Must be expensive because it's the week approaching Halloween, I guess?

Best higher end deal I've seen is one of these

For £725 + resort fee, with lowcostusa.

Seems pretty expensive for that week, which I presume is to do with Halloween that weekend.

Have to say thanks, as I went mooching about for next summer while I was looking, and got 2 weeks at the Nugget in June/July for £666.

Could get the lot for £1266, but can't commit to a flight just yet, so will have to hope for the sale Grin

Does anyone have any experience with renting anywhere for 6+ weeks?

Already planning next years WSOP trip, and I'd like to stay for between 6-12 weeks.

Palms have a block of monthly rental suites at around $3000 a month and Vdara is around $4000 a month but I can't afford to stump up $10,000 for a roof over my head.

Luxury isn't something I'm adamant in having, but I would prefer something habitable with a kitchen and decent internet.

I think I could probably stay at Circus Circus for about £700 a month but I'd rather not live in a casino hotel like a degenerate Alan Partridge.

Anyone rented an apartment in Vegas before and have any ideas?

I haven't rented,  but I have come close to it Cheesy  And in doing so, did a fair amount of homework.

Budget end, crestwood suites and manor suites were coming out on top of recommendations from poker players. You'd need to rent a car though.  These extended stay places were starting at $200 ish/week.  Don't expect luxury.

You could certainly try airbnb, which wasn't around (or I wasn't aware of) when I looked.  And if you are trying there, you may as well look on vrbo and craigslist too, although personally would be careful with cl.

For more money, if you don't want to rent a car and/or want to get mangled most nights, you could try Tuscany Suites, close to strip, big room, facilities ok.

For a bit more $, places like meridian suites are very comfortable places to stay.  Maybe $2k or so/month, my pricing rates may be a bit stale, but google ftw.  Maybe pushing $3k would get you a MGM-signature suite for the month on vrbo.

Any more dough than that and you are into Palms Place/Vdara territory.

Be very careful if you rent privately to do your research.  Foreclosures/scams can be high, i.e. you could be renting from someone not legally entitled to be renting from you, so you are running into headaches at best and being scammed at worst.

Haha, the sales never dictate the dates I go, but it's always nice to have a couple hundred extra in the Belvedere box Grin

Think Jaffa & Karl stayed in the Meridian one year.

Last 2 wsop I have stayed at Desert Rose resort

http://www.shellhospitality.com/desert-rose-resort

I would say it is somewhere in between staying some like vdara and the cheap nasty extended stay places. Got a decent deal for 10 days to 2 weeks for about £50 a night and there is no resort fee.

It ticked all my boxes, it has full kitchen facilities a seperate bedroom from the living area, pool, gym and free wifi. It is also pretty well located just off the strip behind tropicana and hooters from the strip and mgm is about a 5 min walk.

I have hired a car (I prefer having one in vegas anyway) but it certainly is possible to stay there without one. Would deffo stay there again for the series.

I'll pop this here but it's more related to the Virgin air miles program.

Just booked my flights (thin) and the guy mentioned that obviously we don't earn miles on flights paid for by air miles but you can buy them at 1p per mile.  I've basically spend £109 to buy 10k miles.  Works out cheaper than buying miles normally (even with the bonus sale on) and a lot cheaper than earning them.  In fact, I put them on my card so may even earn miles for the spend.  You can double up on this offer but I declined, enough is enough.

Also, you can use air miles to pay for Eurostar trips which I didn't know.  I thought he said it was 18.5k but he didn't say whether or not that was return but a quick Google reveals that it's 18k standard return or 30k for premier return and of course no taxes to pay, just the miles.  Worth consideration if you have a ton of miles.

This question was posed elsewhere on blonde by hhyftyftdr......

Tikay, would like some advice on Vegas old town please.

We're thinking of staying there next May/June after spending a couple nights on Strip.....4Queens is coming up very cheap for a week @ about £230 and no resort fee. Have you stayed there? Thoughts?

What are games like on Freemont St? Is there enough $1/$2 games kicking about at all hours to keep me busy doing my bollocks? Appreciate you prefer that 4 card garbage....

What time do the busses to the Strip end? Or are they 24/7?

In my 4 trips to Vegas, I've only been up to Freemont St once and only played the one MTT there (somehow my 6 high all in bluff on the river got picked off), so my knowledge of all things old town isn't too good. But I know you love it there so any advice would be much appreciated.

TIA.

This one might be more Marky's bag but...

4Queens is coming up very cheap for a week @ about £230 and no resort fee. Have you stayed there? Thoughts?

I did stay there for a couple of nights, I seem to remember I was nittily avoiding a massive price spike everywhere else in town that weekend..  The room was large-ish, plain, but fine, plenty of hot water in shower.  It was well out of season, so no idea if they even have a pool.  They had a very basic food court downstairs, (not visited) Magnolias coffee shop (unfortunately visited) Hugos (well documented itt) and a small brewpub with accompanying food menu.  It was clean and tidy, but I pretty much went straight out the door each time I left the room.

Several properties have had refurbs (Plaza [rooms, not casino], Golden Gate, D,) so altho £230 sounds very reasonable, I'd check and see if any of those rooms are comparable price.  GN and Downtown Grand are probably never in that price bracket, but wouldn';t hurt to look.  Ultimately, £230 sounds like a fair deal, but always worth 15 mins surfing to find the same for better, or better for the same...

What are games like on Freemont St? Is there enough $1/$2 games kicking about at all hours to keep me busy doing my bollocks? Appreciate you prefer that 4 card garbage....

Check Bravo.  You can do it from UK at various times of the day to see what you can typically expect at various hours of the LV evening/night.  Again, going back a few years, but GN had an uncapped NL game, which could be anything from as dusty as all hell right through to deep and lively, depending on table composition.  Not uncommon apparently for several players to have $1500-$2k in front of them.  Next most likely place would be Binions, no idea if they can keep a decent game going around the clock, would imagine they struggle.  PLaza might have some late night "mtts" (where "m" = 2 or 3) but that's about it.

What time do the busses to the Strip end? Or are they 24/7?

Pretty sure the deuce is 24/7 but I haven't been on it for a very long time.  It used to be pretty fast, then I got on one that stopped everywhere about 10 years ago, vowed never again...

In my 4 trips to Vegas, I've only been up to Freemont St once and only played the one MTT there (somehow my 6 high all in bluff on the river got picked off), so my knowledge of all things old town isn't too good. But I know you love it there so any advice would be much appreciated.

Stay under the canopy of Fremont St, or a VERY short walk East.  Even a block away, all of a sudden you will realise things don't look too clever and safety is an issue.  You can have a play on Google, some attempts at development such as the container park a short walk away with boutiques/bars, a few bars (Griffin, Hogs'n'Heiffers, cocktail bar or two) 'insertcoins' (a videogame bar, might be closed down)  Le Thai restaurant.

Back under the canopy, it is all such close proximity that you can just walk around and if you like somewhere, stay a bit longer, if not, move on to the next place.  The nicer restaurants are going to be in the better hotels, GN, Downtown Grand, with a couple of other options (Marky bigs up Andiamos in D and Triple George Grill) I like V&A in GN and Hugos (was on the decline tbf last time I went)
