If I had realised how far that Collingwood line would move Teacake I would prob  have suggested we had more on. I'm glad you like it too.

They lost Reid and Ball last week who are big outs and then Shaw and Thomas today which may explain the big move but I was still surprised a UK firm would move so much. Are Hills in partnership with any of the Oz bookies?

Nico Rosberg to qualify on pole for Bahrain F1 @ 9/2 Coral.

Rosberg clearly likes Bahrain on previous showings there and was in the fastest car last week although the McClarens are close.  I think his breakthrough week last week means he is less likely to be distracted this week and think he is a clear 2nd fave behind Hamilton for my money and it is shorter on Betfair which is always a bonus.

Gotcha, thank you.

4/1 generally, I got 9/2 with Corals, as you suggested, so had £40.

Oddschecker prices are here.....

my tip....

schumacher for a podium at this weekends bahrain gp.

He has consitently been quick in qualifying. 4th - Australia, 3rd - Malaysia and 3rd - China.

After a gearbox failure, a frenchman driving into him and some muppet forgetting to put a wheel on properly his results so far havnt showed his true form, maybe giving better odds than Rosberg.

Reliability has been shown in the car from last week in China. Front row in qualifying and a lead for Rosberg from start to finish.

The Bahrain track suits the Mercedes better than most cars (Long fast corners) plus now they have fixed their tyre wear issue. Mclaren are the only real contenders for race pace. (no real good odds as they seem like a sure thing for a 1-2.... )

Schumachers experience and consistency will be key in this race. Overtaking is difficult as sand sits off the racing line.

You qualify well, you finsih well. 2010 last race, both massa and alonso qualified top 3 and finished top 2, same story for 2008 with massa and kubica.

Odds for Schumacher to get a podium this weekend are 11/4 @ sky and bet365. i say gotta be worth 20 quid???

then again i know nothing about how this odd malarky works!

Thats EXACTLY how it works, Parker, thank you - EXCEPT for your timing - 20 minutes ago, I backed Rosberg for Pole!

So, what we need now, is for one of the experts to advise on whether we can afford or justify backing BOTH. I think that would mean we are effectively taking something like 6/4 or whatever that one or the other ends up in pp.

If - IF - it were 6/4 for EITHER, would you still consider that great value?  Looks a bit skinny to me, but my odds maths are a bit rusty.

The Podium finish is in the actual race Tony, whoever gets sprayed by champagne as they stand on three boxes wins the podium bet.

Bollox. And I meant I really ought to read your Posts properly before blathering off on a flight of fanciful fancy. My bad, apologies.

So, try again.

http://www.oddschecker.com/motor-sport/formula-one/bahrain-grand-prix/podium-finish

I know nothing about modern F1, I abandoned it many a year ago, though I still take Motor Sports News, have subscribed for donkeys years.

Is Michael not just a tinsy winsy bit over the hill? And I'm aware of his cars reliability travails this (early) season, but he has one single solitary point in the WC, yes?

My personal opinion, as a lay observer, is that 11/4 is a bit skinny.

Anyone else have a view on this?

Apologies again for the misread. I'm not sure what costs me more, bettng misreads, or poker misreads. It's close.

11/4 may be thin yes....

however... his single point is in no way a true reflection of his race pace or the cars reliability.

i would be the first to slate schumi. I grew up with a sport i adored being dominated by a smug german. the facts are hes been quick, hes still quick and he will win races this year. The fact they have the best brain in f1 (ross brawn) helps. Their race strategy is faultless, rosberg won with a 2 stop race. the same strategy that saw raikonnen go from THIRD to FOURTEENTH in the last ten laps haha

its your money not mine and id never try to persuade you. Plus if i get it wrong i look like an epic ****** *** **** ******.

just a thought Smiley

my wifes best friend works for Mercedes. He never tells us anything about the team ever.

I know he was very excited about the last race and this one before he set off.

You got me, OK,  especially after my epic misread.

£20 with bet365 @ 11/4 for the smirky German to podium in the Bahrain GP.

One last, rather late, question - what happens if the race is abandoned mid-race by, say, I dunno, some unexpected demonstration or civil rights unrest?

ON

we run good {x}

it wont... they are pretty much under marshall/martial (loads of ninjas???) law.

personally i dont think the race should have been hosted but mr bernie says so.

formula 1 is the royal families sport. it will run untarnished this weekend.

thats the problem politicaly because to hold the race under such circumstances sees that f1 sides with the monarchy.

not really something they want to be seen doing imo.....

guess were all backing two german drivers, in a german team from brackley over out two little national treasures from a very british team.

what utter DEGENS

Mr Bernie? King Bernie, more like, he IS royalty! I read his life story recently, he's some lad. Bit sharp, shall we say. Strange taste in Mrs Bernie's, too, his last one used to knock him about shocking, & he seemed either to enjoy it, or be in fear of her. All very odd.

The fact that pretty much all the F1 Teams seem to be based in Northamptonshire of all places is no less odd, in some ways.

As to those "two little British treasures" you refer to, I have some admiration for Mr Button, but I'm afraid Mr Corporate Hamilton does not flick any switches for me. If he were a racehorse, he'd need gelding, blinkers, & get at least one Timeform squiggle, he seems to need things very much his own way. He'd run well on the far rail @ Yarmouth in a selling plate, I fancy.
