Sorry, another one

Judd Trump v Andrew Higginson in the Welsh Open starting at 2pm

Trump scraped past Dominic Dale yesterday, was 3-1 down and won 4-3

He looked impatient most of the game and his long potting was all over the place

We know (indeed we talked about it) that he struggles to get motivated outside the really big arenas

Higginson is a top 32 player. Not had the best of seasons but solid generally.

He is priced at 11/4 to win this, another 7 frame game

http://www.oddschecker.com/snooker/welsh-open/judd-trump-v-andrew-higginson/winner

If you want final frame insurance, Bet Victor are 5/2

The randomising nature of short matches, plus Trump's somewhat questionable temperament and form, means 11/4 is over-priced

Because Higginson is not the form horse that Milkins is, its a lower sized recommendation

£15 Higginson to beat Trump at 11/4 BSQ or 5/2 Bet Victor with the 4-3 insurance

Thanks Tighty. Shame we cannot foretell when your hot streak will end!

We are on, but have gone, predictably, Route Nit.

We have £15 @ 5/2, BetVictor, Higginson to beat Trump, with "Final Frame Insurance". (Bet Stake refunded if match decided on final frame & we lose).

I would ask Brian Moore to select the front row but here is my effort, I am not even sure if my 2 props are compatible.

Milkins wins 4-1, & our snooker bet gets home with some to spare.

Worth re-reading Tighty's analysis of the bet, too, amazingly perceptive.

Well done Tighty.

Lots of value in this tourney I think. Was gonna tip Doherty yesterday but was busy and forgot all about it.
The Indian player who beat Murphy actually looks pretty decent and took out some very good shots, both attacking and safety. Hopefully it gets put down as a freak win and he is overpriced next round.

agree with that. His safety (as befitting a billards world champion) had Murphy in knots, which doesn't happen often

the markets are over-estimating the name players and prices are too short when the format really pays you to punt the form outsiders in the early stages eg Selby got punted out 4-0 by Joe Perry earlier

I keep forgetting to put them up as well!

'Our' Indian player Pankaj Advani has just beaten Graeme Dott 4-1

Murray  Best  Cole  McCarthy Ryan  Lydiate  Heaslip  O'Brien

Care  Farrell  O'Driscoll Tuilagi North Bowe Hogg

Murray won't play on Sunday's, so couldn't pick him

I have to try and squeeze 35 in from

Kearney/Halfpenny/Hogg

Zebo/Bowe/North/Ashton/Visser

O'Driscoll/Tuilagi/Roberts/Davies

Farrell/Sexton

Youngs/Murray/Care

Healy/Cole/Corbisiero/A Jones/Jenkins/Ross

Best/Hibbard/Hartley

Parling/Launchbury/Ryan/Lawes/McCarthy

O'Brien/Ferris/Wood/Robshaw/Tipuric/Warburton/Lydiate

Heaslip/Faletau/Beattie

My current first choice is in bold

40/1 with youwin and 20s best elsewhere, 21 bet and 27 lay £0 liquidity on betfair. Prob worth £10 if Fred has account.
edit: Coral just put up 33'/1 so maybe not.

Afternoon

For months I was happy to be on the side of Tidal Bay for the Gold Cup, but he was taken out a couple of days ago by the dastardly Nichols.

We have got Sir Des Champs in the value seeking Chelt yankee.

However a couple of weeks ago I was privvy to some info as a result of representing Roger Brookhouse at Wincanton. When I asked the Head Lad and stable hands individually for the stable big hope for Cheltenham, to a man they said Captain Chris.

Now this has never been any sort of favourite of mine, but these boys were very enthusiastic. At this point I was convinced the Bobs Worth line of form was the one to row in with. Since then with SDC and Flem reversing form and it all linking in with BW and TB, it seemed a bit messy.

The other line of form involves Sil Conti/Long Run/TGB/Captain Chris.

With SC beating Long Run a few lengths and LR only getting back up close home to beat CC on ground CC hates in the King George, the relative prices seems well out of line with LR at and CC at 25s.

Add in the fact CC has a decent Cheltenham record(Arkle winner/4th in Ryanair) and a preference for decent ground, and the glint in the eye of the Hobbs team, with CC about to run on Saturday, it seems worth a bet with Victor. If he wins he gets cut, if he loses all likelihood he wont run in GC.

Hope you all kept up?!

Recommend £10ew NRFB Captain Chris Gold Cup 25-1

Not really looking at the outrights for the tourney, just a fair bit of value around in individual games with 'name' players being priced too short for the format

You really both think Bowe? He won't have had much game time before selection and there are a LOT of good wingers to choose from.

Have to agree that BOD hints at value to me in the captain market.

Bowe and North I think are the best wingers, fitness and form permitting

Gatland has several ways to go with the squad, and how much current form plays over pedigree from the last tour or the Wales Grand Slam last year (that he coached) is one of the big unknowables, I think

I hope he doesn't do a Woodward, even as a Welshman. But equally picking solely on which side had the best 6N has its obvious flaws too.

He's a smart coach and has not always made the obvious or easy selection choices in Wales. I suspect he will see this more as an audition for the AB's job than trying to placate the Welsh squad so I wouldn't be surprised at all if it did end up full of English and Irish players.
