The Tennis "unders" bet.

I am going to do it, looks really fascinating, fun too, & I'm leaning towards the 33.5 angle.

I'll hold off a while to await further comment, but that's the likely route. Not sure who gets "ownership" of the bet, mind.....Wink

Have to confess I haven't watched a moment of the US Open, but I saw Federer v Fish at one of the warm up events (Cincinatti perhaps?) and Federer won 6-3 7-6.  Fish looked pretty good in that game.  He was broken immediately at the start of the match which killed the first set, but the 2nd set was pretty close.  I wouldn't be surprised if he took Federer to a couple of tiebreaks on that form, but like I said maybe Fish has been playing badly in the US Open compared to this.

Yeah my reasoning for the bet in the first place was:

Fish looked totally out of sorts the other night, scraping past an injured Simon who couldn't serve with any pace at all in 4. Fish hit an amazing 75 unforced errors which is virtually unheard of in 4 sets, 2 of which were short and only got 54% of first serves in. Now he comes up against the greatest of all time.

"I have been waiting for the moment to oppose Murray in this tournament and this is it. Murray has looked laboured in this competition and has struggled since his Olympic win. He took 4 hours to beat Feliciano Lopez in the last round and won 3-1. Later he plays Raonic, who has a huge serve and leads the tour in aces. In his last match Raonic beat former world number 4 Blake in straight sets, winning an impressive 89% of points on first serve. In their only previous meeting, in April this year, Raonic triumphed on a clay court, which is neither players preferred surface. "

I think Murray is a really bad match up for Raonic.  He's an infinitely better returner that Blake and I expect Raonic to be fishing for a lot of returns round his ankles.  I like Ranoic but don't think the rest of his game (apart from serve) is there yet, so I'd want a bigger price if I was going to risk his serve firing 100% for 3 sets against as good a returner as Murray.  I'd rather be on Raonic against Federer or Djoko than against Murray or Nadal.

Definitely think this could be a long game though.

What's coming up?

The X Factor auditions are currently in progress.

I will report back in due course.

Sigh.

At least it is not that dreadful SCD thing.

Not sure which is more odious, to be honest.

No groups yet in X Factor but I noticed in the clips of what's happening next week there seemed to be a couple.  Wonder why the wait?  Do you think they'll manufacture some again?  After the success of Little Mix, it's has to be an consideration.

SCD is also a speciality.

Nice little double coming I think.

SCD is also a speciality.

Nice little double coming I think.

The closest I have come to a huuuuuge punting score was a SCD/X Factor double.

I had Hollins/Jedward @ 1000/1

Oh what could have been...!

Thought I had got out of X factor this week with playing the £500 at Dtd Saturday night but alas not as my wife Sky+'d it for me. Young lad from Scunthorpe got through. He is a life guard and was very much a hit with the ladies. I am sure he is a decent lay but this is by no means a bet Wink

Speaking of the US Open I am surprised to see Aggy Radwanska at 1.4 to beat Vinci later today?  Would have expected 1.25.

Like I said I have been unable to watch so far - any thoughts?

Can't see any point in betting on SCD until you:

a) know who's in it;
b) have seen them dance latin; and
c) have seen them dance ballroom.

There are always people who stand out at that point, but that doesn't mean they are worth betting on. Holly Valance was a stand-out dancer first few weeks, but not focused on doing the work required to win. Hollins was incredibly enthusiastic and had home field advantage with BBC (plus Ola, TightEnd Wink ). He had potential early on, although hard to know whether he would go on to realise it.

Tikay, this was a borderline serious piece of betting advice. Just work past the subject matter (hold your nose, try to remember the name of the '66 world cup team, whatever).

Deffo "borderline" Tally......

As to the '66 England World Cup Team, I don't even need the help of google for that!

Goalie, Banks.

LB, Ray Wilson

RB, George Cohen

CB's Bobby Moore & J Charlton

Midfield, A Ball, N Stiles, B Charlton, M Peters. (10 years ahead of his time).

Forwards, Hursty & Hunt.

...and we all know that if Jimmy Greaves had played instead of Hurst, he would have scored four.
