Hi I'm just looking for a bit of generic USA car rental advice.
Flying into Orlando and want a specific car (Hummer). Am I better of waiting until I get to the airport and negotiating a price, or booking before hand and guaranteeing myself the desired car?
Cheers

Not sure the regular car rental outfits will offer a Hummer. Have hired a car in Vegas or California every year for a decade or more from the likes of Hertz and Avis, and don't recall seeing one offered in their brochures. Insurance costs must be horrendous.
Pretty sure you would get one from one of those "Exotic Hire Car" companies that offer high end stuff, sports cars and the like.
Will cost a good few bob, I imagine, though.

I found one on avis, but it seems hard to book. I'd be ringing them up, and not just show up and hope they have one. They are going to be pretty specialised. Prepare to pay fortunes.

The youngest Hummer is more than six years old, not too many hire companies will want something that old on their books. You might find a niche company with one but you'll have no chance of just turning up and getting one.

Sorry rereading that I realise I've worded it terribly. I don't specifically mean a hummer, just a specific car - whether it's a Hummer, Chevrolet, Mustang, Dodge etc. Maybe Hummer wasn't the best example..::

If you specify a type of car / SUV you normally get a choice when you go to pick it up
I.e after completing paperwork at the desk - a $10/20 tip may help the guy in the garage let u choose
Best to book in advance with a special request eg I always ask for a Chevy suburban or a Tahoe I've always got one but they cost a bit more than the average roller skate

Earlier you book the cheaper it is. Pick the class your car is in and all depends on what is there when you go to pickup

What would peoples recommendation be for fab 6ish Course Taster Meal for around $150-$200 per person including wine?
Just asking as i have never done it but would appreciate guidance from folks that already have done it?
Much appreciated.

Dr Galloway is a big fan of Picasso, which I think is around that, but maybe a touch more.
I've only done the tasting at é, which was a touch more, but superb for a group.

At the high end food quality, Joel Roubouchon and Guy Savoy for those that are completely price insensitive. For those looking for something approaching a fair mix of high quality food with reasonable cost:
e@Jaleo - Cosmo- (hassle to get an invitation and trying to get the 8 together to book the whole chefs table amongst poker players is like trying to her cats, guaranteed 3 non-shows)
serrano - Aria as a non -hassle tapas alternative, but not really high end stuff.
L'Atelier - MGM watching the open kitchen at work is quite addictive, making a bar slot a better seat than getting a table.
Picasso - £:£ the runaway winner. Great quality food, great sommelier, superb setting and views, perfect for date night. Very fair pricing.
Many poker players are known to be particularly careful with their expenses, but I've never spoken to a poker player that has grumbled about the value there.

This site looks interesting,
https://turo.com
. You hire from the owners directly. I'm not sure how it compares price wise to the main companies but there's plenty of choice on there, including a couple of Hummers in Vegas. You can sort by specific makes.
Also I've read that hiring from nearby Henderson (approx 15 miles from Vegas) away could also be cheaper so that may be worth looking into too.

Hi, I need some travel / poker / sightseeing advice and I'm pretty sure this is exactly the place I need to get it.
I'm currently over in California for 2 weeks and heading to Vegas on Wednesday and staying at Planet Hollywood for 2 nights and leaving on Friday.
It will be me, Leo (my 15 year old son) and a friend who is a wheelchair user.
Assuming I arrive quite late Wednesday evening we'll probably just go up the down the strip for that evening. Poker isn't a priority but if I can get a smallish tournament in, NLH or PLO8, I would.
So can anyone suggest what I could do, see, drive to, visit on Thursday / Friday?
Bear in mind I've never been to Vegas and have no idea what is there to do.
