The 1.50pm at Donny today is Tikay's favourite race - The Sceptre Stakes.

Sceptre was a 3-y-o filly in 1902 when after getting beat by a head in the Lincoln Hcp she went on to win the 2000 guineas, setting a new track record and the 1000 guineas two days later. After bruising a foot a week or so before the race and then being left at the start she only managed 4th in The Epsom Derby, but won the Oaks a couple of days later.

She ran twice at Royal Ascot winning the St James's Palace stakes before going on to run twice at Glorious Goodwood winning the Nassau Stakes and placing 4th in the other before going to Doncaster and winning the St Leger - her 4th classic of the year - she ran in the Park Hill stakes two days after but was unplaced.

They don't make 'em like Sceptre any more.

I think Palace are a bet to win against Soton at 2.7+. I suggest £30

https://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/crystal-palace-v-southampton/winner

Palace will be looking to impress the new boss. The play against Burnley was much more promising and unlucky not to score. Playing 4 across the back really settled the team more. Loftus-Cheek is likely to return with Tomkins a maybe.

Palace haven't scored in 4 and Benteke looks as awful as ever on the deck up front, but I think the approach Hodgson will deploy should play to his aerial strengths.

Soton haven't had the best of starts and they too have had a scoring problem failing to do so in three of their four games, but getting two draws from those so they do appear quite sturdy. The Van Dijk situation is possibly having a negative influence on the dressing room as well.

This isn't a fist pump Palace are definitely going to win bet by any means, I just think it is value at the price.

Nice post, Ralph. Sceptre was different gravy. I have to smile when I see Frankel & Co labelled as wonder horses.

Getting my Singapore GP bet suggestions in early this week because there's a lot of value out there.

Race Winner/Fastest in FP1/Fastest Lap/Pole Position - Sebastian Vettel @ 6/4 (all four bets) with various. Mercedes rarely seem to have it all go their way on this circuit. The "pundits" put this down to straight line speed being less of a factor on this circuit - which supposedly favours the Ferrari. I'm not convinced by the logic, but I do agree with the premise. I can see Sebastian dominating this weekend. Suggest £50 each bet. £200 total.

https://www.oddschecker.com/motorsport/formula-one/singapore-grand-prix/fastest-in-practice-session-1
https://www.oddschecker.com/motorsport/formula-one/singapore-grand-prix/pole-position

Podium Finish - Daniel Ricciardo @ 6/5 with various. A large part of this bet depends on how good Red Bull's high downforce package is, but from what I have seen this season, they should be in for a strong performance this weekend. This, in combination with the street circuit nature and Daniel's ability to scoop podiums when chaos is around him, makes anything over EVS a bet. Suggest £20.

https://www.oddschecker.com/motorsport/formula-one/singapore-grand-prix/top-3-finish

Fastest Lap - Sergio Perez @ 50/1 and Esteban Ocon @ 125/1 with BetStars. The Force India car has unique and innovative update on the car this weekend to add downforce to the rear of the car. We've never seen anything like this before so I really have no idea how much benefit it will provide; perhaps they will shock the grid. That small potential, coupled with their usual pace on street circuits due to efficient tyre and sidepod airflow, makes these bets viable. It's also worth noting that earlier this season Sergio Perez got the fastest lap in Monaco - a similar circuit to Singapore. Suggest £5 each driver.

please update after FP2 as things have changed

we can't use betstars so please suggest elsewhere on that one

Roxholme Nidge 40/1 won't last until tomrorow morning.  Has just destroyed the track record at Romford tonight in a puppy race!  Also has lightening times at Sunderland when winning the Willhill puppy plate there a couple of months ago  Worth mopping up the 40/1.  This dog could be anything by next summer.

Fascinating sessions today in Singapore. Red Bull quicker than anyone expected. My money is still on Sebastian though. Both Ferrari's not setting a competitive lap time in FP2 suggests confidence to me, it's certainly out of character.

£50 on Sebastian for race win (13/8+) and £50 for pole (6/4+)

https://www.oddschecker.com/motorsport/formula-one/singapore-grand-prix/winner

We've missed the boat on Ricciardo to podiumvate, but the fastest lap bets are still valid.

Suggesting £5 singles on both Perez & Ocon at best price.

Champions League of Darts!

Tough competition this one, the set up of the groups has made for a couple of bets to jump out - Group A defo the toughest with MVG, Taylor, RVB, Lewis, whereas Group B looks like it's going to be a walk for Garry on Paper. Garry, Wright, Chizzy, Mensur.

Wright is not playing great atm, mostly due to the insane schedule he inflicts on himself, Mensur played pretty averaged in two euro tours since coming back form the break and I think is kind of out classed in this lineup anyway, Chizzy could win the group and could also come 4th, didn't play either Euro tour since his month off so I kinda feel like he'll be back fresh and ready to go.

Garry to win Group B at 6/5 or 11/10 looks like a cracking bet for me, Garry ended the Aussie Series with a win and has had the last 2 weeks off. Absolutely no reason to think he'll come into this in anything but great form, prone to lose his concentration in games a bit this year but in the softest part of the draw with all areas of the preparation going in his favour....

Phil Taylor to Win 13/2 or 6/1 EW - He's in the toughest group behind MVG and this makes him pretty likely to face Garry in the semi's, however the fact he wont need to beat MVG to make the final and given his form is close to impeccable + he's had a 2 week break since Aus - he's beaton MVG before plenty this year and will be firrrrrrrrrrrrrrrred up like mad in that final, this is the only major MVG never won and Phil is going to be foaming to keep it like that.

Adrian Lewis 28/1 EW - Had a very, very average year mostly he's been disappointing been the odd flash of absolute brilliance here and there, he had back surgery pre-matchplay, shouldn't have really played but looked as good as he's looked all year and ultimately a mix of PT being just too brilliant and the format being too long for his injury stopped him progressing. Since then he's had 7 weeks off, he tends to be a bit lazy so might not have done all that much practice but if his back is better then he's capable of beating anyone in the world, at any time. He's unlikely to progress past the group stage though and most likely to play Garry in the semi so rec a very small bet.

All wide at crayford bags so far this morning.

It looks like they have ploughed the track up in between races to try and balance it up a bit but it hasn't made the slightest difference.  Another 6x5 forecast in the 1208 by half the track.

Could we get the spider out, please for the 1.50?

Lancelot du Lac 20/1 four places 1/4 sportin' bet - top weight in a 5F Sprint, likes the ground and course.

£20ew?

Can't go wrong with much in the top half of the market. We should be having a couple at least, really.

Instant Attraction appeals in this if we can get some of the 8/1 available.

A friend of mine who's a good judge fancies it, arguing it can sometimes pay to be drawn wide at Chester in the wet. Views welcome, as ever.

£20 recommendation, subject to kibitzing.

Never quite had the puff or pace to win, but ew backers are happy enough with 3rd, thanks TalWise.

Now for Spurs v Swansea, for your second Wembley win on the bounce. Probably.

Yes, I'll be happy if Wednesday's win is a sign we are rekindling our love for Wembley.
