Probably not the place for this, but what the heck.

Any thoughts on the Ascot Chase today? I'm a Cue Card fan and think 2m5 is a much better distance. 5/2 is not exactly mouth-watering tho against this field. Interested in thoughts.

Today's race appears to be a dress-rehearsal for The Ryanair at Cheltenham.

Probably CC's optimum trip but not 100% to see it out according to Tizzard.

I don't think that the GC is currently on their agenda.

It looks like it'll be a good race and my position is generally not to attach much weight to this race when I'm looking at the Cheltenham card. Never quite know who's ready, who's yet to peak and who's peaked too soon.

Ice cream thinking?

I don't think I'm qualified to comment on that as I do my share of "ice-cream thinking" too.

One thing I will say about Cue Card is that on his day he looks like a world-beater but at other times still seems to have a tendency to pull too hard and/or set a frenetic pace which doesn't help him to get home in his races.

I would also like to see him ridden by another jockey just to judge how much Tizzard has to do with his inability to settle.

Thoughts

Marlon King is injured

Zigic was sent home yesterday from training, then dropped, for the worst effort Lee Clark has ever seen so he says

So they start two youngsters up front

Watford, with plenty of talent, goals in their locker and needin to press on in the battle for promotion travel to Birmingham and are 6/4 generally.

Yes/no/right price?

Nothing like being prepared......

The 10p rate was lifted when Gordon Brown was Chancellor, I think, so that's going back a bit.

You pick a hard game to call Mr Tighty, the best attack v the best defence in a top of the table clash. My gut tells me that the good defence and the pressure of the game will prevail. It is hard to see either side score more than 2 tries even with the lovely weather. If I had to chose I would go for slightly lower points rather than higher, something like 22-16 to the Quins. I wouldn't rule out the draw though.

But then remember the Saracens game when total points was covered in about 30 mins !

NBA takes a break from regular games for the All Star game this weekend. This is basically a festival in the NBA where the best players in the league all play together in one big game to show off the NBA basically. There is also other competitions such as a slam dunk contest, 3pt contest, skills challenge.

http://www.paddypower.com/bet?action=go_type&ev_class_id=16&disp_cat_id=33&ev_type_id=20412&ev_oc_grp_ids=1181890

Paddypower are offering 2.62 on Lebron or Durant to be named MVP in this game. They are the two best players on their sides by a considerable margin, they are definitely the "faces" of the NBA now that Kobe is too old and can't keep up with them so you could call them fan favourites (fans decide on the MVP)

The game itself will be an exhibition where no-one plays defence basically so it will be insanely high scoring and there will be alot of chances for some cool plays. Lebron isn't known as a scorer all that much but he has scored 30pts+ in the last 7 regular season games to go with all his rebounds and assists that he is a beast for anyway so to say hes killing it is an understatement. Durant won MVP last year with a 36pt 7reb 3assist game last season, Lebron has been bashing numbers better than that in regular games recently let alone the all star game.

These two will get the most minutes in the game which ofc gives them more chance to be MVP.

As far as I see it we are basically betting Lebron and Durant vs Melo and Kobe, and with Kobe in his new passing role because his shooting has been so poor the last few months I don't think he has much of a shot.

2.62 just feels way too big here. You can get 3/1 and 3.5/1 on Lebron and Durant individually (next closest is Kobe @ 8/1) but the MVP will almost certainly be on the winning team so your basically betting on the winner of the game aswell if you bet on one of them individually and it will be a very high scoring/close/high variance game so I think betting them both against the field to be MVP is a much better route.

Suggest £48 Lebron or Durant All Star MVP

Also think Kyrie Irving @ 6/1 to win the 3pt contest is a little value, open to opinions on that if anyone has any though?

Meanwhile at Saracens new ground ahead of the 3pm ko......this won't be doing the pitch any good. Oh wait...

4.00 lingfield today

suggest £5 eway Alfred hutchinson 15-2 hills or  paddy power first 3

reasoning

progressive horse on the all weather

last win at wolverhampton looks better form now with the second winning the big race here last saturday

the horse has never run at lingfield but has a strong change of pace which should be ideally suited to this track

The horse caught my eye when it got beat at Doncaster over 10f, showing a very good turn of foot

It's better over a mile and again showed a good change of pace last time, putting good distance between himself and an otherwise bunched field off a slow pace.

It is a strong race and this is another step up in grade but i feel the horse is slightly underrated at 15-2

I was hoping you might chip in with a view on that, Reds.

I sort of prefer these NBA Sub-Markets to the Outrights, or Over/Unders, don't quite know why, but maybe just a better value angle.

Fortified by reds warmth for this, I decided to get on.

Sadly, Paddy Power Restricted me to £13.33.  Meh.

Never mind, it is still worth a tickle.

We have £13.33 @ 13/8, Paddy Power, Lebron or Durant to be MVP.
