Only ever put up 1 bet on here but followed the thread since day 1.
Would now like to put up another one.
Newcastle to beat Spurs on opening day of premiership at 18/5 with victor, 7/2 ok as well though.

By the time the World Cup finishes there will be 4 weeks until the season starts, players will then have a couple of weeks off giving them only 2 weeks pre season and a World Cup hangover.
Spurs currently have Lloris, Trippier, Rose, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Dier, Alli, Dembele and Kane all still in Russia.
It’s unlikely many will play on day 1 and 18/5 still won’t be around.

Suggest £50 but obviously open to others views first.

Newcastle now generally 5/2

Further to the top scorer darts the other day, I really like Firminho at 50/1 with beteveryday (generally around 25/1 elsewhere). Another one who didn't feature much at the WC so that shouldn't impact on his availability in August too much.

Seems a few more bookies have the market up. Unibet have some very nice prices but alas they don't have an e/w option Sad

They don't have a win option for most punters.

they are front loading league spending before they come up and get hit by FFP rules

its a tough old league as the tight promotion [only 2 up, for years 1 up] means there not much difference between a lot of L2 and the top quater of the NL

but that sort of quality and spending is crazy

So trying to buy the league?

Hate it when clubs do that.

not just their current league, they are trying to buy the next league up before they are promoted and have to abide by FFP rules with tiny gate reciepts.

so yah a manchester moneybags club with no fans or history bending all the financial doping rules as far as they can.

I thought he would be on the north side of £5k a week tbh.  I was thinking £6-£8k a week to be leaving the runners up in Scotland who are in Europe. He must have been on close to £4k a week at Aberdeen surely? There must be several players in league 2 on that type of money and they are effectively a league 2 club in all but name finance wise.

When i was a trainee accountant my firm used to audit Rushden and Diamonds when they are doing the same through the lower leagues and in 1998 in the conference they had two players they signed from Northampton on £3k a week basic back then and the whole squad was full time on £1k a week minimum and the gaffer was on nearly £2k a week.  Don't think £4k a week is that much twenty years on given football inflation.

£4k a week isn't that much? In the grand scheme of (football) things no, but for Conference level, for a team that only turned pro a year ago, I reckon its chunks. £200k+ a year in the Conference ffs Smiley

I'd be surprised if there are many players on more than him in L2.

Football inflation doesn't really apply down there.

With the race for prem riches, academies signing up anyone who looks like they can play just incase and foriegn imports there's a slew of players looking to scrape a living and trying to bum a years contract to keep the dream alive.

Can't believe Rooney was on that much at Aberdeen.

Aberdeen and Rangers are in for the same group of players as the likes of Posh, Pompey, Charlton etc, so the wages would be about the same I'd imagine. Top end of SPL, aside from Celtic, is in the same ball park as the top end of L1.

Danny Lloyd joined Salford a couple of days ago on £2k a week apparently. Would imagine Rooney will be on about the same. Doubt they've finished signing yet either, this is a proper push.

That aside, Pompey seem to be signing particularly well if they can get Longstaff over the line. And whoever gets Mo Eisa should pretty much halve in price, assuming no Champo team comes knocking.
