Can best be summed up by the efforts of Cornet. She's won the first set, goes 5-0 down in the second, proceeds to call on the trainer because of a so-called injury and then manages to get herself into a 12 minute game on Niculescu's service (which she loses). I mean, if your injured, just throw the game and get on with the final set. Even in the final set she was 3-1 up then Niculescu rolls off 5 in a row. Bizarre stuff.

Gojowyczk was two sets down, battles to two sets all and goes a break up in the final set and gets beaten. No excuses for Melzer and Safarova though, both well beaten.
