Head to Head

18-4 against Maguire
16-1 against Carter

Can't see those two causing him any sleepless nights.

Couldn't see him beating him but dott would cause more issues than Carter imo.

Their first round match is a pick em

Surely the draw is factored into the price?

Of course.

Impressive.

Carter has been in reasonable nick of late, though won't threaten to win the tournament. Plays pretty much everything going I think.

It shouldn't be.  Carter is probably the best bet of the first round.

"perennial foe John Higgins"

It hurts to acknowledge it, but he is still playing superb snooker, & he's really wily tactically.

It would definitely mar my enjoyment if he won it - I'd maybe not even watch the Final if here were in it (depending on opponent) - but he has the game & the experience.

It just grates on me to watch him.

I'm with arb on that.

4/6 Carter, 5/4 Dott.

Think I'd be on Ali there.

I never understand why people don't like watching Higgins.  In full flow he is as exciting as anyone in the game bar Ronald.  I appreciate he is Scottish and a convicted drunk on an aircraft and i know you love your planes.  Ronnie thinks he is the greatest player he has ever played against.  He hates Hendry though so i get that.  Don't think its far from the truth though.

Watched a lot of snooker this season for whatever reason

Looking forward to it personally I'd favour dott at the prices but it's a Lehman's view at best

A game that sums up the Poshie season.

LDSL an embarrassment. Feel sorry for the kid, confidence is shot to pieces.

Worrying the work rate dropped massively after it went 1-1.. not having it being a lack of fitness as a young side and Evans sides don't do that.

Got to be honest I think your squad on paper has done well to finish top half not sure it is any better than that?

Evans is about to get things back on track after three utter joke managers over the space of about three years. McCann bought in a couple of gooduns but mainly they're been gutless, spoilt kids.

Top half has been a miracle tbh. But for the flying start (ran amazingly good v Plymouth and Rotherham) we'd be going down. No way this bunch would have been able to win a relegation scrap. Big summer ahead.

DMac: "Game summed us up this season. Excellent 1st half, chokeville station 2nd half when it mattered fitness & desire wise. 27 points dropped from winning positions, heart surgeon needed to help gaffer find some big hearts. Harsh but truthful. Sorry posh fans. Move on we must & will:)"

I reckon there must be some value in this highest break market:

https://www.oddschecker.com/snooker/world-championship/player-with-highest-tournament-break

Ronnie takes out a big % despite having a tendency to go into exhibition mode once he's sewn up the century and not on for the max. Even then he has form for not finishing it off!

Neil Robertson has topped the list a few times (12/1 here), but ultimately anyone could bang in a random big one (remember twilight Hendry getting a 147?) so personally have thrown a few darts at bigger prices.

If i was going to recommend one i'd probably go Kyren Wilson @ 33/1

UFC Fight Night 128 takes place in Atlantic City tomorrow night and I am having some bets. Not sure if Fred can get on at any of these places but I might start posting my picks anyway each week to see how I do!

Keita Nakamura v Tony Martin
Nakamura to win 9/4 Choral or Laddies £25/five points

https://www.oddschecker.com/ufc-mma/tony-martin-v-keita-nakamura/winner

The opening fight on the card sees an underrated veteran vs an upcoming fighter and I see this fight much closer to a flip than the odds suggest with the older Japanese fighter having an excellent chance to win this. Nakamura is 4-2 in the UFC. His two losses have both come via close points decisions. In one of them (vs Dos Santos) many had him has the winner and as a big dog against British fighter Tom Breese in London he took a round. He is a very good grappler with excellent heart and good cardio who will not quit for three rounds.

Martin is taking his fight fight moving up to fight at 170lbs here. He lost his last one via split vs a good opponent (however I didn't have him anywhere near winning that one and imo the split was flattering) taking his record to an underwhelming 4-4 in the UFC - and this is surely his last chance to try to put himself up there as a top 15 contender in the Welterweight division. Martin is the better striker, he has decent power but not massive KO power. He is athletic but if it ends up going to the ground I don't see him handling Nakamura at all. He has also had cardio issues before, though maybe with moving up he'll get over that?

Nakamura can easily take this fight via decision or submission if he can manage to get a takedown or two. His price is simply too big in my opinion and Martin is not as good as the oddsmakers seem to think.

Justin 'Big Pretty' Willis v Chase 'The Vanilla Gorilla' Sherman
Willis to win via KO or TKO 13/10 PP or BFSB - £30/6 points

https://www.oddschecker.com/ufc-mma/justin-willis-v-chase-sherman/method-of-victory

Willis is fast and powerful and should simply be too much for his opponent here. It is a heavyweight fight, so the underdog always has a punchers chance, but even though Sherman has a better nickname, I like Willis to win early via KO/TKO. Willis in Round One could also be a bet here or the fight not to go the distance.

Corey Anderson v Patrick Cummins
To go the distance NO - 17/10 Choral/Lads £20/4 points

https://www.oddschecker.com/ufc-mma/corey-anderson-v-patrick-cummins/will-fight-go-the-distance
Two of the most unreliable fighters in the UFC here. Really not sure which way this one is going to go (I'd lean towards Anderson), but I see both of these guys having very suspect chins and even though neither also have massive power, I was surprised at this line and think this line is a little wrong and there is a good chance it won't go the full 15 minutes.

---

I might have a couple more bets. I liked Kevin Lee in the main event, but he has just weighed in two pounds overweight. It looks like they will now fight at catchweight with Lee giving up part of his purse, so I'm going to hold fire for a moment here until I see what's going on. Undefeated Brett Johns is fighting too. Haven't pulled the trigger on betting him yet, his odds seem to be drifting, but I really like him as a fighter.

Any other UFC fans got an opinion on tomorrows card?
