I remember when this one cropped up a few years ago.

If you intend playing at the Venetian, but want the cheapest room, stay at Harrahs.

If you intend playing centre strip, then stay at the Linq/IP.

As Tal said, no point getting the cheapest room, and then doing a bullseye a day in cabs.

Isn't TI cheap enough and ok?  Never stayed there.

I'd imagine the difference over a week would probably be at least a buyin, which was why I didn't mention it.

Had it at £50 a night in my head.   More expensive than I remembered, or they have upped prices over the years.

I was just going off Omm saying that he wasn't interested in paying any more than he had to.

Think you can get optional resort fees if you book with some places, too.

You still have to look!  Harrahs won't always be cheaper than TI, although it usually will be.  Sales etc do exist, so for the 2 minutes it takes to save or cost yourself that buyin, check the prices for your exact dates in a bunch of suitable hotels, be that on location or on quality, or both.  Given a free choice, I'd 100% take TI over Harrahs wherever possible.  For $0, INEC, for "some" $$ it ofc becomes individually subjective.

oh, YOU don't have to look.  The fact that you do on many occasions is great, but I meant the person paying needs to look!  It is a travesty to pay $800 for a trip to the IP when you could have stayed in the Mirage for $600.  Most of the time it won't be possible, but usually something comes up, might not be Mirage, might be TI or PH or something, but $:$ choosing the IP over that "coz its the cheapest" without even looking is not a good idea.

Ok a jet lag question for you.

Arriving on the 9th June and just planned to play a couple of wsop events later in the month, and had given up on the 1500 horse on the 10th cos of the jet lag etc.  However got a backer for that event now who is of the attitude just go play it and stop whining!,

So how do you guys cope with jet lag.  normally i hang on till around 10pm on the day of arrival but end up wide awake by 5am and suffering serious red eye syndrome by the early evening of the next day.

Have read somewhere that i should aim to go to bed around 9.30pm till about midnight.  Drag myself up till about 2.30am and then go back to bed but i dont know.   Any thoughts on how to cope.

Have yet to cash in the horse in 3 attempts and its got to be something of a weight needing to be lifted from around my neck as its my main game

I tend to have a "nap" for two hours when hit hotel then try and stay awake as long as possible. Say you arrive 4pm LV time its effectively midnight UK. I can't sleep on plane, its just too hard in economy Smiley

So I nap to say 7pm local , shower and go out, no gambling, only one drink, have a light meal and crash around midnight normally I wake up 6/7 am next day and don't feel bad at all from then on.

I tried just to stay up with no nap last year and fell asleep into my Chinese meal at Orleans Smiley

Shower after check in, stay up as late as you can day 1 (aim for midnight), you'll be tired day 2 but ok and day 3 will be on normal time.

That's how I find it, anyway.

Obviously, you can energy drink your way through it if you want to, but I tend to avoid all that.

Used to fly to States a lot for normal business.  The way that worked best for me was walk on the plane, change watch to destination time and then do what would be appropriate for that time.  So if it was noon UK and I changed my watch to 4am, I'd try and sleep, I wouldn't be accepting lunch service.  The goal being, that when I arrive in US at 2pm, it actually feels like 2pm and I have as normal a day as possible.

Unfortunately, that just hasn't ever worked for me in LV Cheesy

I'd def book up that flight direct for £550 now tho and you have plenty of time to search around for the best deals for your accom.

If you are looking at playing Venetian Deepstacks then you will only have a few properties to search for so will be easy to check every few days. If you guys are looking at just playing poker poker poker then i get the feeling that the Venetian poker rate might be the best option. That way you can easily take breaks to your room and wonder down and grind cash when you feel like it (get $2 an hour in comps I think which you can then use on your last day of your trip in a restaurant).

TI is only across the street tho plus they have a small poker room that has some good action on 1/2 plus they often do promos in the poker room. TI rooms are somewhat dated but absolutely fine.

Harrahs is a great tourist poker room and has a lot of traffic.  Never stayed in the hotel.

I used to just stay up drinking, but now I've grown up, and have a couple hours kip after unpacking. I then head down for an early dinner,, and start drinking after that Tongue

I struggle to sleep in Vegas, so now take Melatonin or Valerian Root an hour before bed, and surprisingly that does help me to nod off.
