What are the chances of dodging the resort fees? As it's putting me off at the moment

I'd say you can dodge them easily enough. You just need to dodge the hotels with resort fees.

If getting nickel & dimed is offputting, try Glas Vegas Grin

Every hotel I've searched tells you of the fees

Think Casino Royale is the only one on strip that doesn't have them.

Some DT & off strip, but you definitely don't want the latter.

It's just a way for the hotels to save on taxes, unless I'm mistaken. By splitting the rates into room/rf, they save themselves a bunch of money.

I just look at the hotel price as a total, and not 2 separate things.

What I always do, is pick the hotel I want to stay at, check the dates, and if I'm happy, I pay.

If I'm not happy with the price, I look at others, and then book the one that I'm happy with.

This would suggest that there isn't much chance of dodging them then wouldn't it..... It's just part of the cost of the room, don't worry about it.

One of our recent group got his refunded because of problems with his room. Think he'd have preferred to pay the money and have a warm shower though to be fair.

I guess you could complain like fuck about every slightest little thing then write a ranting email hoping that they give you a refund.

Same principle rolls over to Rhinos I would imagine.

I did complain last time I went, but that wasn't fake, had genuine problems. It's just at the moment, I'm not getting a deal, but wanting to go & just keep getting reminded of the resort fees and the crap exchange rate.

Getting a bit threaders with WSOP delaying releasing their schedule.  I'm wishing to base my schedule around the Summer Solstice comp if possible and they haven't released it yet.

I'm also looking toward Phamous Main, Binions Main, Nugget Main too - but they haven't been released yet. I only popped my WSOP cherry last year - from experience are they usually held over the same sort of weekend each year?

The outline schedule for the WSOP was announced - & repeated on blonde - in mid-December.

http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=67330.0

The full schedule, which is not usually announced until March, will be released in February.

Binions & Nugget rarely release their schedule before March.

Phamous will be released quite soon, but then amended repeatedly.

Venetian should be announced quite soon, & is utterly reliable.

If you are interested in the various MTT series around town, you need this thread, below, which lists, on a spreadsheet, every MTT in Town throughout the period of the WSOP. The thread & spreadsheet is a must for all Vegas wannabees, & is produced every year. The author of the thread & spready probably knows a thing or two about poker, too - he made the November Nine last year.

Isn't the wsop schedule normally out about now?  I always wait for it for the plo8 events and pretty sure I haven't waited until March.  I could be wrong, and have started looking too early.

No, it's been many years since it came out in January iirc.

It was announced on February 23rd last year.

It's pretty frustrating not knowing, but it's the same every year, & we just have to live with it.

There are some nice 3# hotels downtown with no resort fee's.  two of the best are Main street station hotel and casino/brewery and the Califonia. Both have good reviews on trip advisor.
maybe worth considering.  However, there is no poker in either hotels so one would have to venture to golden nugget or binnions for some local action!!
There are a few hotels on the strip with no resort fees but their room rates are much higher so in reality you are paying the resort fee in their room rate - your screwed either way there I guess!!  The resort fees are killers this year as the exchange rates are so poor!!
