to attempt convince the masses, because it's one of those things that you need to try before you judge. So might get people on board with like a 4-6 weeks trial thing and getting help from me or other plant based eaters through the process. Starting with Facebook friends. When I'm all set and know enough recipes etc. I will do it, have 5 mates on board already, I just need to get my shit together.
Will start a group chat on Facebook as people are doing it for support and may do meetups. I will put in a last gasp call out to peeps on here about it before I go for it. Probs won't be until around the start of next year anyway.

I was a huge meat eater and I am happily set with this after say an initial 2 weeks of mild frustration going meat/dairy free, now I've gone 18 months. You feel so full from all the grains the lure for meat goes. Also you start getting a natural buzz from the increase in whole grains, fruits and vegetables.
You have to remember I know what it's like eating meat and coming across a hippie telling you not to. The automatic wall goes up. All I'm saying is give it a trial period of 4-6 weeks and then re-evaluate. At the least you've experienced something new with a probable takeaway that more grains, fruits, veg, legumes with less processed foods eaten is a good idea and at the best you fully commit because you are buzzing.
It really is a try it out yourself and you realise about it sort of thing.
The biggest battle I'm going to have is trying to make it sexy and I might ask my mates who do it to do video updates to put up on YouTube to show their initial struggles and hopeful progression, then put some emotive music in the background, with before and afters photos, mention the positive environmental effects and I might have my Facebook ad campaign.
I'm going to have a long hard think about it all first and do some studying because the first time I go with it better be the best effort.
