"Burnley and Preston have agreed a fee to sign Chesterfield defender Tendayi Darikwa, with the player is in talks with both clubs.

"Darikwa, 23, has been at Chesterfield since 2010, making 119 appearances."

Tomorrow's Goodwood doesn't look nearly as nice as today's.

The 14.05 is not worth bothering with as it is down to 14 runners.

The 14.35 is better and has a short priced favourite, so the shape is good, but it is sat on exactly 8 (Air Force One is out), so we must wait.  There is one dog, so we are effectively trying to get one of 7 places.

The one I like is Tasleet and if I could get 7/1 and a quarter 123 and guarantee 8 runners it would be a very good bet.   I think it is easier to ignore the two who finished behind Shalaa before, and Log Out Island was well beaten last time.  Ours needs a step up in class, but I like the way he finished last time despite been carried left.  Suggest 20 each way at 7/1 ish and quarter first 3.  Will look to do this about 1pm if the price is still good.

If anything the favourite (Trip to Paris) looks too big in the 3.10 (currently 5.9), so I have backed him on the machine for a small bet.  I don't think I am putting anything up here.

Shybet are going quarter first 4 in the 3.45, which could make it intersting if they'd lay more than a quid each way and thread could bet with them.  I have backed Simple Verse to win at 14/1, but that is just on account that she is 3, unexposed and getting a lot of weight.  It is a crap wach way race, so not going to tip anything here.  Moving on.

4.20 Maiden, quarter first 3 with quite a few fancied types, and lots I know nowt about. so moving on again

4.55 tough again. Melabi looks better than Montsarrat, but not had a bet yet.

The 5.30 has 17 runners. woohoo.  We will probably have to wait this one out too.  Midlander looks rock solid here, but do we want a high draw this week?  I have personally gone for Judicial because the 12/1 I just got beats Betfair, so I chose to gamble we kept 16.  I assume I won't get that orice tomorrow, so it is swings and roundabouts.  Not sure what has gone on to cause the delayed reappearence, but it is unexposed and has Hughes on board.  It also has the high draw

If I can get the same price tomorrow and we have 16 nearer the off, then I'd rec a tenner each way on Judicial (12/1 and 4 places if we can).

Looking forward to Soccer Saturday.

Stelling: "What do you make of Brentford hiring a specialist free kick coach, Merse?"

Merson: "I don't know about that, Jeff.  To me, football is a simple game and you can spend all day looking at numbers and pie charts but at the end of the day you still have to run up and stick it in the corner. Nah. Not for me, Jeff"

Stelling: "Charlie?"

Nicholas: "What you asking me for? Ask the fella next to you. He knew a thing or two about it"

Merse: "Well, looking at him, he knows a thing or two about pie charts!"

Knew Palace were after a target man striker, wrongly predicted it would be Austin. Looks like it is Wickham. Still unconfirmed. Will the price hold for much longer? Worth the risk punting now?

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11706/9929772/crystal-palace-have-connor-wickham-bid-accepted-by-sunderland

Considering it might be £6-9m, I think we are looking to start him and treat him seriously.

Considering how well set up Palace are to feed the lone striker, Wickham could find himself in a lot of goalscoring situations that we didn't really have anyone to finish before. At 250/1 and 1/4 odds each way, playing for the each way alone basically, I think its a good £5-£10 ew.

We are playing one up front, and have Bamford, Murray, Gayle and Campbell in, but it isn't a terrible bet looking at the odds.  Especially as Gayle and Bamford have been known to provide cover on the wings when needed and Murray and Campbell looking to be on the way out.

To be honest I wouldn't trust Wickham to score consistently in the Championship.  I don't see this is as a positive for Palace.

I'm on Brentford to win the league EW @ 16s  Lips Sealed

I like Fulham on the spreads @ 59. Pretty obvious shout given they are now 27.0 to win the league on betty and rate 3 points or more lower on the spreads than sides currenty trading @ 36s-40s.

But the Cairney, Pringle, Ashley Richards, Garbutt signings are all deece and they got 52 points last year when all hell seemed to be breaking lose down there a lot of the time.

Also like McCormack top scorer @ 16s. Some of the Shrewdies are on @ 20s but missed that myself.

Quite like this one but it's gone down a point?  Think I'll jump on at 58.  Dunno how it's gone down as wouldn't fancy selling at 57/56.

My bad if its a wrongun.

Just that with our wingers and how we set up we are primed for a semi good target man striker to clean up.

I thought Wickham passed the semi good status necessary, but I admittedly don't know an amazing amount about the striker, but for a small bet it might be worth it?

Won't Chelsea have instructed Palace to give Bamford lots of game time as a main forward?  I imagine Wickham will rotate with him for the main striker role?

I'm confused by the Bamford signing. He's not a target man and is of a similar ilk to Gayle, and we only have one spot up front. My feeling is he comes on around the 60th minute if Wickham is wilting and provides cover on the left or right wing. But I am definitely a little confused.

The bet proposed is 250/1 remember. It's extremely unlikely to happen, I just think there is summin in it. A top ten team with probably their main striker at 250/1. Wickham is 22, maybe he blooms late. Clutching at straws a little with that hope but you never know.

Completely fine with this getting ignored as a tip if I have had a mare here.

Well 250/1 is 250/1 and the main man up front in what should be a mid table team is a fair rational for such a bet.

Personally I think Bamford has the potential to be a better player than Wickham - whether he displaces him this season (or is as good as him yet) is another matter though.  If you're right and Wickham plays up front in most matches then 250-1 becomes appealing I guess with Bolasie/Zaha on either side and Cabaye pulling the strings.

Think we getting a bit carried away classing Palace as a rock solid 'mid table' team.  They are hardly Everton/Stoke/Swansea/Soton etc. I know camel was keen on them to go down earlier in the summer.  Not sure if he has hoovered any of the 8/1.  I will certainly be looking to oppose Palace in some match bets based on their relegation price.

I like the Wickham 250/1 shot.
He scored about 5 in 7 games right at the end of the season 2 years ago that were instrumental in keeping Sunderland up. He's young, a big strong lad, good in the air, if he gets the minutes he's going to get great service from pacy wingers and it's a huge price.
Thumbs up from me Ant!

I can't have Wickham at all

However it looks like he is more likely to be the main man for me especially over Bamford.

250s for a likely starting striker or arguably any team is big
